I can read my Lord of the Rings books over and Over again and again.
J R R Tolkiens writing style is so briliant! I love them so much XD

I also have a lot of other Books from Tolkien. He is my all time fave =^^=
No one can thouch his skill XD
even if there were a few gaps, like the cousil of the 5 wizards,
there was Saruman the white
Gandalf the grey
and Radagast the brown

where are the other two you might wonder? But still, the story combines friendship with history with love with action and its great =^^=

Peter Jakson's films only show a glimpse of the imagination which that man had, Peter did a good job I'd say. Even if there were a few points missing here, and there. and something had to be cut out... The movies are great to!

The music from the lord of the rings is also stunning O.O The translation of the elfish and dwarfish are so butifully done =^^=

I also had the luck to get to londen with school, right in the last week of the musical. And yes I did see the musical in londen =^^= I loved it! the preformances were great! the had chosen to take the books, and base the whole musical on the books, in stead of the films. I loved the fact that they choose to do that. I also talked with some of the actors later one, t was so cool XD

And if you havnt noticed yet, yes... I am a lord of the rings fan, nerd, freak, lover... thingy... Jab but you can't stop me XD

Now I'm curious if there are people out there who love Tolkien aswell O.o
feel free to discuss here =^^=

Indeed, Lord of the Rings is very good, if a bit complicated. I really liked the descriptions and generally enjoyed the series. However, Silmarillion nearly killed me. Middle Earth's mythology and history is really complex and confusing.

I like it! (now, I have to admit that I like a LOT of things, so this probably isn't too surprizing! XD) I've watched all the movies and I'm starting the hobbit book-wise ^^' not too far but I'm reading a ton right now, so I'm doing my best. It's really cool! O.O They left a TON out in the hobbit!

I agree, its a great series even if it can be a little long winded in the descriptons but I think that just adds to trying to imagine just what everything looks like.

I try to re read them every so often when I really have the time to invest myself in a serious bout of reading.

I totally agree with you, John Ronald Ruel Tolkien is a fantastic writer, one of my favourite ones. First I read the Lord of the Rings all the parts. I remember how I tried to find a place to read at night because I couldn't stop, and then I closed the door to the bathroom and read all night long sitting on the floor. I have always liked fantasy and especially elves, but after reading the Lord of the Rings they have become my favourite creatures. The books are really well-written, and Tolkien has great imagination without doubt. He is a genius I think. When I first knew he was the creator of the elven language, I didn't even believe. Then I decided to learn the basics of it, and it turned out to be a real language with rules and everything. Unfortunately, I haven't learnt it to be able to speak but I should say it's really amazing. I also read Hobbit and then Silmarillion. Silmarillion is a treasure of literature I think. I love it so much, it's fantastic. The whole story of creation of the fantasy world, so beautiful, mysterious and fascinating. Well...I can talk about this writer forever but I'll stop now. Sorry for my English. Embarrassed

P.S. I tried to watch the film after reading the Lord of the Rings but after an hour or so I switched the TV off. No, the movies are ok, special effects and so on. But I really like the books much more.

I admit it. I'm a huge fan of the LOTR movies. I've even read some of Tolkiens novels but I'm a long ways from having read them all. I can only imagine what kind of an imagination it would take to come up with all of those well written novels, and all of the the languages. It seems though that Tolkeins work was actually mostly focused on the languages and that the stories were just built as a place to showcase what Tolkein considered his real work to be. In the end though it seems like his stories took on a life of their own.
I'm sure glad that he did take all of those years to write them. I don't think there's hardly been any fantasy works since that have had such intense work put into them since by a single person.

I first read Lord of the Rings when I was 11 and on a camping trip with my parents. We were on Fraser Island (Queensland Australia), and being in such a beautiful place made it even more poignant. I still think the barrows were the most terrifying place, with all the dead souls, and being in the wind made it more real for me. Tom Bombadil was my favourite character. When Tolkien wrote the books, he created a whole new world. He wrote entire theology for all the beings, he literally created every little detail. It was real for him, not just a book.

He was the father of the genre fantasy, all subsequent fantasy writings stem from his books. A true master. I still like to reread them every now and then.

I don't have the attention span to sit down and read a long book like Lord of the Rings, or any book actually.
I do, however, LOVE Lord of the Rings.
definately my favorite three movies. (:

I only saw the first movie because my late father took an interest and I am sorry but we were both disappointed. It was boring and way too long. I got uncomfortable in the theater and was anxious for the ending.

Not my cup of tea.
