| So, everyone, today is Cat's birthday!  Since I can't personally do anything (damn poorness and lack of artistic talent) I decided to host a party thread. I even made a cake!

| HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CAT! We love you, you're awesome, and you deserve more than a stupid picture of a cake, but I fail, so this is all you'll get. </3 Oh, and some avatars dedicated to you.
Branny did some detective work (tricking Cat into answering questions) and found out her favorite items. So, I'll be hosting three avatar contests:
ARI
Cat's favorite ARI is the Lothar. The winner of this contest will receive *drumroll* Lothar! (Or 20g.)
BMI
Cat's favorite BMI is the Cape of the Deities. The winner of this contest will receive nothing. Just kidding! XD They will receive a Cape of the Deities. (Or 10g.)
Common
Cat's favorite commons are Empire Dresses. The winner of this contest will receive the entire set of Empire Dresses. (Or two Bags of Silver.)
Old Common
Cat's favorite commons from beta-testing were the shendyts. The winner of this contest will receive the set of shendyts. (Or one Bag of Silver.)
Weaseldale
All entries can be created with MAD or saved as your avatar. Each person may only win one contest, but they may enter all of them. Just pm me your entries and I'll be sure to post them. (One entry per person per category.) The deadline is this Friday at 8:00pm EST, and prizes will be sent out the day after.

I don't tell anyone my age anymore, so for now I'll just say I'm probably much younger then you'd think. .gif)
What inspired you to create midorea?
This is a hard one to answer, as "inspired" could mean so many things...
But my main reason, my inspiration to create Midorea was to do something totally different. To prove everyone wrong about what an avatar site can be... And most importantly, to be unique.
I wanted to create something that would leave an impression on people. So when they would look back on us, they would remember our creativity more than anything.
That was my inspiration, and I'll leave it at that.
How long did the planning and creation process take to bring midorea online?
I had played with the idea of starting an avatar site for a while, back when I was just beginning to pixel.
It never really went anywhere, as I thought it would be too hard and too much to handle all on my own. (and plus I didn't think my art skills were good enough)
Then I wasn't quite happy with how the site I was working for at the time was being managed(it wasn't Nox to be clear, as I had never worked for them), so that's when I seriously began thinking of starting a site.
I talked with one of my friends, MaxR(you've probably seen him around the forums) about it, and we threw around ideas for the name. One of them was Suehra, but I've long forgotten the others. XD
I don't really remember when Arikana got involved, but I think it was pretty early on in the development.
Alu was one of my very first NPCs for the site, and started off VERY different from what he is now. He was originally going to be a deity/god, but that changed rapidly. Then came Miu, and of course the Midorea "mascot". (the green feathers) The story was essentially the same, a world based around some of the greatest civilizations(China, Ancient Peru, Egypt, Rome, Greece) and ruled by Deities.
And finally, the name I decided on was Midoria, but the domain was already taken so I tweaked it around to Midorea. (and honestly I am allot more pleased with this spelling)
That was the middle of June, 2008. From then on we worked on expanding the story, designing a layout and npc/item art.
Not much else to say.
I was there during the open beta, that was a long time ago. lol! What was the best feed back you go during the beta that kept you going?
I feel bad for saying this as there probably was some, but I honestly don't remember much positive feedback.
There was allot of helpful feedback though, which gave us things to work towards. (keep us going I guess)
What was your favorite item during the open?
You mean like when we first opened?
Erm, we didn't have many items. But I guess I'd have to say the shendyts.
What's you current favorite common featured on the site?
Ohh, there's so many to choose from lol! I'm really fond of the empire dresses though.
What's you current favorite Relic on the site?
Ahh, that's tough. D: But I'd have to say the Lothar, it's my favorite one hands down.
How about favorite Black Market item?
Cape of the deities. xD
Speaking of BMI, what inspired that concept, was it Nox?
Yes and no, really. But mainly yes. It was also inspired by suggestions from users on other sites.
What type of media inspires the ideas behide the items, themes and stories here on Midorea?
Erm, anything with bright colors lol.
But being serious, allot of our inspiration comes from real life. Like ancient cultures/mythology, modern fashion/technology and the like.
I don't know of any type of media that we draw from specifically.
What sort of ideas do you have planned for the future you can share with us?
Well, we hope to expand the manga and make it a big part of the site from now on. =)
And also we are planning several non-event quests. .gif) That's all I can say for now...

| Don't forget that Maeve and LUF were a part of this too! The only reason that LUF's signature isn't on there yet is because I got the image sent to all of them really late, so it's completely my fault.
Just like you'd sign a card. Leave a little note congratulating her for her birthday or whatever. Y'know, the normal stuff. *completely braindead*
I stayed up until 2AM for that cake. >_> I dare someone to diss my cake decorating skills.
And yes, just make an avatar that looks good with that item. I'll be the only one judging them.
