"Most useful thing in here's either the food," Spencer said, surveying the bag's contents, "Or the books. I'd recommend just keep on using that...what is that? Lord of the Rings Omnibus? Seriously? You're using something like that to crush zombie heads? Geez, use a copy of Twilight, or Superman, or some garbage like that, not Lord of the Rings." Spencer put his head down before he could receive any glares, which were undoubtedly going to come from the woman whose name he had yet to learn.

Lucinda came bounding up the stairs, and Spencer threw himself against the table, forcing the door shut once more. Lucinda was without pursuers, which was a good sign. Quiet did seem to be the key to avoiding these undead. Spencer started his computer again, and brought up the file he'd created for the current crisis, and started altering it, both for the change in number of survivors and for the new information about the zombies. When Lucinda found herself a new weapon, Spencer altered the chart some more, and again when Lucinda came up with the idea of distraction.

"Yea, I'm Spencer, but you can call me Spence. Everyone calls me that, unless they're calling me 'dork' or 'nerd' or 'buttmunch' or...you get the jist. Hella strange circumstances." Spencer degenerated to mumbling again.

"Hey Melony," he said, louder and clear, "You don't happen to have a phone that goes with that charger, do you? Especially one with a signal?"

Lucinda looked at the umbrella that Melony had with her, "Hm, you might be able to keep some zombies back by poking them with the umbrella. Otherwise, smashing their heads in with the book seems good for now." she said. She walked away from the two while they conversed and played around a bit with her new 'toy'. She practiced some of her moves in the corner with the curtain rod. She felt pretty skilled as she flung it around her head and jabbed it at the air until she tripped and bonked herseld in the head with the corner of the rod.

"ack." she said as she layed on her back on the floor. "I hope that doesn't happen in combat..." once she finished her sentence there was what sounded like a click, the "Rrrrnnnggg" noise when the power goes out and suddenly everything went dark.

Lucinda let a small scream, trying not to be too loud, jumped to her feet, and ran in the direction of the table Spencer was sitting at. She fell as she hit his chair causing both of them to crash onto the floor. "It's dark.." she whimpered, began to shake, and closed her eyes knowing it wouldn't make the situation any better.

Melony did glare at Spencer, but only for suggesting that she might be carrying around a Twilight book. "Sorry, but I didn't pick the books I brought because I thought they would be good to destroy while fighting for my life, I'll consiter that next time though."

Melony returned her slightly more battered book to her backpack, along with her other two, the handful of silverware, and the food. "I do have a phone hold on..." she pulled it out of her pocket and unlocked it. "yea, two bars, oh, no wait only one"

She nodded at Lucinda's comment adding her umbrella and phone charger to her bag just as the lights went out. That didn't scare her as much as Lucinda's stiffiled scream though. "Hold on Lucinda I think I have a..." she dug around in her pile of things searching for her key-ring and the small flashlight dangiling from it. "Ah-ha, yea, here it is, she turned it on and cast the small beam of light over to were Lucinda was now curled up in a ball.

"Hey" she said in a soft voice "here" she scooted over to Lucinda and handed her the flashlight. "Spence? What is going on?"

Spencer kept one eye on Lucinda practicing with her new staff as he continued tapping away at his keyboard. He ignored Melony's sarcasm, because a slightly more dire problem arose. The power went out, and with it, Spencer's access to his computer for more than forty five more minutes. That was bad...very bad. While Spencer had his charts and files committed to memory, and would know what to do in certain situations, his companions would not.

Spencer's mind was taken from that problem when Lucinda crashed into him, sending him to the floor. Luckily for Lucinda, she landed on Spencer, who while small and bony, was much softer than the floor. Spencer wasn't quite so lucky.

"Ow," he wheezed, unable to breathe because of the woman on his chest. When Melony asked him what was happening, he suppressed a flicker of annoyance.

"Not a clue," he said back, wriggling out from under Lucinda, "Hey, what's the matter?" The flashlight illuminated Lucinda's terrified face, which he couldn't see because Lucinda had knocked his glasses off his face.

"Melony, what's going on?" Spencer asked, "I can't see a thing."

"Oh! I am sorry!" Lucinda said quickly, as she greatfully took the flashlight and removed herself from Spencer. Still slightly shaky because the rest of the room besides the small beam of light was still dark and ominous to her. "It's just.. it's really dark now." she said trying not to seem like the little baby who was still afraid of the dark. She bit her lip and flashed her light on Spencer and noticed the glasses absent from his face.

