"You don't think that with me being here, that you might have to leave sooner, do you?" Vyvyana asked. Everything on the menu sounded delicious but the homemade apple and cinnamon oatmeal was what she decided on. "I hope that you are able to stay here as long as possible."

Rhadamanthys shrugged. "Who knows? What happens will happen, and I can't do a thing about it." He put his menu down on the table. "That's the way humans live- with no idea as to what will happen in the future, but always ready to face it when it comes. And I gotta say- I like living that way. I'm never bored." He grinned. "Do you know what you want to order?"

She nodded. "Apple and cinnamon oatmeal, please." She let out a sigh as the waitress made her way over and took their orders. Vyvyana felt bad for the humans and not knowing where their lives would lead them. "It's not fair, you know... Everyone should have some idea of how their future will be."

"The creamed chipped beef. With some cranberry juice." Rhadamanthys looked up at the waitress. Natalie nodded and jotted down their orders. He waited until she walked off to continue the conversation.

"Humans don't mind not knowing. There's an old adage about that. Something like, 'The journey is half the fun...' well, something along those lines." He grinned. "They don't know what life expects of them until they leave it, really. I heard quite a few regrets in my day, about how they should have done this, or never done that. I learned a lot about humanity from my job, and I guess that's why it's so easy for me to live among them."

Vyvyana frowned as she tried to make sense of the adage and how humans were. Silly beings... She thought to herself. She was fairly sure she liked the comfort of knowing what was to happen.

"I'm not sure I'd do so well here..." She said, frowning slightly. This, she knew, was true. By herself, she would fall victim to the overwhelming life of a human. When the waitress arrived with the food, Vyvyana thanked her and let the aroma of the oatmeal fill her nose. Taking a spoon, she went to take the first bite. Only to have the heat from it sear her tongue. She dropped the spoon on the table and reached for her drink. Blushing when she glanced at Rhadamanthys, she wanted to disappear as she felt silly for her reaction.

Rhadamanthys chuckled. "I'm sorry. I should've told you that was going to be hot." He stabbed his fork into the pile of home fries next to the beef-smothered toast. "And maybe that's why most angels don't come here when they fall. They'd survive for much longer downstairs than they would here, really. Life on Earth is difficult, but it can be rewarding if you know what to do." He had spent his entire life learning what to do, actually. He kept some of the memories of humans, fascinated by the lives they led.

"I would kind of think that I'd want to stay in Heaven." Vyvyana said, this time blowing on the food before eating it. The first bite was delicious and she savored the taste before swallowing it. As she continued to eat slowly, she rarely spoke as she tried focusing her mind on the food. It was better tasting than she had expecting it to be and she was afraid that she wouldn't be able to enjoy it for too long. The waitress came around the table and offered refills on their drinks.

"Yes, please." She said between bites. Looking up at Rhadamanthys, she offered a small smile. "I'm sorry. This... oatmeal is so good."

"Oatmeal is quite good, but I needed something meaty today." He grinned. Oatmeal was his usual choice, but he felt like a change of pace today. "And honestly, most angels would want to stay there. It's the place that all humans strive to get to one day. Not all of them make it, but you can see that they attempted." He smiled, his eyes glancing outside at the small town street.

Walking by the window was a man that he had seen a few times before. He always had a dark feeling about him, and the fact that he seemed to be staring directly at the pair put him even more on edge. Rhadamanthys nodded a quiet hello to the man, and he grinned, walking away. There was something strange about him.

Vyvyana started to reply to him about how she thought every good person deserved to go to Heaven when a flash of something fierce hit her. Following Rhadamanthys' eyes out towards the man, she shuddered as he grinned and walked off.

"Who is he?" She whispered, trembling slightly. Rhadamanthys didn't seem too phased by the guy so she assumed she was overly sensitive to the negative aura. "He's got a bad vibe to him.."

"I've seen him around town a few times. He calls himself Hadrian Brown, and he works at the grocery store near the edge of town." Rhadamanthys responded calmly. When he had first come to Earth, he was just like Vyvyana, reacting at the prescence of a dark feeling. After a while, though, he learned to mask his reactions. There were a lot of dark prescences on Earth. Not all of them were as dark as Hadrian, though.

"Is he... human?" Vyvyana whispered, her eyes still focused on the spot where the man stood. Her body slowly stopped trembling before she glanced over at Rhadamanthys. Hadrian Brown... She thought to herself. What an odd name.

Finishing her oatmeal and drink, she gave him a smile and thanked him for the meal. "So what are our plans for the rest of the day?" She asked, hoping to put out any feeling she had of that man.

"Now, that, Viv, is the question of the century. I'm not sure if Hadrian is human. If he isn't, I can't tell what he is or where he came from." Rhadamanthys muttered. Hadrian was a strange person that he talked to a few times, but never had any good or bad interactions.

"And as for the rest of our day," Rhadamanthys smiled as he put his fork down. "I promised to take you to the soup kitchen to meet some old friends of mine." He looked at his watch. "We have about twenty minutes before the bus comes, so let's make our way to the stop." He walked out, waving goodbye to Natalie.

Vyvyana frowned as she had hoped that it could be certain that this Hadrian person was nothing more than a odd human. Something just didn't sit right with her but she decided to keep it to herself.

"Sounds like fun." She said with a smile as she got up and followed Rhadamanthys out the door. She had waved and politely thanked the waitress for the food. As they walked down tot he bus stop, Vyvyana took in the many different faces and emotions they gave off. One couple in particular had send a strong wave of love, excitement, and relief. "They must have just gotten engaged..."

Rhadamanthys smiled warmly at the blissfully happy couple. "It's emotions like those that make living here worthwile. The happiness that is felt by humans is one of the most powerful positive feelings that I know of." He watched as they waked off, hand in hand.

Soon, they neared the bus stop. "And here we are!" Rhadamanthys grinned. Glancing down at his watch, he saw that they were ten minutes early. "Well, would you look at that! The bus won't be here for another ten minutes. My timing's getting better and better!" he chuckled as he sat down on the bench.

Vyvyana smiled as she sat down next to Rhadamanthys. "So what do we do as we wait for the bus to arrive?" She asked him. She hummed softly as she swung her legs back and forth. Waiting isn't so bad... She thought to herself. Something out of the corner of her eye caused her to whip her head around. A small gray cat strolled closer to them and let out a hungry meow. Vyvyana frowned as she realized that she had no food for the animal. Looking over towards Rhadamanthys, she tried her best to give him a pleading look to find something small for the cat to eat.
