Does anyone else ever get obsessed with that website? I go on there and obsessive compulsively search for topics I'm knowledgeable about. Just now as I sit here, I'm typing up an answer for someone who asked if Krav Maga is the best street fighting system. I wrote a long ass answer - with a DISCLAIMER!!! Yes folks, it's gotten that bad. XD

This is what I wrote and am about to submit:

"Krav Maga is a pretty good street fighting system but if you want to feel confident on the street when getting into an altercation it's best to have cross trained in a few different styles. Krav is very good at teaching you to react explosively to a real life situation. All the moves are practical and have purpose, there is nothing for show or flowery included. Taking a krav maga class will make you feel like you've enrolled in a boot camp, with instructors yelling at you, constantly changing the commands and scenarios in order to push you mentally and physically until you break down. The more they do break you down, the better you will be when you bounce back. In krav, they will teach you not to stop until your opponent is down and is not going to be getting back up.

DISCLAIMER: Putting someone down on the street like you will be taught in a krav class may result in criminal charges being filed against you since in many states or countries, you are not allowed to defend yourself after your opponent is no longer a threat. Also, if your opponent is not a perceived threat to witnesses, you can be charged with assault and battery if the court finds you or those you were protecting were not in immediate danger. This is especially hard to argue your way out of beating the crap out of someone who wasn't holding a knife or gun. Be prepared to face the consequences of anything you may do in a streetfight."

It's a little scary how much you can know about something. XD Do you guys go on there? What kind of questions do you look for or ask yourselves?

Haha, I use that site along with yahoo for homework help.
It's extremely helpful with English. If I need to figure something out, I search it and immediately I find something to answer my question.
I love that site. x]

Never tried answering questions though. I'm probably not that knowledgeable. o.o

They allow you to reference that site for school? That was a big no-no for us, since anyone can post there and change what-ever they want. I'm not saying that a lot of the stuff is wrong, it's just it's not a completely reliable source.... though nothing really is these days. >_< I haven't gone on there in a long time and I don't think I would be comfortable answering others questions.

If I was still in school, I'd use it as a starting point but I wouldn't reference it or anything.

I think it's fun to answer questions. ^^;

    I don't use it, personally, but there's this guy who looked up how to kiss a girl on it because he didn't know.

    Then, he told his girlfriend that.

    -_-

    What a hopeless case.

    She likes it though, so whatever. x3

And HAHAHAHAHA that is so funny!
I never thought to use it for such practical matters such as kissing!
I mostly use it to look up bands and quick definitions.

Gosh, I wish I remember where I dug up this article recently of how Google is making people stupid. Stupid with regards to how to do *real* research and *real* searching for information. I like using search engines, but I think it's dangerous to rely on them to exclusion given how top results are allocated. Top results are not always the best results and all. I don't know what - if anything - they're teaching kids nowadays in terms of how to do proper internet searches, but I have this dreadful suspicion that kids aren't being taught at all. I also find myself wondering what kids are being taught about what makes a good source of information and what doesn't. Are kids being taught how to do research with discernment?

@ Mystic - Kids being taught how to research? Ha! xD I wasn't |:
I don't think I was ever taught how to research anything :/ All I was told was probably "Go look it up online" which meant to look it up on Google, which I'm very sure, is not proper research xP

<.< I hated the days where our teacher's took us to the library to have the librarian teach us how to research- quite often I was more thurrough than them. I still have professors who have a class go to the library tohave a librarian teach us how to research D;

It is a valuable skill if you haven't figured it out on your own.

Google is not good for proper research because the top results are based on the popular clicks for a search term. This can be manipulated by example: Anon, with its fight against scientology, made a scientology site be the top result when the search term "cult" was entered.
It was really funny, but also shows that google isn't always the best way to go(whether or not scientology is a cult). Yahoo, and many of the earlier search engines just search based on metadata, as well as the content of the site, but its still not fool-proof.

Yes, I don't like google very much because of what you said sychobunny. And when I mostly use it, Wikipedia is always somewhere on the first page ;P
