Hello fellow photographers!! I am always disappointed to not see any photo threads on any of these forum sites, so i finally decided to make my own.
I'm mainly a black and white film photographer, i shoot with a Canon AE-1, been into photography for 2 years {though i loved my little point-n-shoot when i was 5 :P}

So here's a place to talk about your favourite forms of photography, photo manipulation, fun techniques, and ask questions of your fellow photographers.
feel free to post examples of your work, photos that inspire you, whatever.

Oh, photo thread! How nice!

I personally like using film, black and white or color, depending mainly on what I want to do, and the old Pentax from my parents, with all the nice zooms and filters and stuff they have to go with it. Though, I've started modifying pictures a couple years ago with the help of my not-so-trustworthy computer, so I mostly use a small HP Photosmart M517 digital camera nowadays. It's not especially great, but I save me some time developing and scanning everything, which is still a big plus. I'll probably buy a larger, more perfomant one later, Canon or Kodak or Pentax, but for now the small one is fine.

I've been into photography for about 4 years now, though I mostly get photo-rage for like a month or so, and then forget about it for a couple months, before I get another rage...

I'm a noob with photography, but I love doing it.
I only have a digital camera thats now consistered old, so I'm a loser. :/
but I love talking pictures of everything.
I love taking outside photos mostly scenery and my friends when we have photoshoots. I usually like lots of color, but black and white is good too. ^^
Still a noob with photo editing on the computer, but yeah. >w<

Also, my dad had the hobby of photography when I was little, so theres like a billion pictures of me at theme parks and all. He was pretty good.
I dunno if he'll ever give me his equipment. Never really asked. >w<

Cheers to you fellow photographers.

I took a few classes in High school but it is more of a hobby then any thing else.
I love black and white, my dear Nikon still works and I think I have a role of film left for it >>; But with no darkroom I am out for actually doing any more traditional film for a time.
But my D60 and I are good friends and I love taking photos with it. Mainly lowlight and recently a few Theatrical photos. That and every now and again for the school paper as they pay for them >>;
I also have a little point and shoot that dose so pretty decent stuff in the right light and settings. But do to several meetings with the floor is temperamental and dosen't allways work.

yeah, lack of a darkroom can be somewhat detrimental to the flow of film photography.

I'm not too great with color or digital, i can never seem to get the settings right or something, but i end up with only ok pics. for the most part i'm strictly darkroom.

I love digital, mostly because I love playing with my pictures and modifying them, so even if, let's say, the light isn't quite right or the colors don't come out as good as what I want, I can always correct them later on... when I have time of course, which doesn't happen much often right now...

I guess I would prefer b&w film if I had a darkroom to go with it, which I don't... too bad, but for what I need, my digital camera does the job (i.e it takes not-so-bad pictures, and good one sometimes).

@riddle.me.this I need to find a place that will let me use their darkroom. It is rather soothing to be working on photos in there. I guess it reminds me of back stage so that helps too as that is a place I love to be.

I know these days too you can do a lot of the fancy things with computers that before took a good sense of the photo and a good bit of skill to do in a dark room. So I have more respect for photographers who can still use film to make better if not more captivating photos that way.

I had troubles at first with my DSLR, but I found that I had to go to a full manual mode to recreant some of the photos my SLR had done. It likes to chirp at me that I either don't have enough light or don't have the right focus. Some thing the SLR would have never known >>;

@Maeve {love your name btw}
yeah, digital can be fantastic if you know how to use it, and i most certainly do not lol
there was a guy in my class this semester who was working on transferring digital to darkroom and visa versa, and he made some beautiful prints and played with weird overlapping techniques. And i use editing programs when i scan my prints kus my scanner is crap, so that's nice, but i like playing with weird techniques in the darkroom

@Kerry
yeah, darkrooms can be comforting places. They can get damn hectic sometimes, especially around finals lol

I can't use digital cameras at all, i mean i can change a couple settings but i only have a little point n shoot thing, any good pics are generally flukes haha

Thanks! ^^

Yush, I would love to have access to a darkroom, and some time to really learn how it works lol. I took a class of photography back in high school, but the teacher was another student, and he kinda got bored and decided to stop, just before we had a chance to work with the darkroom...

That's why I love digital so much. But since my camera isn't really better than a point-and-shoot, it focuses on what you don't want half of the time... Anyway, it's still not so bad, since I mostly take photo to remember interesting things I've seen, like I would do doodles of them if I had times, so I don't worry to much about the final quality of them. I mean, I'm not planning on exposing any of the pictures I have taken with it, so even if they are sometimes a bit blurry or the light sucks, as long as I can see what I want...

I'll try to upload some when I have time, since there all lost somewhere on a usb key...

Notes for the future:
-> have a darkroom
-> buy a better camera
... or maybe the other way around?

I love photography! I've been into it for about 4 years now. Was using a P&S up until Dec 2007. Then used my parents Nikon D40 until I bought my baby, a Pentax K10D.

I love macro photography, and I do like to edit my photos in photoshop. Happy Selective color is the best color editor to use IMO. XD

I have a film SLR but I don't like the idea of taking the film to Walmart and I have no way to have a dark room(plus those materials are SO expensive! $700+ just for an enlarger...)

I also have a Lomography Diana+. I'm really curious how my photos will look, but I haven't got the film back from the developer yet.

Oh and I found a really good place to get cheap DSLRs. They are used, but I bought my K10D for $400 when the going price was $800 and it is pretty much brand new. Nothing wrong with it, not even scratches on the body. Http://www.KEH.com

OMG I love your photos! And re-OMG you got a Pentax! That's exactly what I want to get, mostly because my parents have a really, really old Pentax with multiple lenses and filters and other funny things, and most new Pentax are still compatible with it...

Oooh awesome! I definitely encourage you to get one! All of the Canon and Nikon lovers try to trash talk Pentax but really it's just as good as the rest of them! I even love my camera more than the Nikon or Canon's I have used because it has a weather proof body~ and just other reasons I prefer it for.

And with all of those free extras just waiting for you, that's awesome. ^^

You get some fantastic color in your doll shots. And I really like your cloud shots!! i haven't figured out the best way to do those with my Canon yet, maybe that'll be a summer project...
I haven't used any other cameras besides my Canon AE-1s, but I have my grandmother's old medium format Rolleiflex. I would love to try other cameras though

there's my deviantart, i have a few ok shots up but my scanner is a piece of shit so most of em had to be messed with a bit. there's some sketches too but they're not the best

it's not too hard, it's pretty simple once you get the hang of it. At first you have to write the process down and follow the directions, but eventually you'll be able to go by memory and instinct.
The hard part is figuring out the right setting combination on your camera to get the effects you want with light.
