Casting Aside the Veil (me and Tsemara)

[Tsemara]

(Well, mine are fairly trained, but think they're lap dogs. So they would try to get onto your lap if you sit down near them.)

"That's the truth of it," Jennak nodded. "Makes me wonder why we were paired up, if we have little in common. Not that it's a bad thing," she added hastily.

[Yare]

(Ideally, they wouldn't try and get in your lap unless they were invited. It's all right if they get off/stop their attempt when told to, though.)

Shelno chuckled. 'Guess they figured we could each bring something to this. Either that or they didn't do their research.'

[Tsemara]

(One is still technically a puppy. The other knows better and usually gets off when told to. Unfortunately, my siblings spoil them, so my attempts at training don't always get the same result.)

Jennak pondered over this for a moment. "I have a feeling it's the latter, but I suppose that the first one works too.

[Yare]

(Grah. I hate people who spoil dogs.)

Shelno grinned. 'I think it's the latter, too. Too few people realise werewolves are pack animals.'

[Tsemara]

(It drives me crazy, too.)

"Well, if regular wolves are pack animals, why wouldn't people think the same about were's?" Jennak inquired.

[Yare]

'Because they have the "romantic" vision of lone wolves.' Shelno almost growled the last word. 'A lot of werewolves live in human towns, but we have to switch whenever they find out about us - which tends to be at or just after the full moon. I think that helps along the idea werewolves move frequently. A lot of us have to keep to ourselves more than we like when we live in towns, too, in case humans notice anything, so that probably has something to do with it, too.'

[Tsemara]

Jennak huffed. "I suppose that would give people the wrong impression about your species."

[Yare]

Shelno nodded. 'Are there any misconceptions about your species?'

[Tsemara]

"Only that we like to seduce mortals for the fun of it, and eat babies, steal people's souls, and that generic nonsense," Jennak shrugged. "Frankly I think the thought of being friendly with mortals is repulsive. And they don't taste very good either."

[Yare]

'Do incubi and succubi exist, then?' Shelno asked.

[Tsemara]

"Yeah, but they're a different class of demon than I am," Jennak replied. "Or something like that. I don't really know all the specifics. But anyway, what kind of story to you think mortals tell their offspring at night? The ones about the demon families that enjoy spending time with humans and try to coexist is a peaceful manner? Or the stories about the ones that want to open hexgates and kill or enslave everyone they see?"

[Yare]

'Those are the sorts of things they tell about werewolves,' Shelno said. 'They make us out to be savage things that bite that bite without mercy.'

[Tsemara]

"Or they tell those stories horrendous stories about being redeemed by falling in love with a mortal and all that drivel," Jennak scowled.

[Yare]

Shelno shook her head darkly. 'So few of us even need "redemtion". The ones that do would never get better by loving humans.'

[Tsemara]

"That's the damn truth of it," Jennak practically hissed. "What bothers me is that we can be considered to be products of human fancy, and they can't even get us right."
