Hello! The only true avatar site i really spent a lot of time on was Menewsha. I had joined Gaia ages ago (2003 or 2004) but got spammed and a lot of cold shoulders so i decided it wasn't for me.

Then i found Menewsha (I'm paprika there) and later on Subeta (which i am currently most active on, name is Megabucks there) and now i found this place via Valenth. XD

That's the problem of having a small community: it's friendly and welcoming, but it gets slow quickly if some people are not around. Though, it gives you a chance to have a life outside Midorea and you're not lost when you come back.

Though, with the new ads, we are getting much more newbies, so it should be more active soon...

I'm not on any besides Midorea (Yup, not even Gaia ) So usually I stay on the site for a long time But I guess that's just what I do. Maybe I'll try out some sites some day

EDIT: lol see how long this is? If I hadn't put it in list form it would've been longer. I got opinions on avi sites and when I state them I'll rant, ramble and go on forever.

What no bashing? No wonder this is only 10 pages long! *shot*

Okays so I'll just list the sites to avoid a full page rant...and dang I have like 5 gnats in my room. What died in here and brought them in?!

Gaia: Everyone knows this site! I joined back in fall of 06 I believe. A few months before they remodeled the pages into what they look like today. I was just a newbie to the whole internet world back then. *sigh* But Gaia has gotten so commercial it sickens me. They even advertise tampons on there. I left the place over a year ago though I do return for halloween event. xD What sucks though is that I basically abandoned my friend there without telling where I left to. *horrible person like that*

Roliana: Found an ad on tektek and went there. Moves really fast, avatars aren't too shabby. But I found it annoying to not tell when people were online amoung other things. I glad I checked in for the halloween even cause they had lycan bases! =D I totally saved them to my computer just in case. xD;; What ticks me off about this place is that I often don't get seen and I'm ignored. I'm sure people don't mean to but it happens often enough for me to actually get ticked off.

Kinsaki: THIS IS MY HOME! I've been here a whole year and I love it there. Good avatar bases, and very friendly community. It's rather tight-knit so I worry that new users feel left out though. =( I go by Jurinjo there as well and my goal is to collect all MIs. Which is a lot. And what's sad is I was around when most of them came out so why do I have so few in my inventory? >___<

Solia: Phenomenal avatar base. There are some good users though last I was there a lot of em are from Gaia so I am a bit weary. My favorite thing to do while I was there was to say hi to new users, help them through and check in later. ^_^ I'm known by Doulos, but with fancy symbols around it.

Menewsha: The creator of Kinsaki made Mene before it. I'm not much impressed with the base. And the hair/eyes combination made me look wicked mean. Which is awesome, but there were no pants that fit right for it! And glaring at users while in my underwear is NOT intimidating. xD I never liked the site much though. A few confusing rules and a few days of struggling to enter an actual conversation lead me to just kill the group rp I had going and leave.

Midorea: This place! I would like a better battle system to be honest but that's the thing that drew me in so of course I want it better. Also having items in shops to match classes in Battle System would rock. I want to draw a pic of me as a monk. ;p I'm not at all bothered by much other than the fact I can't see when people are online unless I got to the main forum page. Which I usually forget to do. Such a hassle! There's nothing keeping me here though so I might end up leaving this place behind. Sorry guys! I loved the halloween items. PURPLE! Screwd up I couldn't actually get any of them really.

Well Gaia brought quite the shitstorm upon themselves with that tobacco ban thing. o-0

Seriously, that had to be one of the dumbest moves they've ever made. I don't smoke and never intend to, I've never had a cig or any such item on my avatar and never intended to, and I'm still pretty pissed at that. And I don't even get on Gaia anymore other than to lurk the SF when they screw up. XD

I guess it's just the way they did it. Without any forewarning, they delete 3 smoke-related items from the shops and soul-bind them. They never tell the users anything, sugar-coating things and treating them like children. I hate it when websites keep their members in the dark about things, especially when it's just to cover their own rears. That and the sheer lack of responsibility on Gaia's part - despite the fact that they claim to be "professional" - really draws me away from it. It's like they expect the respect that a company would get, but the lenience that a small website would get. It's selfish and unrealistic.

Some people are thinking that they got sued because of the abruptness, and the fact that the cig item mentions that they make you look sexy as hell, and the announcement proclaiming the ban randomly mentions that they don't think they make your avatar look sexy. But really? I can blow the head off of my avatar, carry weapons, equip Satanic items, have bondage slaves, and be a bondage slave myself, but I can't smoke. o.0 All virtually, of course. On a 120x150 pixel no less.

Rant over. xP What does anyone else think of the whole ordeal?

I can't believe how that seriously happened. xD And you are quite right with your points. It's quite silly, but actually very fun to read. Xp I wonder what other things Gaia is up to.

Midorea: I also just want to say that I love the avatar you guys are currently using on the footer of the page! <3 When I saw it my first thought was "Hey is that me?" xD Darker skin tone that I usually use but everything else seems just like the kind of art I'd request. :3

Really though, a lot of their members seem to think Gaia is improving with their communication, which may keep them afloat a bit longer. I'm kind of hoping it lasts for a while simply because of zOMG. Raz and I play together and it's quite fun.

That makes no sense.
Since I'm sure theres 18 and older people there that do smoke. And if the stupid pre-teens would actually like to believe that Gaia said smoking was sexy just cause of its description of the item (I remember it when I was on Gaia long ago), then any other source telling them otherwise, then I have no hope for that generation. :/

Also I dont smoke, never will. But at times I've though of buying like the cig on Roliana, cause sometimes it like look good with avatar art...but thats kinda saying "Having a cig on your avatar means if you get avatar art of it, it'd be sexier.."
