The beautiful rainbow mantis shrimp has incredible visual capabilities. Its eyes have sixteen different photoreceptor pigments (as opposed to our three). It can see things that we could never dream of seeing!

A human infant is born with 300 bones which eventually fuse to form the 206 that we have as adults!

Haha I completely buy that. It makes me so sad that my government takes advantage of its uneducated citizens with a lottery. -_-

Water mites have some interesting mating behavior. They are blind, and they catch their food by sensing the movement of water in front of them and pouncing on it. When a male wants to mate with a female, he sneaks up in front of her, sprays his sperm all over, and then waves it around. She senses the movement of water, and thinking she will get a nice meal, she pounces and instead gets covered in sperm! xD
