Dimension Traveller's dramatic entrance!

[Afanassii]

An airship flies high overhead, its propellers creating a gush of wind strong enough to reach the ground. In the winter, the sudden wind would chill you instantly to the bone, but on this desert-summer day, the breeze is appreciated for its relief from the blistering-heat. It washes over the people of the small villiage below as if it were a blessing from the wind-goddess herself, or a joyous dance traveling from the feet of sylphs on their long-awaited journey back to stir up the stagnant dessert air once again.

Just as those below were lulled into a state of bliss from the propellers slow, methodic endeavor of pushing the ship along - a gunshot disturbed the peace. In the air, on the ground, not a single eye was turned away from the direction of the sound, the ship's main deck.

There was speach, but it was indecipherable to those on the ground - shouting in many languages but those who knew one of them couldn't even make out more than a few syllables.

A scuffle - movement upon the deck. The shouting increases and a single figure wearing a long blue coat becomes more visible to the ground spectators. It can be seen clearly that he is holding his arms up in defense, but this does him no good as another shot gets fired in his direction.

Clutching his shoulder, the man falls off the side of the airship, plummetting towards the ground at exceedingly high speeds. The crowd releases a simultaneous gasp and a few quickly rush to see if there is anything they can do. (One man foolishly climbs to the roof of a nearby building, hoping to be able to jump and catch the victim at just the righ moment...)

These attempts became null, though, for just as those few were beginning their desparate rescue missions, what was a falling mass of bright-red hair and flailing arms in the wind slows and moves into a right-ended position. As the man gets closer to the ground, for only a few moments, small hand-gestures can be seen by the most observant in the crowd before he opens wide blue eyes and pulls out a black rice paper parasol and lands lightly on one foot.

He slowly placed his other foot on the ground and gave just the slightest indication of relief with a tiny sigh. With that he looked around to the crowed and then swept into a grand bow as if the entire happening had been his plan all along.

Gracefully rising to a standing position, he gives the spectators an enchanting smile, "Hello, fair citizens! My name is Afanassii Abez'iana and I have come to your villiage with naught but the best intentions a'mind. If you enjoyed my entrance, I'll be here all week, ready and willing to entertain any.....of.. your...." his voice trailed off as the crowd began to dispurse.

They were obviously dis-impressed by the fact that he didn't splatter on the ground, and even more so by the fact that there was, indeed, no sign of a bullet wound or scratch apparent on his body. The general opinion of the crowd at this point was that it had been staged, but Afanassii was good at bluffing and had managed to avoid the two shots fired at him completely, only acting as if he had been wounded so that those who persued him would believe him dead (or - soon to be - when he hit the ground) His plan had worked, as the airship had moved on past the village, though it was still in view, it had shrunk a bit by perspective and was clearly continuing its course - not doubling back to finish the failed attempt to end his life.

"...desire." Nassi finished weakly, not knowing if anyone was still paying attention to him at this point. "well..... I guess I should be happy that things went as well as they did" He thought, running a hand over his face and then going on to straighten his incredibly long hair.

Glancing around he found one resident still looking at him. "Oh! Hello! Sorry for the disaster.... " He blushed and gave off a sheepish grin, clearly embarrassed at the spectacle he had caused...

I'm new... just joined (and I mean JUST) though I must admit that I've had some experience with the site because I have a friend (who's also new) that's been obsessed with the site for quite a while.

Obviously, I like to write and I LOVE to role play so I'm sure I will quite enjoy these forums and I am very pleased to be here.
