Story

It’s been five centuries since the war between the races ended. Peace has seemingly been gained by all that are left which is not many. Vampire, Human’s Elves and Drow survived the war. Dwarves and halflings did not. Of course there will always be the occasional fight over something petty such as land or supply routes, they do not last for long and haven’t turned into war as of yet.

Of course war seems to be upon the horizon again a new threat to peace has arisen. Demons and those that summon than are on the rise again, what began the war centuries ago seem to be coming back. Though no one is sure who or what has started it at this time. Many blame the tainted those that were almost turned into demon spawn but freed themselves from becoming full bloodthirsty demons themselves.

These tainted or half tainted as they are called are noted by the fact that the irises in have turned red. Some have two red eyes others only one but they are generally scorned by most in society. Due to the blame that has suddenly fallen upon them many have gone into hiding, others have turned to continuing to prove their true worth in society despite their fate.

There are those that say that it is not fully the fault of the tainted at least not all of them. Whispers of a strange group that wants to bring back the demons again and continue the purging of the world till only those that are demon or tainted survive have spread.

No one is sure but there are those that wish to find out and will hire anyone to take the journey into the depths of the under dark to find out the truth of what is going on and why there seem to be demon attacks again.

Quote:
Name: Kiraray or Kira for short
Age: 9 centuries old
Race: Drow
Hair Color and Length: Long almost knee length hair with dark blue dyed ends. Usually kept up in a high ponytail and bangs with purple dye on the ends*
Eye Color: Copper
Clothing: Kira normally wears leather pants and a leather type tank top. *not shiny vinyl leather think dnd type leather* with a trench coat over it.
Weapons: A long staff with a blade on the end that. Two straight swords with lazer enhancements and a croddbow with explodeing bolts.
Personality:Kira has what is know as an explosive personality. Most of the time she is stoic and quite like most Drow other times she can be a bit eccentric and overly loud. She also has an explosive temper. Basically don't get on her bad side.
Job: Mercenary
History: Kira has been around for a long time. Long enough to see the end of the war and the destruction of her family hence the reason she has no surname. In Drow society once your family is dead you are dead aside from your first name unless adopted by another family. She is from one of the last few family's that dyed their hair to symbolize there power and rank in the family most families now wear there hair long and all white with varying styles. She became a mercenary for hire almost as soon as the war was over and she discovered she had no home to go back to. Most of her times is spent in taverns to learn of new jobs or on the job since she is almost always on the move.
Magical abilities: Kira has some minor arcane and elemental ability

Quote:
Name: Vicaun Do'Urden
Age: 76 years
Race: Drow, half-taint
Hair Color and Length: Silvery-gray, in a ponytail/braid that reaches shoulder-blades
Eye Color: Left eye is light gray, almost white, while right is red from the taint.
Clothing: Vicaun generally has a shirt of chainmail underneath dark leather armor. His arms are bare, except for adamantite bracers on his wrists. Vicaun also has a modest amount jewelry for aesthetic appeal: mostly silver earrings, and an armband. He doesn't wear anything red to show his half-taint status, but keeps his red eye uncovered.
Weapons: Vicaun has a pair of lazer-enhanced shortswords, coated in poison.
Personality: Vicaun is a precocious little fellow, with a charisma score through the roof. He's a smooth talker, and can lie easily in six different languages simultaneously. Being just on the edge of adolescence, Vicaun is stubborn when he makes up his mind, and has a tendency to rob a house blind, although that's partially for religious purposes. Partially.
Job: Shadowdancer
History: Vicaun was born as the unfavored male drow, and entered the service of Vhaerun. Because of his unusual height for his gender, and his rather slim frame, Vicaun was perfectly suited to become a shadowdancer, and travel across the world, sowing mayhem and chaos wherever he went. Vicaun became a half-taint rather early on in his life, when he was about fifty, due to a poorly done shadow jump that shot him straight into the jaws of a demonspawn. He managed to survive, but was a half-taint since. Vicaun is currently traveling back to a Vhaerun temple to present the god with spoils of his travels, and various other religious activities.
Magical abilities: Vicaun is a Shadowdancer with mastery over the Shadow Plane. He can step through shadows to transport him to another place, and has a shadow companion named Nuaciv.
Played by: Malverne

