How to talk about this without sounding like a complete pervert?

Well I have always had an interest in Hentai. More from an artistic viewpoint than a sexual one. It always interested me, particularly the way bodys interact together and the emotional charges given to the characters. Unfortunately I have had little chance to experiment in this particular field because there are few places that I can publish and accept GOOD feedback on it. >.<

Now I can understand the need to keep it from children. And I can even understand how some people may find it offencive particularly some of the more disgusting things even I wont touch. But I really dont see why everyone views it as such a tasteless artform.

What exactly is so tasteless with expressing your sexual side?

Hentai often deals with neiches in the sexual market which can't be done with live action simply because it would be cruel to the actors or just isn't physically possible. Also like all porn it's hoplessly sexist in it's portrayal of both women and men.

Though i actually find the sex in alot of hentai (and porn for that matter) helarious for it's inaccuracies and the noises the actors make. xD

However, if you want to experiment with portraying animated sex go for it! There are thousands of people on the web doing it independantly allready and if you can make yourself a neich in the market they'll likely be able to offer you help. As far as advice goes you may want to approach a collective site such a slipshine or one of the many "erotic" scanlation collectives about asking their many artists/members to critique your work since they're all sucessful in the feild of comic book porno (even if they don't draw it themselves) and most of them have webcomics of various types aswell (for slipshine atleast).

But then it depends on what sexuality you wish to portray who you go too. Either way i'm kinda curious on what your produceing. :P

I was refering more to images rather than animetion but its basically the same thing I guess.

I've never been really fond of live action porn it just doesnt interest me at all for one reason or another. I think its because its to literal.

And ahh i missinterpreted you. Becuase to me hentai moves, and manga doesn't. It's just explicit manga if it's porno. But yeah, Biblios Eros and Liquid Passion are yaoi manga scanlators (they specialise in the more explicit stuff too), Hochuuami, So Da Sexy, Forever More (specialises in manga with mind blowingly beautiful artwork but i think they're dissbanded) are some yaoi scanlators you might try.

For the het and yuri group the only "collective" so to speak i can think of slipshine and they do all their own artwork so they're probably better to aproach. But most of them are more cartoony in style then realistic. Apparently Josh Lesnik (who runs Slipshine, Doctor Voluptua and Girly (which is an awsome webcomic)) is really nice, and there is afew dozen differant artists in the collective (not all male either) so you might find atleast one person willing to help. :3

Were you looking at the more realistic route or the catoony feel?

EDIT: But then we have the Furry Fandom thread and the 18+ thread so we shouldn't be stabbed too hard compared to that. xD

There is very little that I am not willing to try. I'm extremely open minding about almost everything. Granted I dont see ANYTHING interesting in nasty potty fetish stuff. Its not for me to judge others tastes.

I've gotten I think to a point where I want to broaden my art into other areas and experiment with other things.

If nothing else I now have some nice new mangas to read xD

Why do I find it so irritateing that people are shocked that I as a woman want to draw this sort of thing?

People are stupid, i'm not at all suprised that you want to draw and get involved in the scene, there are lots of women allready involved and the market of women that read the stuff is immense!

It's just not as socially acceptable for women to talk about that kind of stuff. I mean for men it's weird if you don't talk about masturbating and porn, but for women it's shocking (pfft) if you do. Which is stupid because i've only met one women over the age of 18 in my entire life (that i know of) that doesn't masturbate. *shrugs*

Yeaaaah, scat, guro/snuff and beastiality just freak me the hell out and i stay faaaar faaaaar away.

But yeah, i know dozens of scanlation sites so if you need help with anything drop me a line. : )

I wish you luck improving your art and style. All i can say is do as much anatomy study as you can, since it's especially important if your drawing nudes. Alot of manga artists (in particular) forget that and it's really detrimental to their work.

I'm interested in seeing what you come up with. : )

Anyway, even though I'm really not fond of hentai, yaoi, yuri, or real porn, I think it's awesome that you're getting into that type of thing, considering you're into the artistic aspect rather than the, well, nasty ones.

Your original post didn't respond to the first post either which was about the industry and hentai as an art form. And why people find it tasteless as opposed to a straight yes or no answer that most people have given (yourself included).
