| I read through half of the first book, and honestly couldn't get through any more of it. It was so... well... it was too High School for me.
I mean, she likes him, but he's ignoring her. Another guy likes her, but she's ignoring him... it's just one vicious cycle of teen angst!
Grr... I couldn't push past it to get to what is supposedly the "good part", and the movie made me angry, mostly because there's a group of wonderful human friends that most likely won't get you in trouble (aside from normal teenage trouble, that is) and you IGNORE all of them to go after Mr. Angsty Vampire man!
And don't get me started on the New Moon movie... just go to Spoony's forty-five minute rant, and he explains it perfectly.

So I feel like I'm the only one missing out on reading that book. And now that a movie is coming out, everyone is going Twilight crazy.

The only thing that I can say is don't pay attention to anyone who's going Twilight Crazy. Basically, what that means is that it's attained fangirls that obsess over it in a very similar way that anime fangirls obsess over their characters. (L, Light Yagami, Lelouch, Ed Elrich, Roy Mustang, Inu-Yasha, Sesshoumaru, etc)
Wanting to see the movies or read the books is your choice, but for the love of all that is good and sane please don't become Twilight Crazy

| I read one book of the Twilight franchise and I watched half of the movie. I hated, HATED it. (Somehow my boyfriend defends it saying something...oh I forget!)
I simply cannot fathom how Bella is so, so pathetic a creature and how can this 'Vampire' Edward have any feelings for this pathetic creature. BESIDES Edward is completely emotionless except in a few instances of "Aww". I firmly believe that Edward and Jacob are both way to good for Bella. As an entirety I give the entire series a 1 out of 5. It had some originality but that was about it as far as that goes.

| there is no true defence for this atrocity in my eyes. it is marketed towards children/young teenage girls and idolises a dull empty shell of a 'woman' and a manipulative, obsessive 'man'... or 'vampire'.... it actually makes me sick.
porn for 13 year olds and older women with less sense than the young readers.

| I'm not going to rave about it, cause I really didn't think it was much to rave about. (Didn't like it...any of it....I hated it really...still do)
I have to say that I'm totally opposed to the "Twilight" fever that's sweeping the nation...for a couple of reasons....I don't like what she's done with vampires, and when you grew up on Ann Rice books, hers leave a lot to be desired....Either way no point in getting your panties tied in knots if you haven't looked at the books. If you're looking for something to read and you can manage to get past the shiny vamps and what not then you may enjoy the piddly love story there...if you could call it that...I say that because I felt like the characters had too many personal issues to be concerned with being in love. I felt like they needed to grow up...>.>
But honestly I know you could find way better to read....like loads better.
Love it or hate it....I feel like its going to be around for a while...which makes me question if the rest of the general public is going to think that these day walking shine vampires are what the original ones were like....

| I thought the books were great, when I was in highschool. Mind you I also read the first book before the second came out. This was at least a year before the rest of the country (and probably the world) went nuts over it. I was done by the time the 3rd came around. I was kinda hardcore though back when they first came out, but after a few years and reading the rest of the books you kinda realize that there are books of higher quality to read out there.
Though I must say that Twilight indirectly inspired me to do NaNoWriMo.

| I read the first two books (Twilight and... the one with the werewolf guy) and I really didn't enjoy them. I didn't find them to be quality literature. Honestly the Twilight series is pretty much the definition of 'Teen Romance Novel'. Now there's nothing wrong with that, it's just when EVERYONE becomes OBSESSED with a mediocre book series that I have to wonder if anyone still reads the classics. Without being forced to by their high schools.