Quote:
Name: Brother Andrew
Age: 24
Race: Human
Hair Color and Length: Dark brown and shaved
Eye Color: Brown
Clothing: Like the rest of his order, Brother Andrew prefers simple clothing consisting of a brown work shirt and black pants and black boots. Under the work shirt is light armor. Around his neck is a wooden talisman with the symbol of Saint Hubert.
Weapons: He carries his hunting knife blessed by the fathers of the order, making it amazingly effective against demons, and strapped to his back is a laser crossbow.
Personality: Andrew is a serious and dutiful young man. The monks never gave him the time for games or much fun as he spent all his time training. To him the world is a proving ground where he must make his stand. He follows orders dutifully from his highers-up. If he pledges his loyalty to a person, they know that they have a companion until the end. Unfortunately, his sense of humor is... lacking severely.
Job: Demon Hunter
History: Andrew does not remember who his parents are, as they were slain by demons when he was still a baby. He, however, was saved by the Order of St. Hubert, a sect of monks who specialize in hunting down demons and tainted ones who accept their other side too willingly. For twenty three years he lived and trained as a brother of the order, preparing for the moment he would be called to action. He is now finishing up his training with two years outside of the monastery to make his own name as a demon hunter before he returns to become the mentor as opposed to the student.
Magical Abilities: He has a few pieces of white magic, including spells for repelling evil and healing wounds. While the order does have divine magical power, it is never used for much other than those two things.
Played by: Keylaleigh

Quote:
Name: Jenna Mullen
Age: 345 (Appears to be in her early twenties)
Race: Vampire
Hair Color and Length: Dark brown and straight. It falls just past her shoulders and is usually kept in a low but tidy ponytail.
Eye Color: Hazel
Clothing: All of Jenna's clothing are black, with the exception of the Mullen family crest emblazoned on her armor, over her heart. She wears a modified exterminator mesh GT with a thickened trauma plate hidden under a heavy leather duster. She is a fan of fedoras, and is periodically seen wearing one. Her civvies are made up of cargo pants and long sleeved shirts. Her steel toed boots are meant for stomping, hiding knives, and holding a personalized flask that is usually filled with blood.
Weapons: Lazer enhanced claw bracers made from inconel 625. Jenna also possesses a number of lazer enhanced throwing knives. And a silenced desert eagle, just for good measure.
Personality: Jenna is quiet, and tries to have as little to do with other people as she can. She's usually polite with people who chose to interact with her in the same fashion. She doesn't like getting too attached to someone she might need to kill to protect herself, or watch die of old age, or worse, feed off of. She's willing to attempt to get along with other races, as long as they don't make assumptions because of what she is. Jenna holds no grudge or malice for half-taints, as they, like she, had no choice in becoming what they are.
Job: Mercenary (Fighter/ Assassin)
History: Jenna never knew the name of the vampire who turned her. She's not even sure of the exact date it happened. Everything she knew about that time was told to her by people who had been present when it happened. Her own memories of that time are fragmented, like a nightmare that fades away with the morning light. She does know that she used to be human, and that she was 25 when she joined the ranks of the undead. She tried denying her new life style to the point of nearly starving to death. By that time, she under the guidance of a friend of hers, she worked out a deal with the local hospital. As long as she didn't go around feeding indiscriminately like some other vampires, she could purchase any excess blood from their stores. Of course, there isn't much at any given time. But it was better than starving.
To make up for the irregular intervals of blood surplus, Jenna became a mercenary. She doesn't like what she does for a living, but she figures it's better than feeding on innocent people. To be sure of this, she only takes contracts on individuals that have a less than desirable reputation.
Magical abilities: Outside of some racial vampire abilities. (Enhanced healing, strength, endurance, and low light vision) Jenna has become a decent Shadowmancer and has some skill with water elemental abilities. In incredibly rare occasions, Jenna will use her ability to command blood. Just because she's a vampire doesn't mean she needs to act like a monster.
Played by:Tsemara

