Unlikely Allies (Ren+Amber)

[Ren Negade]

In the land of Dai-Gada a legend is told about an unlikely duo that in the beginning were on a journey to find someone important to both of them but in the end were able to save the land from a horrible disaster. This is their story.

The desert city of Esta-Rosa exists as oasis for those who venture through the Estamarda desert. For years there had been rumours of a ancient ruins deep within the desert that the people of Esta-Rosa have told tales about for generations. Many of adventures would make the journey through the harsh desert in hopes of a chance of finding the ancient ruins. Two heroes are about to make the same journey.

"Damn this freaking desert, I'm sick and tired of getting sand in my boots with each and every step I make." Complained a young muscular man wearing a cloak that was made to protect its wearer from heat and the harsh sandy wins.

The young man was about six feet tall and looked to be about a little over two-hundred pounds. He wore a red breast-plate over a black short sleeved shirt, a pair of black pants that were being held up with a thick red metallic belt, a pair of red leather boots, gauntlets and thick headband. His skin was slightly tanned and his eyes were a dark shade of green that complimented his dark red spiky hair. On the back of his belt were a pair of revolvers and across his chest was a belt that held his sheathed great sword.Finally around his neck was a locket with dragon engraving on it.

"Let's just hope this place has a pretty damsel in distress for me to rescue." He Sighed.

[Amber]

She sighed as she stood a few feet in front of him, looking over the sand dunes. She had no idea whether or not the reason they were there, was actually valid or not, didn't know if they would find what it was that she was looking for. Specifically, her brother.

"Astral. Shut up, I don't want to listen to you complaining anymore." She said with a sigh as she brushed a lock of her navy blue hair out of her face as her seemingly glowing, and rather eerie, ice blue eyes scanned the sandy dunes.

"I'm not seeing anything around here that could be him... but.. I have no idea." She said with another sigh before looking towards her companion.

"So tell me, why did you follow me anyway? You haven't answered me outright, yet." She added.

"And as you're answering, walk. We're going to check these ruins more in depth. I'm curious as to whether or not there is anything here that could possibly have belonged to my brother."

[Ren Negade]

"Hey, I think I have every right to complain since I'm the one who has been protecting your fine ass this whole time."Replied Astral as he begun to follow his companion.

"And to answer your question as to why I'm following you around I've already told you, I'm also looking for your idiot of a brother so that I can kick his ass...besides, you're the one who came asking for my help in the first place."

Astral then used his hand to visor his sight as he looked off in the distance and saw something that looked like some sort of group of pillars jetting outwards out of the sand. A grin grew upon his face as he the thought of being the one who discovered their mark mad him overly happy.

"Hey Aevin, I think found something." Announced Astral as he then pointed towards his discovery.

[Amber]

Aevin sighed, brushing her hair out of her face again.

"You... need to shut up." She hissed as she looked over to him, her eyes seeming to take a hint of red, making them look more purple than blue.

"Just because I asked you to follow, doesn't mean I asked to listen to you constantly complaining. If you have such a problem with being here, why don't you just head home then?" She asked, her impatience more than a little apparent.

"And let's go, then." She added before heading off towards where Astral had said that he had seen something in the distance. Upon looking herself, she had seen what he had, and was already heading over there, figuring that he would most likely follow. Or rather, knowing that he knew that he better follow her.

[Ren Negade]

"Screw that, I already told you that I'm not heading home until I complete my business that have with your brother."Replied Astral as he begun to follow Aevin, his eyes fixated on her ass.

The way to the pillars started with steep down hill dune. As they walked to their destination the heat from the sun begun to increase slowly but noticeably. Astral's vision was starting to weaken as the heat was getting to him and as such he thought he saw the sand shift beneath them and was moving towards. It wasn't until Astral heard a growling sound coming from underground and rising to the surface that he got on his guard. Astral the saw how the land was making a bee line for Aevin and dove towards her and swooped her up and got her out of the way before a large sand worm came out of the ground and attacked.

"Damn it all, if the heat and a nagging companion weren't enough now I have to deal with this oversized night crawler."Groaned Astral as he reached for his blade.

"Hey Aevin do one of two things, run for shelter or help me from a distance, make your decision." Ordered Astral as he quickly counter he worm's lunge towards them and swatted it away with his sword.

