| Soooo yeah. I'm a huge fan of Steampunk, and we've been talking about it a lot today at my house. The point of this thread? For all of us Steampunk fans to talk about it!
I have been a fan for AGES... crap, a LONG time. The late 18th through early 20th century is my faaavorite time period. And of course, Victorian is the best for fashion. I couldn't really pinpoint what it is that attracts me to Steampunk but.... man, it is just the best.
But REALLY?? MAYBE I JUST WANT TO BRAG.
Look at this BEAUTIFUL THING I JUST BOUGHT
OH YEAH
What about you guys?? Tell me all about it! And if you've made any stuff, SHOW ME. I love looking at people's handmade/repurposed stuff. If you don't know what I'm talking about (??? D: ) ask away and I'll be glad to explain.
LoL I'll take down the picture someday... >_>;;; I'm just super excited right now, lol. Agh, it's really warm in this room >:(

| Oh, man!
My friend Afanassii's gonna be so kicking himself in the pants to see that he wasn't here when you posted this! He's crazy about steampunk stuffs. He's even working on a steampunk world RP in the role play forums here.
I like it too, especially the clothing. Though I must admit that I'm more fond of 18th century french clothing for some reason.
I think what's great about the Steampunk genre is that its right on the cusp of the old and the new. There are still old-fashioned things and glorious clothing but there are also more modern things. Its the era when technology really starts to take off, too.
Your corset is gorgeous, I really love the stand-up collar in back!

| OMG that coset is so Be-U-Te-ful! I really love that whole steampunk style. I really wish i could wear something like that but it would never fit me or look good XD my friend likes to wear anything steampunk. She made her on corset about a month ago and it was so pretty. she wore it over this really pretty red flowing dress with puffy sleves to our school dance. Anyway the corset you ordered is the best and so is steampunk XD

Well said.
LOLOL sorry. XD I'm sure you could look great in one! You just need one with the right measurements.
I've only worn mine for a few minutes since I got it.. 'cause it was hot :< stupid summer. But it is lovelyyy <33 omg I love it XD I've been into Steampunk for a kabajillion years and I'm so glad it's catching on... (ok well by now it's no longer "catching"). It's just too bad I don't have any money or I'd make all my own stuff and wear the style every day! I've always wanted a corset though, and this one was just IT for me. haha.. rambling now D8

| Oh So pretty, I'm a big fan of steam punk mechanics and goggles thats about it though the cloths look like a Charles dickens esque stuff, its pretty hard to draw art wise, sooo I tend to stay far away..

| I love steam punk aesthetic! Only today I was wtching a tutorial on making spats!
I'm trying to make it my new themed style; I've been '20s gangster for the past 4 years, its time to move on. Tragically so much of it is sooo expensive, and hard to find.

It's from e-bay. Here's the shop. This lady posts up new ones all the time, and they're all amazing. ^_^
17th - Well, I like Steampunk because I've always loved the 1800s? XD
sycho - 20s ganster!! <333 I love 20s style too, but it is SO so different. D: Yeah... I really need a steady job before I can get into the "hobby" part of it... :<

This.
I'm a total gearhead. I love steampunk a lot for the supercool inventions. I'll admit I'm more into steampunk as a visual artform. I love all the copper tones found, and, der, the steam. Especially the stuff that people draw with all the right components - something that could actually come to life with some real work and elbow grease.
I collect ball jointed dolls, and I'm currently working for a gorgeous girl. As soon as she gets here and I get used to sewing for the feminine form (yay for straightlikesticks boys) I plan on making her a ton of Victorian outfits and steampunk gear. <3 (I'd love to get into metal working to make props for the gang, too.)
I know the Jazz Age was mentioned a couple of posts up, which correlates perfectly with my love of speeding Steampunk forward to the American twenties. I love that setting. (= I think it's positively sublime.
