Since the searching threads seem to pile up in this forum, we have decided to create an official search thread. Basically, this thread will be used to post small resume of role-players who are looking for partners, with some organized system to help you find what you are looking for.

For now, participation to the thread will be optional. In other word, you can still make a thread for yourself if you prefer. However, if the clutter gets too bad, all players will be asked to keep searching forms in the official thread. You can, of course, always make a thread to discuss a specific role-play (also known as OOC threads).

Rules:
  1. Follow the rules of Midorea.

  2. Only post searching forms in this thread.
    -> Discussion about possible role-plays and such should be done by PM or in another thread.

  3. Be honest when filling out a form.

  4. You can edit your information at any moment.
    -> In fact, it's kind of a good idea to review it from time to time to make sure it stays accurate.
    -> If you've done some important modifications, please PM Maeve about it (just so the info on the front page stays accurate too).

  5. People who have been absent (i.e have not posted) for more than a month will be placed on hiatus.
    -> You can still contact those people, but yeah, chances are they won't answer.
    -> Just contact Maeve when/if you come back to take off the hiatus mention.

  6. More rules can be added at any time.

Information about the Literacy Levels:

We've thought it could be useful to divide players based on their literacy level, so that you can get a better picture of the other players before actually starting a game with them. Thus, we have created the four following categories:

Novice: A novice role-player is someone who wants to role-play, but doesn't want to pay attention to writing at all. This category of players is identified by shorter sentences, little or no punctuation, many grammar mistakes, shorter posts (a few sentences) and sometimes less coherence in the way they play their character.

Intermediate: An intermediate player is someone who can write correctly, although they can make mistakes from time to time. They have a better sense of writing and role-playing than novices, but they don't post extra-long and well-developed posts like the advanced or novelist players would.

Advanced: Advanced players are expected to post longer, more coherent posts than the lower categories. Their writing should be almost perfect (everybody makes mistakes from times to times), and their role-playing skills should be well-developed too. This means they should stay coherent with the character(s) they are portraying and with the overall role-play.

Novelist: Novelist is the highest category, and the players who choose it should be willing to invest lots of their time and energy in their role-play. Their writing should be pretty much perfect, and they should have a good amount of role-playing experience (or willingness to learn and become a great player).

Note that there is no good or bad category: it's just a matter of finding what is right for you, and which partner(s) will suit you the best. If you just want to play and relax, but don't want to spend much energy thinking about a game itself, maybe you'd be better with novice or intermediate players. If however you,re the kind of person who spends a lot of time developing their characters and story and all that, then maybe you'd have more fun with other advanced players.

Information about the Genres:

It appears necessary to start by defining the genres used to categorize players to make sure people understand which is which. If you don't find a category that suits you, or simply would like to see more being added, just contact Maeve.

Anything basically means what it means. Please only choose this if you are really willing to play any genre of role-plays. ((You can choose this and still refuse to take part in some games at any time. You can also have some favorite genres (and it could be a good idea to add them to your form too, just so other people know). Why we mean is that, if there are some categories you know you won't want to play anyway, please don't choose this.))

Adventure is kinda of a wide genre, and can include pretty much everything, so unless you really don't mind playing everything, I'd suggest adding some info about what you are looking for, or picking a more restrictive category. Basically, adventures generally consist of a series of events and are mostly action-based (as opposed to romance and other emotion-based genres). The easiest example would be the story of a little ordinary boy/girl that left his small hometown to travel the world with his friends, looking for something special, but eh, that's just an example. Wink

Fantasy stories are pretty well known in the role-play universe. Basically, anything that his out of the ordinary goes here (unless it fits into Horror or Sci-Fi or some other category). Feel free to add some indications about what you prefer in fantasy when you fill your profile (see below), or PM me to suggest some sub-genres. If enough people ask for the same sub-genres, I'll add it to the first page lists.
Possible fantasy sub-genres:
-> Animal fantasy: role-playing animals;
-> Anthro fantasy: role-playing anthropomorphic creatures;
-> Book-based fantasy: fantasy inspired by books, like Alice in Wonderland, The Chronicles of Narnia, etc.;
-> Historical fantasy: a bit like historical fictions, but not as close to the real historical facts;
-> Sword-and-magic fantasy: classical fantasy with knights and wizards and all that.

Historical fictions are stories that take place in an historically correct setting, although they don't have to showcase actual historical facts. For example, a role-play taking place in the medieval era would go in this category.

Horror stories are for all the role-plays where fear and anguish are omnipresent. You know, zombie breakout, paranormal phenomenons, alien invasion, pandemic, etc. Most of those elements can be found in other genres, but if the general atmosphere is creepy, well, it probably belongs here.

Modern fictions are pretty much like historical fictions, the main difference being that they take place in a modern-day setting. There's no magical elements here (or at least not more than you can find in the real world), and technology should be pretty much equal to what it is today.

Romances are role-plays where the main concern is, well, romance and emotions in general. Like a love story, or something similar. Since emotions are at the center of the game, the other elements (settings and such) are not as important.

Science-fiction is for anything where technology plays a major role in the story. Spaceships, cyborgs, scientifically-generated mutants, etc. It can take place in the future, or in some alternate universe, or some strange mix between the two.

Steampunk is generally a hybride between historical fiction, sci-fi and some fantasy. The base of it is that the world technology level is around that of the steam/Victorian era on earth, although the settings can vary a lot.

