Which item is the best?

I am a newbie and I was wondering. Which of the items is the best weapon for the battle system. The stick? Can someone please help me chose a good weapon that I can use for newbies that I will earn money from later on. Preferably one that you have used on your first few times in this game. Thanks!

Definitely the newbie sword.

It's in the Newbie Shop for, like, 20 copper and has beastly duration. It does good damage, lasts for a freakishly long time, and is very cheap.

Angel is right, and if you want something that hits more, I suggest using the Knife. Once you get more silver you should check out the Scythe of Evil, Scythe of Purity, or the Scythe of Neutrality depending on your allignment considering they hit a lot and you can wear them. ^^ (Well, the Scythe of Neutrality is being made but it'll be equipable soon.)
