Wannabe... Gamers?

I guess I'm a gamer... but only during the holidays because I don't own an XBox of my own. xD I'm pretty selective of the games I play though. I'm not good at scary games or FPS games either. >.> I'm an rpg gal. :B

I never quite noticed a "fad", gamer only means "someone who games/plays games" to me, and videogames have been getting increasingly popular. But I wanted to point out that it has to do with the game industry these days. It's become bigger than cinema. An absurd amount of money goes in (and out of) it now, so obviously things are different, marketing is different, games are aimed at a difference audience, etc.

Erm, I am guilty of liking sexy characters though. I do like looking at Lara Croft (ohh Angelina <3 ), being a girl myself XD

On the past couple of days someone commented I couldn't be a hardcore gamer because I only had around 2,000 points in my gamerscore on Xbox Live. Then I proceeded to show him how ridiculous it was to determine if someone was a hardcore gamer solely by points on a console (which leaves out pc gaming altogether) awarded for jumping 50 times or something dumb like that.
Seriously, if you see achievements as just another way to have fun, great, but saying it determines some level of hardcore or using it to measure how good you are at games... That's sad. The guy then erased the whole conversation and attacked me.

To me hardcore gamer is the opposite of casual. Someone who plays for hours, focuses on games that are deep and require planning, like rpgs and strategy.

I do miss the days before achievements *sigh*.

I don't care about fads either, but I do love video games. =D I don't care if people call me a gamer. They can if they want, but I just... Don't care. >.>; I try to get on my xBox every day and play some Halo, but sometimes it doesn't happen. .__.
I'm not necessarily good at any games either. In fact, scratch that... I suck... At all games. D: I play them for my own leisure, god knows I could care about anybody else. So I suppose I'm a gamer? In some way? You know what REALLYYYY bothers me though... When I'm trying to have fun playing a game, and some idiot online starts being cocky and acting like the balance of the Earth is in danger because... He died. Y'know? ~_~

Those girls annoy me as well, but I've learned to ignore them. However, there are the egotistical girl gamer types out there, now these girls are unbearable.

It is wonderful that there are girl gamers out there, but there really is no need to announce to the whole world that you're a GIRL GAMER, and act totally arrogant and ignorant just because of your gender on the damn chatbox/mic... <-- Those girl gamers give girl gamers a bad name.