Quote:
Name: Zuvri "Greyskin" U'kilshor
Age: 214 years old
Race: Half-Elf / Half-Drow
Hair Color and Length: White hair going down to his waist, usually kept braided at the back of his head, though he keeps some bangs on his front.
Eye Color: Indigo eyes (or dark blue-ish purple eyes if you prefer)
Clothing: Usually a black shirt and pants with a black leather belt and some protections (shoulder pads, vest, gauntlets, knee pads, boots). He prefers clothes that allow movements, so nothing too stretched, too large or too rigid. He also wears some small accessories (silver chain and earring on the left ear).
Weapons: Two scimitars that he carries at his waist (both on the left side) and a couple of small throwing knives with explosive charges attached to them, tied to a belt and hidden under his vest until he needs to use them. His scimitars possess a laser enhancement that make them glow of a faint blue color and make them cut better. It can be turned off if wanted.
Personality: Reserved; cautious; somewhat of a loner; doesn't like being in a crowd and around drows; a bit impulsive at time; would love to live a simple life, but doubt it will happen one day.
Job: Mercenary (fighter/mage)
History: Zuvri was the illegitimate child of an elven slave mother and a wealthy drow father. Like the other slaves' kids, he was separated from his mother at a young age and placed under the care of teacher, who taught him how to fight so he could become a useful soldier for his family. When he reached adulthood, he was sent on a mission to protect one of his half-brothers during a travel to a nearby city. Unfortunately, they got trapped in an ambush. The other bodyguards and his half-brother perished. Zuvri was still young and inexperienced at that time, and he only survived because he hid well. Once the fight was over, he thought about returning to his hometown, but quickly decided that it wasn't a good idea. Instead, he decided to travel on his own, renting his services as mercenary. Rumors say that his father's clan has placed a bounty on his head, because they believe he is the responsible of their heir's death.
Note: Zuvri's skin is of a grey-ish color, due to the mix of elven and drow blood. That's why he got the nickname "Greyskin". Although he doesn't like it a lot, he often use it instead of his father's last name, U'kilshor, since he doesn't like being reminded of his link to the drow family.
Played by: Maeve

He is a quick thinker, who can be sarcastic and cold. He always has a contemplative look in his eyes and usually walks with his hands shoved in his pockets. He can sometimes have a rather cocky attitude and rarely shows the true anger he holds deep inside himself.
Job: N/A

Kaden, his mother, and step-father went on a trip to meet with his father. His step-father was not informed that his father was half-taint and when he met his father he went ballistic with rage and killed him. The Mother didn't take it well and left the step-father refusing contact, and hungry for revenge and power Kaden went and got himself turned into a vampire. It wasn't until after he became a vampire that he found out his step-father was a paladin and Kaden didn't have enough power being a vampire to exact his revenge. He hopes to find new abilities in the underground that can help him defeat his stepfather.
Magical abilities: Racial vampire abilities, nothing more and he is a young vampire so they are not as powerful

Loth’s Bane centered in the heart of Krillnesh the city that leads to the under dark. It was not so much an Inn or tavern as it was a place where everyone could find something they were looking for. Whether it is work, food, a place to sleep, or even a place to watch a really good arena fight. It could all be found at Loth’s Bane. This is where Kira was headed with a bounty to pick up and to get more work. She never stayed for too long really just long enough to clean up and hear the latest rumors about this and that before leaving again on whatever work she needed to leave on.

Of course she had been hearing rumors all around about a strange group of summoners. People that were purposefully bringing demons into the world for whatever purpose she had heard the inn keeper at Loth’s Bane had placed a large bounty on the heads of whomever they were. Kira kicked her riding wolf a bit to get her to move faster. She wanted to get her money for her latest kill and find out about this new job. The only problem was that it would require her to work with people again. Something she hadn’t done in a very long time.

