Greetings all,

I'm not all that good at setting up these threads so I'll just jump into it. I've been looking at this site all day and finally decided to bite the bullet and make a character.

I have to say that the bases are rather unique, the battle system is a great selling point for me, but when I saw some of the monthlies I had to join.

I've read the rules and the FAQ but does anyone have any tips for the battle system?

My interests include: Anime, NCIS, computers and roleplaying. I'm hoping to get back into drawing when I find a job.

Hello and welcome to Midorea, pyrakitt!

For the battle system, I suggest having a Metal Basat'Iqui fighter with all stats above 10 (and preferably above 15). Fighter are usually the best when you start, as they have more HP than the others classes. The Iqui tribe gives a bonus in strength (and dexterity or constitution, not sure which), but anyway it will help you hit harder, which is good. And the metal element will give you a bonus in forging, and since it is the only skill we can use, it is obviously the more useful. Oh, and don't forget to buy a weapon (I suggest the Volleyball, sold at the Weaponsmith for 5 silver). So yeah, hope that helps... Big Grin

If you are interested in Role-Playing, may I suggest you check the guild linked in my signature? I'm remaking it right now, so things are a bit messy, but it's a nice little place to talk with other role-players and plan new games, etc., etc. And there's of course the Role-Play forums.

Anyway, hope you will have lots of fun with us! And if you have any question, just ask! Hai

Thank you for the warm welcome Maeve.

I've followed the link and posted in your RP hangout. Hopefully I'll find a lot of new friends to help my addiction to RPing on forums take off.

As for the battle system, I'm a little annoyed that I have to create a character before being allowed to post. While there is an FAQ to help with the creation process, no one seems to have a thread that gives opinions on how the whole thing works and wether one class/race might be better to start with. So I thank you for sharing your knowledge.

I'm loathe to delete my character as my lowest stat is a 17. I picked a monk from the Tribe of Jobe and my element is indeed metal.
What stats contribute to what? I can assume that Str is your damage + whatever your weapon does. Does Dex help the enemy not to hit you? Does Stamina effect your hit points any? Are the mental stats only useful for those that fling spells?

Sorry for the rapid fire questions but I've seen similiar battle systems in a forum before and it's never adequeatly explained.

Yup, no one really try to make a thread explaining everything... I guess we were waiting for the admins to do it, and I'm guessing one day they will make something in the "Explore" section, but for now we just have to help each other... Happy

Your stats are just awesome! Leave them like that, and don't erase your character! I think you can change your class by going to Training -> Change Class, but it costs 250 silver and I think it's not useful in your case. Monk should be fine. I just suggest fighter because it has 50 HP, whereas most people who choose another class pick Mage and get kill easily... As far as tribe goes, the Basat gives a bonus in strength, but considering you already have a really good one, it will be ok even with another tribe. So yeah, your character should be fine. Big Grin

I think there was a FAQ somewhere with the description of what each stat does, but I can't seem to find it now... Strength indeed influences how hard you hit, and Intelligence influences how hard your spells hit. I think Stamina and Wisdom have an effect on defence (respectively physical and mental). Dexterity might have an effect on your chance to hit your opponent, but I'm not sure... And charisma has been disable because of some problem with the shops and all.

And no problem Bouncy Heart I'm always glad to help newbies.

Edit: I knew it was somewhere! Character's FAQ Link! However, it is just the general info that comes with ADR, so it's not that useful, but meh...

Much Thanks! That is very close to what I wanted though you are right. It is bare bones at best. Where it tells you how everything is calculated it doesn't even use the same stats that the character sheet does. It's also curious that two stats go into being able to hit physically and only one magically. While defense gets one stat each.

I had an awesomely lucky roll on my third try. Four nineteens and a twenty, it took an hour for me to decide wether or not to go with anything but a normal human. It was the deciding factor in picking Jobe, large boosts with minimum lowering of stats. My lowest stat was a five and that was in Charms, as it's disabled I saw it as no big loss. When they impliment that system again I'll worry about raising it.

Oh and is the oddity with the posting going to be fixed soon? The last sentence being half cut off by the edge of the backround to the post is a little annoying.

It looks like Maeve covered your questions, so all I have to say is welcome to the site. ^_^

That is a problem with IE, and I hope it'll be fixed soon because I use IE too.
