Hello, Midorea.

I've been a little nervous about posting, since I've read that this place is pretty close knit. I don't know. I guess I just feel like an outsider right now. ^^;; Hopefully that will change.

My name is Apodyopsis, but if you wanted to know what it means, well, it's the act of mentally undressing someone. I don't know why I chose it. Thought it was funny, I suppose.

What else is there to know about me?

I have a neglected love for reading, and I write quite often. Mostly role playing nowadays, but it's something I enjoy, so I don't mind. I'm also a college student (Sophomore), and going to get my Masters in Education. I'm hoping to one day teach high school English.

I also read tarot, and own three decks. I also am in a pretty serious (albeit currently long distance) relationship.

I hope to see you guys around the site, and I'd love it if you asked me any sort of questions, or just welcomed me.

Thanks.

-Apo

Close knit? I hope that is a way of saying friendly. I'm happy to see new blood Cool

I love tarot although I never really got into the official spiritual aspect of it. I used to cast them and just make up stories for people based on the readings. I got pretty good at making stuff up although I made sure the people I was reading for understand that it was nothing more than just a story.

I considered naming myself Schadenfreude which is a German word for 'Taking pleasure in another persons misfortune' but I can never remember or even pronounce it so I went with something easier!

Right now posting is down a bit because a lot of the players are focused on school. Real life first is a good motto when it comes to computer games. But there are still a few of us on to keep things moving a bit.

Where did you hear about Midorea?

Oh, I can totally understand about the school thing. I'm finishing up my third semester in college right now, and am in the last two weeks of it. Which basically means I have a lot of stuff due soon. lol

I have a question about the tarot, though. Did you actually learn the card meanings, or did you just make them up? I mean, tarot can be really subjective, and it sounds like you had fun, I was just wondering if you drew from any of the traditional meanings.

I heard about Midorea... well, I heard about it a long time ago. I can't remember where. I might have just been googling avatar forum sites awhile back... It was a few years, I think. Anyway, this place is still here, and so I wanted to finally commit.

Edit: Thank you for the welcome, Copper!

I bought a Tarot deck with dragon artwork at an SCA event (society for creative anachronism). I mainly bought it for the artwork but there was a reference sheet inside that described the simple meanings for all the cards, both straight and reversed. That was easy to learn. I think I spent an hour or two doing some internet follow-up research but not more than that. I just used the cards to sketch out plot lines and then exaggerated the meanings to fit the stories.

I also carved some Viking bone runes out of an old dry cow shoulder bone I found in a field once. I based the runes off an old book of Viking runes I checked out at the library. By the way, cutting dry cow bones with a circular saw smells really bad!

You are focusing on an Education Masters?? You know that most people get an education to finally get OUT of school, right? Going through years and years of schooling just so you can spend the rest of your career teaching at schools seems a bit counterproductive. I hope that you can deal with a lot of whiney, complaining, and unruly children .. and yes I am talking about college students Jab
Seriously though thanks for wanting to make world a smarter place.

That is awesome that you're into tarot. I have a deck but was never able to sit down and learn.

I'm just afraid some of these posts are kinda old and inactive so I don't want to necro them. xD

But I really do appreciate the advice. I'll try to chat where I can!

We're just close knit in the way we treat each other, not how we treat new people. This place is very welcoming to new players. Don't worry too much about necroing posts, most of the time when that happens the response is "Oh yeah, that thread!" and they stay and chat with you for a while.

Hi, Apodyopsis! I've not been on here for long, and everyone's been really friendly. Even Kathira (who is my daughter in Real Life)!!! Although I wouldn't eat her welcome cake - she really can't cook! Wink
