| This is some really beautiful art. I especially love the sketches, they're gorgeous. And the hair. I need to get my hair-drawing skills better. ;-;
I've not much time at the moment, so I thought I'd just give some basic "that's awesome"s and such, and hopefully I can answer some questions and give better critique when I has more time.
I love eet though~

| Your anatomy is pretty strong. I would work on varying the thickness of your lines when you're drawing in pen.

| I couldn't not! When I looked at the arts I was all "*o* teh purtiez"~
I'm totally naff at hair. I've gotten better recently from practicing more, and I've finally gotten into a certain way of drawing it that's actually starting to help me progress. I started trying to emulate what I'd seen in pictures that I liked and had made me go "I wish I could draw hair like that" so I'm on my way~!
It was the second picture of the woman with her sword that made me go "ooh" at the hair. I love that style of drawing hair as it gives a really good feel for the thing you're drawing, it actually looks like hair and as though every single hair itself has been drawn. That's the kind of thing I'm actually practicing. There's also some great crosshatching there!
And then the original character sketches are really beautiful. There's something really appealing about the pencil sketchy-ness.
Your anatomy is nice and solid too, and I can't see anything that really needs work. It's all very good! You're at a higher level of skill than me so maybe that makes it harder for me to see faults. x3
As for the manga the only thing I can think of is what you'd suggested about more shading/background, and I like the idea of keeping the text and speech bubbles done by hand rather than photoshopped as it gives it the right "feel" for lack of a better way of describing it.
For shading I'd suggest crosshatching, and as I mentioned you've already got a knack for it. It's the best way to go about adding details and shading with a pen, so looking into it and some guides on different types and styles and things would probably benefit you. I randomly found this just a second ago, so I'll post it because...why not?
Aside from that maybe using different types of pens such as heaviness of ink, smoothness when detailing things or even just being lighter in places is always an idea. As well as practicing heaviness of lines as shiro+ said. That's another thing I'm currently experimenting with and it's very useful.
That's probably the extent of my advice unless I think of anything else. If I do I'll let you know. On the whole your art is not only very good in your level of skill but it's also very aesthetically pleasing, so the best advice is the most common one of practice, practice, practice! I look forward to seeing more of your art if you choose to post it, or visiting a gallery like deviantART if you have one~ ;3
As a final note I love your avatar picture~ It's so adorable. x3 And I love your current outfit as well; the using of the briefs as shorts to go with the top is a nice find!

| I actually got the book Draw Your Own Manga : All the Basics by Haruno Nagatomo It shows how to do it best with pens, for several different things. I first got it at the library a couple times and realized it just wasn't going to work well that way xD Had to buy it.
So, I should maybe try swapping pen sizes? Like go over the outer lines with a larger pen and keep details in a smaller size?
I've done another 6 or 7 pages for it in all pencil, I'll go ahead and scan those in right now...

| Ooh, I should give that a look. Might help me out on some of the pen things. I enjoy drawing with pens a lot and find myself doodling with them more often than pencils, so it'd be good for me!
You should try it out and see how you like it. There's the outer lines of the general drawing and you can also try different line thickness for different things, too.

| Here are two one-page comics I made for my friends, It sums them up in one go
Azara---> Okay, so Azara's the one in a nightgown, Zeela is the one in the chair with her back to us and I'm across the table from her.
Zeela--> I'm not going to put the image up in case in trouble for saying that giggle-word....Zeela had dreamed this one night asked me to make a comic out of it. here it is

You don't need to worry 'bout naughty words here, as long as you don't spam obscenities and such, lol. I was tentative at first, but as I saw others cool with it I was allowed to let out my inner Tourette's monster. c:
I really do like the pencil things more. I think it's probably because you're very good with them. It's wondrous anatomy and shading and everything. And you've got the furniture down too. Which is something I cannot do at all. Probably because I rarely do it. I need to practice that more. YuY
Aside from the general all around practicing I don't think there's much more that I at least can offer in advice. I'd say keep up the good work and keep expanding your horizons! And of course, if you find something difficult to draw, then you must draw it over and over until your fingers bleed! (^u^)/

| Ah, like guitar! Get callouses the art side of the brain and the hard-to-draw stuff won't hurt so much
lol, I suprised myself with the furniture...And yah, Belly Button Sex :3 Ever since she first mentioned it, we poke each other's bellybuttons and scream it to the world xD
She had an interesting conversation in her Spanish class once too...I should put that up...
Pencil is my life, I smack colored pencils with my glove. They offend me greatly