"Nobody move," she said quickly as she swept the flashlight across the floor. As soon as she spotted the glasses she picked them up and placed them on Spencer's face, accidentally poking him in the ear with one of the arms.

"But, yeah I am pretty sure the power just went out. This sucks." she said, the fear slightly dripping in her voice. She was still trembling a little as she got up off the ground after helping Spencer with his glasses. She clutched the light in her hand now, even more tighter then she had clutched the knife earlier.

"You don't like the dark do you Lucinda? Thats okay, just don't panic, panic is not what we need at this moment. We need to think of a plan."

Melony thought about all the adventure books she had ever read, all the things she ever learned in school, and the things she had learned about today.

Spence, you said that the zombies operate on sound correct? We rely on our eyes, so now they have an advantage over us right? We need to get that advantage back."

When Spencer pulled his glasses out of his ears, he nodded his thanks to Lucinda, and put them on, blinking owlishly. Sure, he could see things in focus now, but there wasn't enough light to see anything.

"Don't worry about that," he said, picking himself up again, and making sure his computer was intact, "I took a lot worse during school." Once the computer's safety was assured, Spencer shut it down, and stowed it in his bag. As Lucinda was telling Melony of her phobia (which would make this adventure a lot more complicated) Spencer was already thinking of a way to counteract this. He pressed his nose against the windows, trying to see if the other terminals had power, but at that angle, Spencer couldn't tell.

"What we need to do is either get to a spot with lights, giving us our sight back," Spencer said, figuring out the possibilities as he said them, "Or deafen the zombies, taking away their operating sense. Obviously, the lights are bust, but if they are on a different circuit from the PA system, I may be able to get the speakers playing something loud. There are a few problems with that plan though." Spencer started ticking the problems off on his fingers. "First, we don't know if it's the power in general that blew, or just a circuit. Second, I don't know if I can get the PA system to work. Third, even if I could get the PA system to blare some shit out, I'd have to get there, and there are a bunch of zombies in the way. Anyone have any suggestions?" Spencer really hoped that they didn't, because he really didn't want to go out there. With Lucinda like this, she'd be a hindrance, so she would have to stay in the Crown Room, leaving Spencer only with Melony to watch his back. He'd rather have the person who kills zombies (virtual zombies, but still zombies) rather often watching his back.

Luce clentched her jaw, when she had a slight flash of annoyance, because for crying out loud, she was 22 and some teenage girl, she supposed, was talking to her like she was a little kid. She shook it off though and turned to Spencer with her flashlight.

"Well, I just have a few questions, if the power is out does that mean the gates would be open, do they lock electronically? If so we could go the way you said would have been safer earlier, because there'll probably be less zombies out there. There may even be some spotlights outside." she said. She walked over to where her make shift bo was sitting and picked it up. With one hand, it was pretty heavy, it had to be solid metal. She moved the flashlight to her mouth so she could hold it with both hands.

"I'm not to bad about the dark as l;ong as I have some light. Sure I am still scared as shit, but the resolve here is that I am with you guys, and being alone in the dark is much more terrifying, than knowing I have some other people around me. I'm not just going to curl up into a ball during a zombie apocolypse because of one small stupid fear." she said firmly, trying to convince herself more than anyone else.

"I'm scared as shit lights, or no lights. I mean, we are in a xombie apocolypse aren't we? The only bright side of having the lights on (no pun intended) is the fact that we can see the un-dead before they are ripping our throats out." She was about to go into how they might be able to smell them, but realized that she probally wasn't contributing much to the conversation.

"Right, gates....so what do you think Spence? I suggest that if we do go we leave our shoes here? They make a bit more noise then bare feet would...but I gues there is always the chance of stepping in something unpleasent." she bit back 'like brains, guts and blood'. "What do you two think? I mean...I've never even killed a zombie, real or vituarl, until today, so I guess I'm the probie here"

Spencer sighed heavily, thinking. He didn't know how the gate doors operated, if they were mechanical or magnetic in nature, although he did know that the walkway from the gate was operated electronically. He closed his eyes, picturing the possible scenarios. Everything that he could think of depended on the inner workings of the pieces of technology he wanted to manipulate, and he didn't know that.

"I don't know about the gate doors," Spencer said finally, "I never learned how they operated. It's possible that they lock electronically, but wouldn't that just mean that they're stuck locked now? I mean, if it locks electronically, it unlocks electronically, and unless it's a magnetic seal, it's probably still locked. The shoes thing is a good idea though, just because it's a tile floor in parts." Spencer started chewing his nails nervously. He couldn't see the airport floor, or if anything was moving around.

