How do you come up with your names?

I got my name from Pirates of the Caribbean. XD

I wanted something different from all the other names I've picked, and since I'm majoring in Anthropology, I thought it would be cool to have that name :3

Hart is the beginning (and my favorite part) of my last name. That's about all there is to it, but I really like it

I made up two characters for a story named Mal and Ven, so I sorta stuck them together, and added an 'r' to make it sound cooler, and added an 'e' to make it look cooler.

I came up with mine from an old dream I had ages ago. I've been using the name Mysty or Mystycia for a few years now just cause it's so pretty

I got mine from a few years ago, when the eight year old myself and my eleven year old best friend were playing a game where we pretended to be dragons. My name was Icewing, and I just use that because it reminds me that my friend always called himself 'Nutcase' XD

Other than Icewing, I will also use the name 'Aoi' online. Aoi is one of my favourite names, because, apart from the fact that it is my favourite colour in Japanese, it is also the name of the guitarist in one of my favourite bands.

I will also use the name 'Reiki' online. I found Reiki when I was searching for names that meant 'Spirit', and one of my favourite names, Mana, which also happens to be the name of the awesomest person on earth(In my opinion, that is), showed up right above 'Reiki' on the list of names. I was looking for a name for a roleplaying character at that time, and I didn't want to use Mana, so I chose Reiki instead because it sounded nice. And because it sounded similar to 'Reita', which is the name of my favourite bass guitarist XD

I don't really remember how it was that I got my name. I have been using it for most of my sites. (except for deviantart because someone had already taken it first! gr! ) I came up with it too long ago for me to recall...

I came up with my username when I was being silly and random which is most of the time really rofl howeve I just reckong I like to Whinge about things and then sometimes I disapear like a ninja so put the two togeher and I am the WhingingNinja lol my other username is woopdidoodoo I heard on the Simpsons once woopdidoo so just added the extra doo lol

n is from Skyrim, usually i use names i find online, like from other languages or from fantasy races, but I liked this one a lot. (though it does fit the fantasy race category, it's the name of a Dragon...in the dragon tongue.)

I got mine from a random word generator xD I like to generate random words and learn its definition to expand my vocabulary~ One day I found out about the word Avionics which refers to the electronic system used in air crafts and for some reason it sounds like a name to me :') so I used it here..and all the other online avatar communities I join xD

Heya. Didn't see this thread before. [then again, I don't see anything since I'm not on. I just kicked myself, but you can't see that :P]

It's hard delving back into my history, can't remember things straight. But here's what I'm pretty sure happened.

I had consulted my mother on my chinese name. It was alright, but it didn't seem like a great name to use online :/ So I switched over to another language. What can I say, Japanese names were really popular !

So I found a japanese name somewhat close to my chinese name, and pretty common in Japan. I didn't want to act too special or whatever.
I found Reika 玲花, which usually means 'fresh flower' or something like that. But if I don't like my chinese name meaning, why would I like that ?
I switched around the kanji and made it 黎日, which is more like black/dark/many sun. I liked how it gave off a more confident, cool feeling. A fierce sun can wilt any flower. And that's what I went with
Tho of course it's easier to just use hiragana れいか.

But now, I usually use the QuietPyre as a username, especially on larger sites. It's not been used anywhere I've seen. Probably because it's so weird to say, but I find that fun. I like fire, so I used Pyre for burning witches, and made it Quiet because it would feel so weird [uncomfortable ? uneasy ?] to watch such a sight.
And then for my online name, instead of Reika I now usually use Vinn [a derivative of my rl name. Mostly people add a -y at the end to make it Vinny, even though I'm not a tough guy xD]