“Shouldn’t be too bad to work with folks again.” She said walking into the tavern after stabling her wolf. She collected her money and found a table to sit at people watching as she always did after ordering a round for the entire place. Her habit of old never dying once she had been paid off she let the hood of her cloak fall reveling who she was to the patrons, some recognized her and came over to speak others didn’t. She simply waited to see how many others would ask ole Mavis about the under dark job. Thus far he said she had been the only one interested in going there. Of course she was Drow so it was home to her. She had simply clapped the old human on the shoulder and walked away instructing him to call her over if anyone else appeared interested like she had been. He had simply nodded as she walked away.

Brother Andrew had never been down in the underdark before, as the order advised all brothers to avoid it at all costs, but he felt that he needed to spend some time here in order to get a full experience of the world around him. Plus: being the first brother to explore the underdark and survive was a tempting title to hold.

For now, though, he had to stay alive long enough to gain that title. He currently sat at a table in Loth's Bane slowly working on a glass of cider. Brothers of the order never drank alcohol, as it impaired judgement. And impaired judgement was not acceptable in his line of work.

For now he decided to just sit. Sit and observe those that walked in and out.

Vicaun said his goodbyes to his troupe, grinning as the performers joked amongst themselves. He'd proven himself to them. When they'd first welcomed Vicaun among them, he'd been rather ignored but now...well, if they weren't heartless rogues down to the very last one, Vicaun might think they'd miss him.

The drow turned away, and started walking through Krishnell. He had a bag of offerings to Vhaerun at his side, his shadow at his feet, his swords on his back, and mischief on his mind. On the walk into town, Vicaun found his bag full of other people's belongings. Admittedly, he didn't actually steal all of them.

"Don't be too obvious," Vicaun muttered to his feet, "Tch, you'd think this was our first time in a city." A few people noticed the young man talking apparently to himself, but Vicaun flashed them a predatory smile and they backed off. There was something about someone with one red eye that looked violent that made people shut up. Vicaun almost started whistling he was so amused.

He walked through town, looking for a place to stay. He'd been traveling for while, at painfully fast paces. It'd be nice to take his time for once.

It had been two weeks since Kaden found out his step-father was a paladin. All plans he made while on the path to murder his step-father had failed quite miserably. Perhaps the most painful mistake was the hasty decision to become a vampire before he had realized his step-father was a paladin. But he wasn't finished, not until he exacted his revenge. He was running low on pocket money, and his meals were becoming few and far apart. He heard rumors of people who were unleashing demons in the underground, when he tried to ask more in depth questions they told him to go to Loth's Bane.

His stomach was hungry for a meal, and he wanted more information so he followed the directions given to him and ended up in front of the renowned tavern, that was the center of Krillnesh. He opened the doors to the tavern and strolled inside, letting the hood from his hoodie slide off his head. He ran his fingers through his black faux hawk to fix it as he walked up to the bar. He nodded his head at an older man and asked for a whiskey.

"Do you know anything about the people summoning demons in the underground?" he asked in a low voice. He took a swig from his whiskey as the man returned to him and responded with how he had a bounty on the heads of the summoners. Kaden nodded interested. He needed the money, and he also wanted to find out why people were summoning demons. Was it for power? He wanted to find out, it could be helpful and he might be able to administer the power to himself, so he hoped. The man then told him to talk to the Drow, who also was interested in the bounty hunt.

Kaden shifted on his bar stool so he could see the Drow, and raised his eyebrows at her. He hadn't met many Drow in his life. He had no real opinion of them, all he was told were a few stories from his mother as a child, most of which were long forgotten. He put a wry smile on his face, took a swig of his whiskey, and waited hoping she'd come to him.

Kira had been sitting quietly at her table watching other patrons walk in and out. One guy sortave stuck out like a sore thumb to her being in a place like this didn't seem proper for his . She just shrugged it off and sipped at her glass of wine. Noticing Mavis giving her a wave to come over because of a new comer she rose from her seat.

"I was just starting to get comfortable Mavis." She said to the old bartender who shook his head. He was no longer afraid of her like he had once been knowing her threats were mostly hollow. "So this chap here is looking to brave the under dark as well eh. Get him some blood on my coin would ya Mavis looks like he needs that more than that glass of whiskey eh." Mavis just nodded and obliged when she tossed him the coin over the counter coming back with a large flask of blood from the back.