"I do know that there are lights out on the tarmac," he said after a moment, "Meant to help landing planes, but they're pretty bright." More nail chewing.

"I do know that the AirTran doors are forced shut electronically," he said after a moment, "so those would be easier to open. If we try the gate doors, and we can't open them, we can always go to the AirTran."

"Alright, well I think we should just go for the AirTran doors then. Instead of getting possibly stuck at the gates." she decided, her voice slighty muffled by the flashlight in her mouth. She slipped her chucks off her feet and crinkled her nose. "Cold floor, it's probably going to get cold pretty quick now that the heat isn't working. I knew I should have worn more than just a tank top in 20° nightime weather." It seemed like her realization made something inside her go, 'oh I should be cold' be cause she instantly felt a shiver go through her spine.

"Everyone gather your things, we should start moving." she said, getting pretty used to talking with a flashlight between her teeth. Though, her words came out seeming more... gruff. She hoisted her makeshift bo onto her shoulder and held it with just one hand, like a jock walking onto a baseball feild with his baseball bat.

She waited for everyone to get their things together and began her flight down the stairs. "Help me with this table," she said, and leaned the bo against the wall to help whoever helped her.

Melody took off her shoes, mentally agreeing with Luce. "Oh wait!" she exclaimed softly "here" she softly padded over to this dicard pile of her things, pulling out her extra pair of clothes, the pants wouldn't help, but the sweatshirt and the long-sleeved shirt would. She handed Luce the sweatshirt and took her back pack off, pulling the long-sleeved shirt on top of her other, then putting her back pack onto of that.

She put a couple of forks in her pocket, for easy access, and picked up her book. Following Luce down the stairs she paused at the bottom and grabbed the other end of the table, gently and quietly moving it out of the way.

"Shouldn't we check to make sure nothing unpleasent is behind those doors before we go skipping out?" She whispered as quietly as she could.

Spencer pulled his own sweatshirt out of his bag, and slipped into it. Ironically, it was his sweatshirt that was stylized to look like the wearer had weathered a zombie attack. He slipped off his shoes, showing off his stripey fuzzy socks, and put his shoes into his bag. When he was sure he hadn't forgotten anything too useful, he picked up his frying pan again, ready for anything. He waited patiently for the girls to move the table, and then pressed his ear up against the wood. A few moments passed in silence as Spencer tried to ascertain whether or not there were any zombies waiting for them.

"I think we're alone," he said quietly, "I don't hear anyone outside." He opened the door slowly, praying it wouldn't creak. It didn't. Spencer's ears had not lied to him; there were no zombies on the stairs. Spencer put his fingers to his lips, signaling silence, the crept down the stairs. He knew where the AirTran door was, and he was the only one so he'd have to lead the way. He moved slowly, eventually pausing and the bottom of the stairs to listen for any movement. Once again, he heard nothing, and poked his head out into the open.

Luce greatfully took the sweatshirt but the long sleeve shirt seemed too small, because Luce after all was about 6 inches taller than Melody. The sweatshirt fit fine, a little snug but do-able. She handed the long sleeve shirt back to Melody and whispered a thanks to her.

After situating everything she grabbed her bo and followed Spencer. She held the flashlight firmly between her teeth, and tried to lean over Spencer's shoulder to give him some light in the direction he was facing.

"I don't see any zombies right now, where do you think they went." she chuckled to herself when she made a a tiny story on why they left. 'maybe they are like moths attrached to light' she thought to herself. Though that wasn't probable since they were blind.

Melony followed quickly behind the other two, staying as close as she could without tripping them, after all, it was usually the person in the back who got into trouble.

Every step she took seemed to be multiplide by a thousand, she tried walking on the balls of her feet, that seemed to help a little bit. Now that she wasn't consentrating on how much noise she was making she was acutly aware to the lack of noise around them. The expression about dropping a pin would fit in very nicely here, but Melony feared that if somebody did drop a pin they would get hit hard with a bo and a book.

Spencer seemed to know where he was going so Melony kept her eyes out for any sign of movement in the dark. Though it was really hard to see things in the dark with the light of the flash light in front of her.

"Hey Luce?" she whispered "I know you don't want to hear this, but I think it would be easier to see with the flash light off? To let our eyes adjust? Besides it would be really good to save the batteries. What do you think?" She didn't want Luce scared, or angry at her, but it would be easier to see and oncoming zombie.
