Cellphones........

Most of my family has them(4/5) and alot of my classmates too and I've been thinking about it but should I have a cellphone? please,I'd like your opinions

Well it depends, do you want one? I mean theres no point in spending the money if you're not gonna use it at all..

I find my mobile phone useful because there have been situations where I've gone out to meet people, and either I've been late/lost or they were late/lost. There are times when I need to let my parents know if I'm coming home late, or I have an appointment and I'm running late to that.

I also get messages and calls from my friends if they can't reach me at home (or can't be bothered and want to go straight to me XD)

I think it depends.

I didn't get my first cellphone till I was in high school. Even then it was meant for emergencies or family conversation. I don't use it that much, mainly because there is now signal out where I live.

I think around high school is a good time to have a cell phone. It is nice to have in case you run into trouble or need something around to quickly contact people. Any younger seems unnecessary, unless circumstances require that you have one.

id say yes based on personal experience. i still live with my parents, but im 19 so i want to be able to do my own thing. so its great because i can disappear without warning to wherever i want to go, then just give them a quick phone call to tell them where i am and when im coming back home ^^ that and a mobile phone is always gonna be handy in an emergency! for example, my housemate crashed his motorbike in the middle of the night when he was on his way home - if he hadnt been able to call us, we would have had NO idea where he was or what had happened!

Well... It's pretty useful, but if you don't want to buy one, or you won't use it, than spend your money for something else

If you're only 11, I say wait. I dont like a lot of young((10-12) people getting these expensive cell phones without working for them, and I'm not say you are, but that's just my personal experience, and it made the girls stuck up >>
I didn't get my phone it the last month of my 8th grade year. And I only got it then, so I could get numbers from my friends xD

For a long time I went without a cellphone, finding them a waste of money. Now that my father has forced one upon me, I enjoy having one. Keeping in contact with him in situations where I'm going to be home later than usual is always a plus, and straightening out plans with friends while I'm already at the meeting place is always great.

Though they took me a while to warm up to, cell phones are a good thing to have. And if somebody's buying it for you, go for it!

EDIT: Oh wait, you're only 11? It's up to your parents then. To me, a good cellphone age is about 13-14.

Nah, you don't need one yet. I'm seventeen and I have a cellphone, but I really don't use it for anything that I couldn't use a house phone for.

Currently its main purpose is to send me texts for a Neopets event. XD


A good cell phone age to me is at the start of freshman year of high school, whatever age that may be. If you're involved with a club, strenuous class, or study group then it's almost required, especially when something is canceled at the last minute.