"Name's Kiraray Shrandala everyone just calls me Kira for short. You are?" She asked to the vampire before her he seemed to be quite young for a vampire in her eyes seeing as most she had dealt with were far less into drinking much more than blood.

As Brother Andrew quietly observed the goings-on in the tavern, he overheard the words "summoning demons" and his head lifted. Demons were the exact reason he was wandering the outside world in the first place. He slowly moved towards the person who mentioned the demons, trying to not look too much like an eavesdropper.

Placing his cider on a closer table, he sat down to listen to anything the young man had to say on the subject. Then when he got the information, he would set out to take care of the unholy spawn himself.

He wouldn't just be the first of the Order to brave the Underdark, but also the first to slay demons there. The Fathers would be so impressed.

Vicaun was getting bored just walking around. He stopped at a human merchant's stall to ask a few questions, but wasn't greeted very warmly. The merchant took one look at Vicaun's eyes, and glared.

"Go away half-taint," he snarled, "We don't serve your kind here." Vicaun rolled his eyes, and pulled out some coins.

"My money's as good as anyone else's," the young drow said.

"You drive away business." Vicaun shrugged.

"Then I'll buy something and leave. Not a problem." The merchant hadn't met Vicaun's gaze, being busy at work with something, but now he pulled out a blade, and leveled it at Vicaun's nose.

"Leave. Now." Vicaun glanced at the blade, and his eyes narrowed. Suddenly, the shadow at his feet disappeared, and the merchant was grappling with a man's form, but entirely black. The living shadow got the better of the merchant quickly and forced the man to his knees. Vicaun picked up the dropped blade, and ran a finger down its length.

"Not bad," he said, "Good steel. Could probably take off a man's head without even trying." Vicaun shot the merchant a meaningful look.

"I just wanna know a place to get good food and a room for the night," he said, "Tell me that, and I won't have my shadow snap your back."

"L-loth's Bane!" The merchant exclaimed, "A bar, a few streets down!"

"There we go!" Vicaun said cheerily, "Not that hard, is it? But, because you gave me a bit of trouble, I am going to have to take something from you..."

"Yes. Take as much as you want! I have plenty of good wares!" Vicaun shook his head.

"No, I have something else in mind." Vicaun leaned over, and cut off the man's left hand. "Just a keepsake. I'm taking the sword too, if that's not a problem." The human was a bit too preoccupied to object, and Vicaun walked away, whistling.

"So...Loth's Bane, huh? I'll check it out."

Kaden watched the exchange between Kira, and the man who's name was Mavis, as he casually ran a hand through his thick but fluffy hair. His hand dropped from his head to grip the counter at the mention of blood. He had recently had his fill of blood but being a young vampire his blood lust was not completely under control.

He licked his lips as Mavis set the large flask in front of him. He set down his whiskey and quickly replaced it with the flask, he took a long swig, his fist clenched. When he put the flask back down he took a sip of whiskey to wash away the taste of blood before finally addressing Kira.

"Thanks," he started roughly, "Name's Kaden" he said still a bit uptight. After a moment he settled down and said getting right to the point in his usual manner, "So why are you interested in the underground?"

He looked her over then, for the first time. She seemed quite fit, like someone he wouldn't mind partnering up with for a bounty hunt. He didn't know if he'd need a wing-man but having the option out there was nice.

"It's not so much as an interest as it is a journey home for me really. That and the coin on this bounty is to hard to pass up. I am not usually fond of groups, but if it will help me find out what is trying to start another war and make more of those mother killing demons then I am all for a group." Kira said taking another sip of her glass of wine at the boys questions. She sized him up a bit sitting there figuring he could handle himself in a fight he wouldn't be bad to have along even if she wasn't usually fond of males much less groups.

"So what is your reasons for wanting to go into the under dark?" She asked a bit of curiosity in her voice most didn't dare venture there unless they were Drow but to tell the truth the reasons didn't matter much as long as whomever joined her could keep up and handle themselves. She was mostly asking now to attempt small talk.
