The Age of Rain

Dania shrugged. 'You're here.'

"I wish we could be more thorough but we don't really know ourselves," Lanyia replied. "All we know is that we're standing in a forrest clearing and the world will never be normal again."

Element raised his eyebrows at her comment. "This is the new normal, as soon as you realise I'm sure the world will appear a little less scary and unknown."

Dania sighed. 'And any idea how we're gonna get out of this mess? We've got an army or something searching for us.'

[LadyHarpy]

"Well, first things first, let's get the army off our tail and find new shelter. Then let's get something to eat because I am hungry." Eris said.

Lanyia nodded as her stomach grumbled loudly. "Yes, you're right. I'm hungry too. I wonder how we can get them off our tracks..."

Element began to grin widely. "I could be of some assistance."

Lanyia and the others all smiled too.

"Thank you Element," Lanyia announced. "That's very kind."

Element marched off out of the clearing in the direction towards where the three girls had run from. In a few moments he was out of sight and a few moments after that a few distant screams reached the small groups ears. They all looked at each other suddenly worried. A gasp emerged from Lanyia as Element returned not covered in fresh blood as her mind's eye had assumed but exactly as he had been.

"You- you didn't kill-" she began.

"No-no," Element waved his hand in the air absently. "But, it will be awhile till they regain consciousness and even then, they'll have to rid themselves of the roots wrapped around them. Let's get going shall we???"

The group all nodded and started on their way in the other direction.

Moments later in the clearing below the extravagant tree house the evil Eclectica and her small army of followers were regaining consciousness.

"I feel as if my mind was deprived of oxygen," Shainae complained. "I-oh, we're all tied up."

Eclectica groaned angrilly as she struggled hopelessly against the tangle of thick tree roots and vines.

"Bah- this is hopeless," Eclectica moaned. "By the time we are free they will be long gone. Let us first focus our attention on freedom, then we shall find their scent again."

Shainae went to pipe up but thought better of it, but it was too late.

"What??? What is it???" Eclectica roared.

"I-I don't know if the scent will remain as long as it will inevitably take to become free," Shainae sighed. "But we can still try to find their scent. I just can't promise that we will."

"Oh, we will," Eclectica announced. "I guarantee. Maybe not today, nor tomorrow but in the future of this the new world if there is but one thing that we can be certain of, it is the fact that diminishing supplies and lack of good shelter will encourage many to take refuge in numbers where good shelter can be found and try to survive together... which means that we will all run into each other eventually."

Hours later the small group finally allowed themselves a rest in yet another clearing. This one was littered with dried leaves and what appeared to be chopped and ripped up roots.

"This forrest must be huge," Lanyia sighed with exhaustion. "We've been walking for hours and we haven't even seen rain, so the canopy must still be full above us. Even when we do find the end of the forrest, I don't know what will happen to me... I-I'm the only one here who hasn't been affected by the rain yet and I've only managed on pure luck so far. Judging by our unwanted stalkers I'd guess my luck might have run out or is about to."

Element placed his arm gently around Lanyia's shoulder.

"It isn't too bad, after the first night," Element reassured her. "And, you'll have all of us to keep you company, just promise you won't bite our head off and we'll all be fine."

Lanyia and the others laughed a little.

"Oh, I'll do my best I promise," Lanyia announced. "Do you think we're far enough away to sleep here tonight...???"

Element nodded. "I'll keep watch first if you all like."

The girls quickly let their heavy eyes droop and all drifted off to sleep. Element sat alert and on watch.

Eris didn't sleep for long as her super hearing picked up everything within its range. She sat up and sighed tiredly before rubbing her eyes and looking around at the others lucky enough to sleep.

Element snorted himself awake from resting his eyes and stared curiously at Eris.

"I bet you haven't slept properly since you changed," he sighed. "I'd like to say I have..."

The others stirred slightly but didn't wake.

"No, I'm too full of adrenalin to sleep these days." Eris said as she looked to him "And being able to here every single twig snap and bird chirp within a pretty large distance dosen't help either."

Eris turned to Element and stared at him uncertainly. She was never one to be good with the opposite sex so the whole fact that he was even talking to her was weird to her.

"So, do you have any plans for the future? Other than surviving this."

Kraven leaned back and listened, not knowing really what was happening around her.

"I must admit having a future does sound appealling," Element agreed. "At least you can only hear the twigs snap, I can feel it..."

He sighed a low long deep breath and wiped a hand through his slightly mattered hair. "I guess, we'll all get used to it but, I can't help but worry about everyone's future."

Lanyia bolted upright suddenly and opened her eyes.

"Wha-Where am I???" she stammered half asleep. "Oh, sorry."

Embarrassed she slowly laid back down and drifted back off to sleep. Element stifled a laugh.

Eris smile a tiny bit, her pointed teeth gleaming in the darkness.

"Anyway, we're going to need to find shelter if possible. Even with the cannopy covering us the forest can't be all that safe."

Element nodded in agreement. "I wonder how much longer this forrest can stretch out for...??? I feel like I've been walking around it for months, almost like it keeps growing around me..."

He shivered at the thought. "I wonder if scientist of the old world ever did any research into what would happen if plants were placed in close proximity to direct non stop pollution ...??? Here we are in a world that could change again and again in the blink of an eye, and has on many occasions."

"Do you think anyone would have been in this situation if they had? They were to busy making our ipods smaller." Eris said coldly.
