I'm not much for needlepoint I have sewed some small things like curtains, table runners and pillowcases when I 'd like to do more sometime. I've got quite a lot of random half-started craft and art projects laying about; I need to work on finishing some of them up. Duh Of course, I also need the room to do so....

Although I did recently finish making some galaxy/universe printed shirts and pants for myself...does this count as crafty? xD;

That sounds really neat! You said you made them, right? How'd you do that? I'd love to see them!

My first definitive craft was in elementary school making a really awkward pillow shaped like a phone. My dad is very protective of it now and always keeps it no matter how many times we've moved. I feel like it sucks, but he adores it. Then again, he's my dad. And biased. xD

@Juneberry: You'v got a nice goal and I hope you eventually get to make a sweater. Smile Personally, I've always wanted to make crocheted gloves.

@Sly: Like Juneberry, I'm curious to know how you made your galaxy/universe printed shirts and pants!

Sewing is definitely more up my alley, although I've never tried to make anything like curtains, pillow cases or table runners. I always stuck more to clothing and such.

My friend once started to knit gloves for me actually, before we grew out of touch o.o; But I figure a sweater tends to be more helpful in my house then gloves. Though maybe socks would be even more useful? Hrm~

I actually do want to sew in general though. I have a lot of clothes/cloth that can't be used right now, but I think I could make something neat out of it if I sew it. I once made little ribbons to use as hair ties from shirt sleeves xD

I'm pretty uncoordinated when it comes to knitting, but my friend... let's call her Glinda Happy... works magic with wool. Right now she's knitting me a black jumper with a purple squiddle on it, AND some little gloves with lots of squiddles!! Weeeee

She definitely sounds like she's got some magic. I wonder if she could share with me? xP

Whoa! Super-delayed reaction; sorry guys! Sweat

Anyway, yes I made them. I actually found a tutorial on the internet...somewhere, not sure exactly where now. ^^; But essentially, you make a mixture of 50/50 bleach and water, spray in spots on dark blue or (preferably) black clothes, concentrating heavier where you want your "galaxies" to be. Then you let it sit for a few hours to get the spots good and bleached, rinse out and dry the items and then paint/dye them. You can use either acrylic paints or any kind of fabric dye; I found I really like the effect I can get with Sharpie fabric markers. You start with a dark color on the outside of the bleach ring, then blend in swirls of lighter colors to make it look like galaxies and such. You can splatter white acrylic paint between the spots to make "stars" if you like.

I've done a tube top, some leggings, a pair of yoga pants, and a pair of black jeans (which aren't quite done yet. Sweat ) My aunt also wants me to do a pair of shorts for her, and I'm thinking about doing a scarf. It's really fun, and I think it looks pretty cool. It's sort of time-consuming, but most crafts worth doing are, so it's no big deal. xD; If I ever get the items and a working camera/phone in the same place, I'll post up some pictures for you guys. A-hahaha/~

That sounds really fun! It might be a great way to make use of some old clothes and whatnot. Or to make my old sweaters and vests more interesting xP I'll have to try that one day. And with my plethora of sharpie markers and colors of them, it'll be a hoot!

I woke up today wanting to do a needlepoint of one of my characters, which I thought of then cutting out somehow or using a circular thing to make it on, and making it into a cute accessory. Particularly I'd like to do my mascot character for my comic. Who knows? Maybe I could sell it (yeah not likely). Or just love it to death because I dote on her. xD

I'm quite a knitter but I tend to overestimate my abilities. I embark on large projects and struggle to finish them. I have a box of abandoned knitting. Now that Stazzy's posted excitedly about the jumper and mittens I'm really going to push myself to finish them. Mittens by next term, jumper by Christmas. See how I go.

Wow, you must be pretty fast! I've been working on a sweater for a while now and I think I have about 2 inches. It takes forever! This is one reason why I prefer to crochet, it's so much faster.

Making a jumper or a vest would be sorta fun to me. Though I think pants might be more useful in my case...xD

Though sadly, like always, things like to f-up when I start my projects. o-x. Buuut luckily I did a practice strip so worked out all the kinks on that before I started the real deal. SO DO A PRACTICE SWEEP BEFORE YOU SEW SOMETHING.

Not that this news is new to me, more like, the practice stuff helps me a lot more nowadays then before where I'd just cry cause I can't fix anything and think I shouldn't sew that day. ;n;

Almost done with first project. o3o

Congrats on almost finishing your first project Freshie! I think you have a wise way of working, doing a practice piece first. Practice makes perfect, they say. I always do practice with my art too. But it's also important to remember we all make mistakes. Seriously, you don't want to see how long my grandmother takes when she's painting ceramics. She can spend a month on one little spot trying to make it juuuust right.
