Ghostly problems (Me and Maverik)

[Yare]

'We can if we want to,' Ynx said. 'Some ghosts do it if they want to pretend they're alive.'

[Maverik]

"Does the food do anything for you besides taste good?" vanis was once again curious as to how ghosts functioned, and he couldn't help but voice this curiosity..

[Yare]

Ynx shook her head. 'Nothing at all,' she said. 'We use it as a treat for kids sometimes, though.'

[Maverik]

"That's a shame..." Vanis wasn't quite sure what to ask now, his questions gone from his mind as he sat down to eat. The relatively empty room brought another question up, though, and the skeleton turned to Ynx. "How big is Death, anyways?"

[Yare]

Ynx thought about it, a faintly puzzled look on her face. 'I don't know,' she said. 'I've never been around all of it.'

[Maverik]

"Is it really that expansive? Then again, I suppose it has to be, if it's accommodating everything that's died..." Vanis paused for a moment, before speaking out again. "And there are no conflicts whatsoever? I figured that all the variety would be a source of tension..."

[Yare]

'There are conflicts, but it's very easy to get away from those we don't like, so they don't often escalate,' Ynx said. 'Most of the problems are caused by ghosts trying to get out of Death and back to Earth.'

[Maverik]

(( >< I'm really sorry about my delayed response, Yare. Too much school stuff has been popping up. ))

"But I doubt the people who start the conflicts would just walk away. Unless Death instantly purges everyone of their pride, wrath, and all that other stuff, I really don't see people walking away." Still, Vanis' words were only based on how people acted while they're still alive. Maybe everyone grew some sense when they transfer to the other side... though the fact that there are ghosts trying to cause trouble certainly counters that theory.

[Yare]

'That depends,' Ynx said. 'A lot of ghosts have said dying really changes your perspective on things. Some still really want to get out, but very few ordinary ones do. The ghosts who are serious about escaping tend to take one of three paths; they become Strengths, who focus on physical prowess to break out of Death and overcome Ghost Finders; Smarts, who focus on mental abilities to break out and outwit Ghost Finders; and Stresmarts, who rely on a combination of both. It can take centuries to perfect mental or physical capabilities. Jack the Ripper became a Strength, and as a result he's only begun breaking out recently.'

[Maverik]

"Stresmarts...?" The skeleton couldn't help but wonder who came up with that term. He didn't dwell on that, though, as another thought came up. Slowly scooping a fork full of the pasta into his... jaws, Vanis spoke again. "Wait... What category does 'convinces all the other, less intelligent ghosts to do your bidding, then overthrow the council' fall under?"

[Yare]

'Yeah, we're not very imaginative,' Ynx said as he wondered at the word. When he voiced his question, she answered immediately and without hesitation. 'Smarts,' she said. 'My guess is that Cassandra's been dead a while.'

[Maverik]

"Cassandr-... Oh, right. The ghost we're trying to get." Vanis shook his head, unsure of how he forgot that detail. "Does that mean we're going to have to fight an army of ghosts, then?

[Yare]

'Probably not all at once,' Ynx said. 'Ones or twos at a time, probably.'

[Maverik]

"Okay then..." Vanis finished his meal, rising up discard the contents of his tray. He soon sat back down, motioning to take a sip of his drink before realizing he hadn't gotten any. Sighing, he set the empty cup down on the table, too lazy to get up again.

"What sort of capabilities will these ghosts have? Actually... What sort of combat capabilities do ghosts have in general?"

[Yare]

Ynx was silent for a while. 'I can't say,' she said. 'There are some better fighters and some worse fighters. And ghosts fight quite differently from the living. It's...it's just hard to explain.'
