| This has probably been talked about before, but I haven't been able to find it, so here we are.
I'm looking at the magic system and spells in general, and honestly, I don't see how wizards and the like make it anywhere in the battle system without smacking things around as much as fighters do.
For one, on a fluidity view, the spells don't actually disappear from your inventory when they're spent. In my experience, they just stick around with 1/2 duration left. This is probably there to keep weapons from vanishing for good when they're "broken", but it means that spellcasters will have to keep cleaning out their inventory after every battle since you can't "recharge" spells that I know of.
I'm not entirely sure why we need durability on spells anyway. When a spell is cast, the caster already expends MP with each spell, and they're forced to buy another spell for each one they use. It'd be like if a fighter took damage for every swing of their weapon and had to buy a new one just to attack again. Albeit the spells cost MUCH less than weapons and are a bit more flexible in terms of elemental damage, but spellcasters don't even have a viable option once their spells run out like fighters have in the "bare hands" option.
What I'm proposing here, is that mages get the option to buy inexhaustible spells that can be used as long as MP resevoirs hold out. Of course the spells will have to cost more than they do. Maybe even more than the weapons do, but I think just the single purchase will make spellcasters much more wieldy classes to play instead of navigating the menus to buy and re-buy new spells and recharge MP.
Just my thoughts. = v=;

| Hm... interesting idea.
I'll be honest here: I know nothing about mages or spellcasting, or anything on that matter. In fact I wish my boyfriend were still awake so I could ask him to help me understand this. However, I agree with what you're saying. I'm sorry that I can't say much more on this, but there's really nothing left to say after your post. Hopefully Cat can give you a response.

| I know of no way of making spells with infinite durabilty. I've never seen an ADR Modification like that.
Unless Cat knows of something and would be willing to add it, I don't think anything like this is in the site's near future. Coding something like that would be quite difficult considering ADR goes off strict values.
But maybe Cat should add some special spells with, like, 500 duration or something. XD

| A recharging method would be quite nice.

| Well, if that doesn't work, why not give spells higher durability, and have the player pay money to recharge them again, with costs similar to the mp thingy. 1 silver for 1 point, 35 silver for one spell, and 350 silver for all your spells.
Or something. D=
But inexhaustible spells sound like a better idea if it was more feasible. x.X; I played a mage, but switched to a fighter almost as soon as I encountered the spell system.
That, and I didn't know wisdom was needed for spells as well. D=