[Amber]

Aevin was caught off guard when Astral scooped her up. She wasn't truly worried though, since she knew that he would do what was needed to keep both her and him safe.

As Astral made his way back over to fight the worm, Aevin was mostly silent before grabbing her pendant. As her hand closed around it, her eye colours changed, and rather drastically aswell, to a vibrant red. Her left eye reverted back to the ice colour that they naturally were.

She said something, although it came out as quite a hiss, and almost ethereal. She reached her hands out towards the worm, and shot two spells, one fire and one ice towards it.

[Ren Negade]

As Astral fought the sand worm he caught a fireball flying towards him and swiftly dodged out of the way and raised an eyebrow as the fireball hit the worm. At first Astral couldn't help but think that Aevin made a stupid novice move since a fire based spell would have much effect against a sand worm, if anything it would just heat up it's body intensely, but after seeing the worm being encased in ice Astral saw the madness in Aevin's attack. the combination of spells caused a flash freeze and as result shattered the worm in to small pieces.

"That was a close one there Aevin, at first I thought you totally downgraded to nothing more than a novice."Commented Astral.

[Amber]

Aevin glared at Astral as he said that.

"Fucker, give me more credit than that." She hissed before making her way over to him.

"Come on, let's get out of here." She said with a sigh. "We need to see if my brother was here or not, and honestly, I'm not interested in waiting around for you." She snarled before heading off towards their previous destination, not saying anything more or waiting for him.

[Ren Negade]

"Tsch, fine but we'd better fine something we can bring back and cash in since we're not taking the time skin the scales off this sand worm, damn things sell for a decent amount of gold."Replied Astral before following Aevin.

As they made their way to the pillars the ruins came in to full view. The ruins seemed to be made of sandstone and had rune like engravings all over it. The inside of the ruins seemed to be for the better. The insides of the ruins were surprisingly well maintained and in terms of damage all that was notable was the vast amounts of sand.

"This place is so....not what I was expecting."Commented Astral as he took a look around and examined the ruins.

"Man this place is so dull and old looking, this is so boring."

[Amber]

Aevin sighed as Astral made his comment. She didn't say anything though, since she didn't really care about money. She'd stashed away more than enough to fund them doing this for awhile, so really, it made no difference to her. She knew he would just spend it frivolously, and not on anything that they could both actually benefit from.

As they entered the ruins, Aevin just looked around, not worrying about how 'boring' it was, in his words. She thought it was rather gorgeous, the sole fact that it had been preserved as it had been, spoke volumes about the atmosphere in the area.

"Heh, I will admit, I am surprised." She said as she looked around, hoping to find something from her brother.

[Ren Negade]

Astral then approached what appeared to be large door that would have worked as entrance way. He sighed once again before turning around and seeing something to him that was worth while, and no it wasn't clear view of Aevin's ass as she bent over to examine the floor.

Above the doorway was a large glowing red gem being held by a statue. With greedy look in his eyes Astral quickly ran up a wall and when he reached the gem he pried it out of statues grasp. The gem was large enough that Astral would need to carry it in two arms.

"Hey Aevin look at this!"Exclaimed Astral happily.

"With this we'll be set for quite some time."

[Amber]

Aevin straightened up and looked at him. Once she saw what he had, even her own expression changed a bit for a moment.

"As wonderous as that is... Astral, we can't take that. These are sacred grounds." She told him simply.

"Plus, the nearest town knows of these ruins, and may have our heads if we were to try and cash in on something from here."

[Ren Negade]

"Tsch, fine."Replied Astral before he took out a pocket knife chipped a few pieces out of the gem and pocketed them before leaping down.

"Can we get out of here now, I really could use a drink at the bar in Esta-Rosa."

[Amber]

Aevin just sighed and shook her head.

"... How quickly do you think you'll burn through that money?" She asked, honestly curious. He rarely made it last as he intended, but she asked. Every time, she asked

"whatever. I'm not finding anything of interest. Other than the fact that it seems like we can't get deeper." She said with a small sigh.

"Come on, let's head back. I could use a break from this sun." She added before heading off.

[Ren Negade]

"All depends on if I find a cute girl who''l keep me company or not."Chuckled Astral before he started thinking once again.

"Or you could always take up that roll."
