Hi all~
Long time no see~

Speaking of birthdays!!! Mine was on the 29th.
I got me a PS Vita from my hubbie.
So far all I've got is Disgaea 3, as far as Vita games go.
But I've got Rayman 1 & 2, I bought them off the network, along with a couple of other games.
Mostly Indie stuffs.
I want to get that Rayman one that just came out for the Vita though, it's got some pretty cool stuffs in it. It uses both front an dback touch screens.... I'm also looking into getting Little Big Planet for it.
I tried it out on a demo a while back, and I enjoyed the first two games they made so. x3

Yeah I know I'm an odd gamer.

I would be playing Zelda right now but I'm stuck on this boss and it's too early for there to be any walkthroughs. Anyone else get the new Zelda? I'm really loving it so far.

KathiraNarae on another site wrote:
That reminds me, I did an editorial/rant about the Sealing of Evils into Cans and it never working on another site. It's primarily humorous, so I'll put it here for your enjoyment. It contains spoilers for any LoZ game out by now, even the ones I haven't played (which includes the latest). Enjoy! Just skip it if you don't want spoilers.

Sealing things in cans and the fact that it NEVER works
I thought I'd lead off with this one based off a Doctor Who episode. It said episode from the Tom Baker era, an evil that was sealed in a can tried to get out. The Doctor was asked why the Big Bad was sealed, not killed, and answered that that would have made the good guys as bad. Which begs the obvious question:
WHY THE HELL DID THEY FEEL THE NEED TO ENDANGER THE PEOPLE AROUND AT THE TIME OF THE ESCAPE TO AVOID A BIT OF TARNISH ON THEIR SOULS FOR DOING AN ULTIMATE GOOD THING?!

LoZ is guilty as hell for this. It is a cardinal rule spoken by anyone exposed to fiction for long enough that an Evil should always be killed, not sealed in a Can. If it is impossible to kill the Evil, then keep in for as long as possible, and make sure to leave a ton of failsafes so the innocents around can put the Evil back in its Can with relative ease. Many people would benefit from doing this.

LoZ never follows this rule. The only exception I can think of is Majora since he didn't so much escape his can as turn into it. But the others? Let's count them off, shall we?

Demise
Demise is The Imprisoned, whose name obviously means 'Sealed Evil in a Can'. Throughout the game, The Imprisoned has to be fought as otherwise it'll get out of its Can, and then you have to fight the definately out-of-his-Can Demise at the end of the game. Said final battle ends with Demise sealed in the Master Sword. So, into a different Can that has yet to be reopened.

But here's the thing. He got out of the first Can. How long before he gets out of the second? If he absolutely can't (impossible, since he's an Evil in a Can), then why was he put into his first Can and not the Master Sword (which would've been made purely as a Can by this point)? That's the thing about Cans, they DON'T. LAST. The Evil will ALWAYS get out, making death the only sure fire method of beating an Evil for good. And even that doesn't always work.

But at least Demise vs. Hylia has more excuse than Demise's creation.

Ganondorf/Ganon/Dorfy/G
Ganon(dorf) (also known as Dorfy and G by this particular fangirl) is the product of Demise's curse as he was being sealed into his second Can. But Ganondorf is even more vulnerable to unnecessary canning that Demise. The guy's easier to kill and gets out of his Cans so often they're probably made of cardboard. Wet cardboard. Or possibly soggy paper.

Yes, the Sacred Realm is made of soggy paper.

Let's start with the Fall Timeline. This is the timeline in which Link becomes a corpse and the sages manage to shove G into the Sacred Realm Can regardless. Avoiding the obvious question of why Link was needed in the first place (seriously, the sages have a freaking ninja), this sealing was unecessary, as the next chronological game, LttP, involves Link actually killing G. G does indees die, as otherwise Yuga and Twinrova wouldn't need to resurrect the guy. Ressurection only works on guys who are dead.

So why did the sages stuff G into a Can in OoT fall-verse? I mean, they have a freaking ninja who has the freaking Twiforce of Wisdom. Why couldn't Zelda have switched to Sheik, grabbed the bow and Master Sword, and made a porcine pincushion? It woulda worked and the rest of the Fall timeline wouldn't have happend. Much more happiness all around!

But what about the Adult timeline? In this timeline Link beats G and the sages stuff G into the soggy paper Sacred Realm. G (of course) escapes it in WW's backstory, at which point the Golden Goddesses construct a Can around G. G gets out of that, almost wins, and gets taken for granite. So, did he need the Triforce of Power to avoid dying? Probably not, TP demonstrated that well. So why didn't Link and/or the sages actually kill G at the end of OoT? G can be killed, even with his power, LttP showed that well enough. So why the hell was he stuffed into his Can in the first place? Conclusion: sages are idiots.

