"You haven't?" he asked.

"How so?" he asked further.

"If I knew why, or how, I would let you know. But fuck, I have no clue." She told him honestly, with a bit of a growl to her voice.

"I just... I can't sleep lately. I have no idea why. Hell, even heading out for a late night flightm, which used to do wonders for me, isn't doing anything."

He seemed to be thoughtful for a moment.

"Hmmmmmm..." he muttered.

"Well, you could always ask Rene." he said.

"I'm sure he might be able to help you more than I."

"True. TRue." She agreed with a nod.

"Anyway, since we've managed to finish eating while chatting. Go get ready for your appointments, I'll clean up in here. That's something I don't fail with."

He just laughed and stood up.

"Yeah. That's probably a good idea." he said.

"Although, in the future... remember not to use the blender to save time in mixing the batter." he told her.

Ashley had a bit of a sheepish expression as she brought her hand behind her head.

"Eh-heh... logically speaking, it would work. And damn well at that...." she said.

"Logically, yes." he agreed.

"But logic and reality don't always see eye-to-eye, do they?" he then asked with a small chuckle.

"Hey, Lindsay, don't make me remind you of what you've tried in the kitchen." AShley half snapped before pinching the bridge of her nose.

"... Sorry." she said with a sigh.

"There's proof I haven't been sleeping well lately."

He was silent for a moment, before laughing out loud.

"Oh man... that time I tried to make candied bacon." he said.

"Man... Ash still won't let me near the oven unless he's around." he told her.

AShley just snickered. That had been before she showed up, but she'd heard the tales.

"Or when you thought that the toaster was an effective way to make french toast. Your mother jumped down your throat for that one." She said.

"Well... in my defence, back then, I thought it would be a good idea." he said.

"They were both a type of toast, after all..." he added sheepishly.

Ashley just chuckled lightly.

"I know. Now go, you have your appointments to prep for, after all." She said with a small shake of herhead.

"Yeah, yeah." he replied.

"See you later, Ashley." he said to her, before heading to his home office.

Ashley just waved before setting to work cleaning up the dishes that were left.

--

It was a couple of weeks later and Casey was up in her studio, working on a commission. Lindsay had been needed her to shock him awake more often than usual, but he was always all right afterwards, so no one was worrying about it.

She kept thinking about it as she was working on the image beneath her, before sitting back and rubbing her eyes.

"Dammit, I think I need to take a break." She said with a slight growl. She'd been on one hell of a roll, and honestly didn't want to stop, but she seemed to have to. She go up and quickly made sure everything was all right before walking off, intending to head downstairs.

As she made her way down to her loft though, she ended up stepping wrong on the stairs and landed, rather hard, on the floor below.

"OUCH! DAMMIT!" she exclaimed before getting to her feet, carefully. She'd twisted her ankle, and pretty badly too since it was starting to bruise a bit. She was about to continue down to the kitchen before freezing and looking around.

".... what?" She asked, confusion in her voice. She stayed there for only a minute or two before heading off, making her way to Lindsay's home office and knocking on the door.

Lindsay was already on his way to investigate the crash he heard, when he stopped at the door, as it was knocked on.

He opened it, and stepped back some when he saw Casey.

"Casey, what happened out there?" he asked.
