Hey everyone! This is my very first thread on Midorea. I am planning on getting my first tattoo near the end of Summer. Anyone have some ideas?

Hey there!

I don't really have any ideas or suggestions since, personally, I would encourage most people to create or choose their own tattoos. After all, its artwork being permanently worn on your skin - you want it to look good and to have a meaning or purpose which is relevant to you.

Have you thought of any ideas or seen any you like so far? Or is there anything which interests you particularly which you might want in the form of a tattoo?



I'm hoping to get a tattoo at some point, maybe when I get out of uni and have a good job and the money to spare for one.
I'm hoping to get some sort of Ouroboros Tattoo at the bottom of my spine. Ouroboros is depicted as a serpent swallowing its own tail. It's come up in a bunch of different cultures around the globe, but essentially it respresents the cyclical continuation of life. I really like the meaning of that. And I think it puts problems into perspective, since nothing ever means the end of the world - metaphorically and literally.

me and my friends were talking tattoos again last night ^^

its less unique than ouroboros, but i am very tempted by the idea of a single swallow - ive been looking it up and it has a lot of meaning, mostly relating to the navy / sailors.

however the reason i want a swallow (and only one) is that for me it represents the quote by Aristotle "One swallow does not make a summer, and neither does one day. Similarly a short space of time can make a man neither blessed nor happy" - since i studied Aristotle last year, that phrase has always stuck with me. I dont know, it just pretty much sums up the way i have always felt about happiness.


If i got this, i would hope that i could one day get the second swallow - but only when i could truly say that I am happy.

I like swallow tattoos and the symbolism which is associated for it.
But I do like it when people attach their own meanings onto things - especially ones which aren't stupid. I saw one tattoo of a phoenix rising out of water, purely because this woman had some poor experience with water or something. It completely contrasted with the legend of the phoenix and generally wasn't a very good idea.

But no, I really like that you've associated a design and personalised it to give it a particular significance to you.
Man, we should get our tattoos together one day.

lol. well, im pretty determined to get mine done by Big Pete, cos he let me in his tattoo studio and showed me how to draw a tiger when i was like 10 <3 lol. so might be a little tricky :P
