Alright. First and foremost... A combination of real life and my own inability to stay focused on a singular thing has kept me off of Midorea, but I was reminded of this place when I finally rifled through my firefox bookmarks. And now I'm here.

So I was thinking... What better way to pop back in than to make a spiffy thread? Mind you, I was, and still am, in need of sleep, so there could likely have been a thousand more ways for me go about this. But I chose this. So there. =P

On to business.

I know this was probably answered in the site's introduction, but I evidently missed it. x.X
So I ask this of everyone: What is Midorea?

I'm not talking about the site itself; rather, I'm talking about the fictional world that the site tries to paint. The place where the random monsters we butcher reside, the place where we hold these spiffy festivals.

Is it an entire world, filled with its own stories, people, and lives? Besides the odd event, the forums don't seem to touch too much on the actual place. The battle system brings us straight to the battles, with no regard to the rest of the world, and the shop system does the same with the shops. The actual setting where everything is supposed to be isn't touched upon too much.

Is it just an avatar site with a fantasy pretense? Honestly, this is the first avatar site I've been to, so I have absolutely nothing to draw on. What exactly defines an avatar site? Just a bunch of forums with a shop system that awards individuals based on text? If that's all, then I can't help but feel that Midorea is more than that.

Does it have a story? Or is it merely just there? I understand that stories may not fit in with an online community, since such things may end up alienating newcomers. Still, is there more to Midorea's setting than just an ever-present forum community? ... Or something. Man, this sounded a lot better in my head.

At any rate... Please be aware that I am not trying to criticize, downplay, or antagonize this site in any sense of those words. I'm just randomly thinking whilst in a sleep-deprived state. I mean no offense to offended parties, and if such fictional parties find it offensive that the above content could be considered offensive, then I apologize for being sleep-deprived.

... Or something.
<.< This really did sound better in my head. Let me see if I can't sum it up.

The description for this category of the forum, the town square, states the following:
Quote:
For discussions about the world of Midorea and everything in it.

What I wish to ask is... What exactly is the world of Midorea and everything in it? All I can really see in here are posts about the Midorea forums, rather than the world itself.

So I ask you: What is Midorea?

... Right. >.> I'm going to go get some sleep now.

I am not really sure what it is myself. But personally I picture it as a world sort of stuck in time. Its a sort of cross roads of sorts where every one dresses in all sorts of different types of clothes. They all are of different ethnic backgrounds and they are all different types of creatures.

Of course there are the same problems as real life as well as a few beasts to fight in order to better ones self.

I think there are different factions. You know the magicans, the bards.

Then the people are divided even farther...

There are the people that are holy and those that are evil and those that just dont know what they are. aka neutral.

Over all I am sure that my description of what I think midorea is probably didnt help you anymore than I just confused myself more.

You can get some of the history of Midorea by clicking the story tab at the top of the page.

Keep in mind though that the storyline is undergoing a revamp by Chu so much more will be added to it soon. The basic idea won't be changed much, so it's still a good place to get your information. ^_^

Hah Mav I think you need more sleep then I do XP any way.

What is Midorea? well it is what we make of it. It has a story a plot line and events but in the end it is the people. That is what makes this place what it is, I honestly feel that the small community paired with an amazing staff who keeps it together makes this place work just so darn well. I think that it is the commitment to that vision that makes it work.

Say like a good play, you know it is all just made up but yet you can't help buying in to it. Wanting that next bit.

I am not sure if that helps any but Midorea is as it is a place that draws people an in turn Midorea is its people more or less.....

Actually with some upcoming battle/forum integration and an update in the storyline, Midorea should be a lot more seamless as a whole. ^^ I am working on the storyline, and have plans to make it a lot more interesting and interactive in the future. Of course I'm consulting Cat every step of the way but hopefully all of us can make Midorea truly unique.

Basically though, Midorea is a fairly simple place for people of all types to hang out and create their virtual self or a fantasy self. The different tribes, alignments, elements, items, etc. all tie in together to make every person unique. It may not seem like it, but users affect the storyline and events quite a bit, which I think is a very good thing about Midorea.

To me, Midorea really strives for being unique and making other people feel that way. :] We don't want to fall into the mold of all other avatar sites and I personally think we're doing quite well.
