| Some people are here all the time. Some come and go a few times a week, and some take long breaks for weeks/months. Some are active for ages, but then leave for an indeterminate amount of time.
It's really hard to say what kind of population Midorea has, because it's always fluctuating. I'm not sure if this is correct or not, but it might seem really active right now because of the event happening.

| Yeah, I wish that we could keep people active more regularly.
Any ideas? I'm all ears.
I get on daily by the way. I'm just usually posting in the staff section. It consumes more time for me than you'd think. xP

| I think a lot of the inactivity comes from...well, basically I don't think many people know about Mido like they do Mene or Solia or Roli. ^^; Mido's what, a year and a half now? And still has less than 4,000 registered accounts. That's bad. D:
The site is nice, I don't think you have to do much to the site itself (except maybe more frequent shop updates, but I know pixeling is no small feat), you just have to make people know that it's even here. Advertise, perhaps? It's costly but brings in a lot of members. Right now it's all word of mouth and that's not doing much. To prevent flooding the site all at once I suggest going with a smaller advertising venue, hopefully it'll bring up registrations but not be overwhelming to the staff or existing members.
I sense that a lot of people don't stay because nobody else is here. I know for a fact that I get bored out of my mind sometimes because nobody is here. I tinker around on the battle system, make 3-4 posts, and then leave, simply because there's no activity relative to what it needs to be.
If you simply raise the number of members around, you might see some more of them stick--more users means more people to talk to, which means more activity in the forums, which is good for the site overall.

| Alright, mostly word of mouth. ^^; How often does Mido advertise?
At any rate you're proof that advertising does work, I see you around lots and you're from an advertisement. Just have to find something that's financially reasonable, reaches an audience that would be good for Midorea, and is seen by enough people to make a difference.

| @ecco: Yeah, he have various subforums for events, items, general mod stuff, etc.
@Helen: We actually do advertise on a few sites. Mangabullet for sure; Cat hasn't told me any others. We have ads up year-round too, but maybe there just aren't enough.
Maybe we should advertise a lot this summer to attract a big crowd. The problem with that is that because of the older age base of Mido, summer isn't really that much more active. Most people have jobs.

| helen;
hehe i guess i am proof. I can see what youre saying though
Chu;
aha, cool x3 i guess thats where most of your posts go then? XD i always wondered how you had 13k+ posts yet i dont see you around chatting alot haha!
hmm, maybe advertising needs to be done on other sites with an older age base then?
we certainly attract younger members too though i know that much.
DeviantArt does interesting advertising actually, and has a huge age range youd be seen by. i think your ad stays there until you recieve a certainn number of "clicks" to visit your site. or is that how it works on all sites?? haha i wouldnt know XD

| My posts come from myself and a few other users having massive post-offs where we'd chat in every single hangout thread while Mido was still in beta.
Deviantart could be looked into then. I'll remember that.

| An ad campaign this summer would be great. :3 People are of course working and in college, but lots of others are available. Personally I'd advocate advertising a few days ahead of an event, if you have any summer events this year--usually encourages activity since it offers special items to new users who don't have much.
You definitely don't want to ruin what good things Mido offers to its current members, but if consistent advertising is still bringing in this few members then it's time to make a change if you want to grow. ^^; Perhaps look into bigger sites to advertise on, ones that are guaranteed active. This is an extreme example and would likely be too drastic, but Facebook allows filtered, targeted advertising so it might be worth a shot? It'll likely be expensive, but if you can run a good ad for even a weekend from Facebook (or a similar site) then you can still gain a lot.
Of course all just my opinions and experiences, Cat might have her own ideas and you'll definitely have to put some thought into whatever actions you make, but I'd support it. >w<

| Trust me, we put up ads before and during events. XD That's why we usually get a small influx.
Facebook offers filtered advertising? Maybe that should be looked into. We just don't want a spammy or elitist bunch of people coming in.
Yep, everything is up to Cat, but feedback is always appreciated. If anyone else has suggestions, to prevent further derailing of this topic, feel free to make a thread in the feedback and suggestions forum. :3
@ecco: Crap. XD I type my posts in notepad so I must've messed up when trying to post it. I'll go edit it.
