| My mom had a cat once that bit the heads off every kitten she gave birth to. I mean, my mom was about thirteen, and the first thing she saw in that garage were dismembered kittens....ugh. At first they thought it was the family dog, but when the second litter faced the same thing, they knew it had to be the mom cat since the dog was absent from the area.
Cats are just strange animals. My own ran off for hours at a time the first two days after her kittens were born. She did come back, and we promptly put her and the kittens in a large cage so she wouldn't run off again. The following day, though, we saw that she'd gotten some kind of bite that later exploded and left a huge gaping hole in her rear end. Thankfully, said hole is now closed up and free of infection, and all three of her kittens are fat, cute, and happy.