So, now TP. G was arrested at the start of the Child Timeline's OoT. Jails are not Cans. No, it was after the initial arrest and his trial that G was stuffed into a Can. This Can was the Twilight Realm. Unlike most exmples here, this sealing was actually in response to the sensible thing! The sages attempted to execute G. But he didn't die. Clearly, TP Din is not WW Din because where WW Din tried to seal her champion when he went off the rails, TP Din is a sadist who gives her champion the means to be an overlording jerk. But either way, the sages on this occasion tried to do the sensible thing and kill Ganondorf. Sucks for them that they failed, two worlds went to hell, and Link had to save the day AGAIN. Conclusion: sages are incompetant.

Malladus
This guy is as unkillable as Demise, and probably also made my Demise's curse. Maybe he should meet G? No, wait, bad idea, they'd destroy the solar system. Malladus was stuck into a Can by the spirits in ST, only to be broken out by slimy git Cole. While this had the totally awesome effect of Zelda possessing phantoms, the spirit are still idiots. One Temple Force Gem powers a whole quadrant's tracks, which is kinda stupid for keeping the Evil in its Can. The spirits, being powerful beings who made the tracks and the Tower themselves, should've had several temples with Force Gems in in each quadrant, so that some are redundant and don't affect sealing power if taken over/destroyed etc. Add in several towers, not just one, and you have several foci that can keep the tracks going even if one tower is shattered. Let's see Cole break this lot, then.

Vaati
Dear goddesse, Vaati. From what I know (despite never having played a game with him in), he is as unkillable as Demise and Malladus. Maybe they should meet each other? No, wait, bad idea, we'd say goodbye to reality. But Vaati's also probably a creation of Demise's, who broke things before G came along according to the official timeline. As far as I know, Vaati's Can is, has been, and will be the Four Sword, first used at the end of MC. He was stuck in than Can until FS, when he got out and was shoved back in until FSA, where G's machinations broke Vaati out. Vaati was shoved back into the Four Sword (must be boring) and hasn't left it since. But how did he get out of the Four Sword after the first sealing? I have found no explanation, which can only maen one thing. The Four Sword is a terrible Can. Only a matter of time before he breaks out. I mean, come on, it lasted less time than Demise's first Can!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
That's all the Evils I can think off of the top of my head, but I can't end without mentioning this Good sealed in a Can.

Midna
Okay, so we know Zant was insane, but did he really think a Baleful Polymorph would work? Midna was a sealed Good in an alternate form, functionally a Can. A highly ineffectual one, but still a Can. But considering who Zant's master was and how many times said master has broken out of Cans himself, Zant really was an idiot.

END CONCLUSION: Canning. Never. Works. Can every Big Good and Big Bad who uses it in LoZ please stop? It's getting beyond a joke just how incompetant you are.

Rant end.

These kinds of glaringly obvious plotholes always annoyed me so much a while ago, and I still laugh at how ridiculous some of it is.
But really it's just a case of dealing with it and enjoying the game anyway, I mean the only reason they really do this "canning" thing is so they can use the characters again in later games or just... I dunno.
The amount of games with plotholes in now is just silly but if they're enjoyable I don't mind.. Final Fantasy however I'm just plain getting sick of. But that's a whole other rant which I'm not in the mood to put into words right now c:

Hiiiii Cat! I'm doing alright, gone back to playing Fire Emblem at the moment... I WAS re-playing Skyrim as a thief kind of character but my computer has broken completely, waiting on an ordered part to arrive..

FFuu, what a pain. Hope it gets there soon.

What is Fire Emblem, anyway? I keep getting a mental image that's opposite of what it actually is when consulting google.

It's basically a turn based strategy, fantasy based with sword people, magicians, etc...
The story tends to be blue haired royal main guy is against evil cultist who either is, or is summoning, a dragon of some kind.

More to it than that lol but yeeaaah. The main thing I like on this one is it harks back to FE4 on the SNES in that you have the first generation of characters, and they get support conversations that can eventually lead to marriage, then some time later you get their child unit so it's fun trying different combos and MEDDLING WITH PEOPLES LIVES!

It can do sometimes if you're fussy like me, if you just plow through the storyline it's not as long though, if you don't count bonus maps / dlc

It's just the kind of game I love really lol, strategy games <3
