In The Rainfall

I can see your eyes in the sky,
the tears they fall,
the cars go by, they ask not why,
alone, I feel so small.
In the twilight of the clouds
the bitter tears they fall,
the air is cold, the winds severe,
the mood fits it all.
I reach the end
of a long path drive,
by walking long and far.
The jacket soaked, my breath ragged,
I am basically spent.
It took hours
to get to your house,
yet I can see your response,
it is for him you crave,
you mustn't betray his trust.
Friends we were then,
many years ago,
why is it I still play over the scene.
Perhaps something of childhood is lost,
in the passion of first love,
even one-sided for a friend, in the end,
it all seems to not mean a thing.
It doesn't mean what it did then,
the world it used to mean to me.
Now it is just, moments that shaped,
my history.
In the dark of that night I return,
every time I see clouds of rain.
And in the tears of the sky,
I see your eyes in the rain.

It takes a nuclear explosion
and a stampede of cats
to get you to look my way,
yet whoever you are out there,
you haven't yet come into my life.
I know you're out there,
there aren't more than one of you,
and you're the one I've been looking for.

Wings

I want to be weightless
upon the azure sky,
to drift among pillowy clouds.
To glide upon the seas of air,
sailing across the sky.
To soar towards that distant horizon,
to make it across that great expanse of sky.
I want to reach out and touch the infinity
that stretches out before me.

Hawaiian Office Style

They conducted official gatherings
in the little riki tiki shack.
Bright colored painted stripes,
clothes of festive celebration.
It had to be to prove
the lightness of joy
that comes with promotions.
It was one of those business days,
and all of the exterior was casual.
When off duty, they turn their skins inside out,
and become all business on the outside
and casual on the inside.