Suspense/Thrillers are similar in a way to horror story, except that the central emotion is suspense. Political games, detectives' investigations, basically anything where you don't know what's gonna happen next. The setting should generally be historical or modern, but really, the main concern in this genre is the plot.

Aidan sighed, peeking out the blinds of the one window of the cheap, tacky little motel room. Tora wasn't back yet. He didn't like being stuck here all alone while Tora and his sister went out and risked their lives for him. It made him feel useless. He was an inconvenience to everyone.

There as a knock on the door, and Aidan jumped, moving away from the window. Tora had taken one of the keys to the room, and the spare was lying on the desk a few feet away from where Aidan sat. And Anya would have called of she or Rae had been planning on dropping by. He tiptoed to the curtain and peeked out, and was surprised to see Star standing there. That was odd. Why wasn't he at the circus with Rae?

But Rae had always trusted Star, and Aidan had always trusted Rae's judgement. So Aidan opened the door for the nine-foot-tall blonde man. He was surprised to see that Star was wet; he hadn't realized that it was raining outside.

"Star." Aidan said, half as a question and half as an identification. "What are you doing here? I thought you were in Alaska with Alex?" And even if Aidan had been misinformed, it didn't make any sense for Star to be here. He would want to stay with Alex, or with Rae at least. Unless something had gone wrong... the thought made Aidan queasy.

"Can I come in?" Star asked. It was evident it both his face and his voice that something was troubling him. Aidan nodded and the big man strode past him and took a seat in one of the uncomfortable armchairs at the back of the room. Aidan took a seat across from him.

"We were wrong, Aidan." Star said grimly. "Oliver isn't after Scar. He wants Alex."

Kana watched him carefully when he suddenly fled to the back of the store. She couldn't see what had happened, having been distracted otherwise, but the sounds of the fumbling worried her- had he been injured? Or was he getting injured as he fumbled about? however, when he returned, she saw the finger bandaged and let out a small sigh of relief. The fact that he returned straight to the topic both endeared her, and surprised her.

"True...Dark colors do tend to absorb heat. I always worry about the animals because some of my cows have some dark coats. And Shadow's all black..." She laughed nervously, rubbing the back of her head. "We got lucky in our family to have light hair color, though we tend to burn easily if we're not careful. It's harder for the animals during hot weather, though..."

When he began writing on the paper, her mind flooded with a desire to know what it was that his hands worked so gently to write. To her, his writing hand looked elegant even if he was scribbling. It made her remember how much femininity she felt she lacked- but it wasn't in her nature to over worry about her tomboyish tendencies. Sure, she was haphazard and over-energetic. She tended to get dirty easily, and didn't fear it in the least- and she was certainly not the most graceful girl out there by any means. However, she was certain even she had at least a few feminine qualities- she just wasn't sure what they were yet.

"So you wanted to be a farmer as a kid? That's pretty neat! When I was young, I just wanted to be a mother. Silly, right?" She giggled nervously, a slight pinkness reaching her face from the embarrassing fact she never spoke much about. "Well...If you ever feel like it, you're welcome to come by the ranch anytime. I bet the animals would love you. They always love new friends, and they're all very sweet!" Her speech about the animals was far more upbeat and natural than her earlier sentiment, but it seemed she was not aware of that fact. "Your cats can come too if you'd like. I'm not sure what they're like, but it should be fine. They're lucky though, that they have such a nice owner."

Genres you prefer: Fantasy, Modern Fiction, Science Fiction, Romance, Adventure.
Romantic y/n?: Yes.
--M/M, F/F, M/F (or something else)?: I prefer F/F or M/F, but can also do M/M if the story is enjoyable.
Any plot ideas you'd like to focus on for the RP: I have no particular focus for an RP right now, but will happily hear any ideas you have.
Other information: PM me if interested. My sleep cycle varies, so I can't guarantee when I will post exactly. I'll RP with basically anyone, no matter what literacy level, so don't feel afraid to send me a message no matter who you are! I do some fan based too, if wanted, as long as it's based on original characters.

Wyatt stared out the window of his dingy apartment, drinking in the neon lights as a fish would gulp down water. “Come on, inspiration, come to me,” he mumbled softly as his fingers gently touched a string on his guitar, before flitting to the next in an attempt to make some kind of melody. “The cold sidewalk is no place for you and I… Nope, that sucked.” With an angry sigh, he threw the guitar down—well, more placed it back in its case—and turned away from the view of London’s nightlife.

As he crossed his small living room/dining room/kitchen to get a blanket, his outdated cellphone started to buzz like a bee in his pocket. Still moving, he flipped it open and answered distractedly.

“Ello?”

“Wyatt, right?”

Wyatt blinked into the phone and made a face at the man’s rude tone. Recovering his blanket from the top of his bed, he wrapped it around his shoulders as a makeshift cloak and went back to the window. “Um, yes, this is he.”

“Good. We’ve got a client for you.”

Wyatt froze mid-step. A client? Then this man was from that escort company he’d signed up for last week. He’d known little to nothing about this company, just that his friend recommended it, and they treated their escorts with the utmost respect. That was important to him, and if that little detail hadn’t been involved in the rundown, he would’ve steered clear. Despite the no-sex guarantee, he didn’t want to be treated like a whore. He’d heard the horror stories from other companies, and wanted nothing to do with them.

Shaking himself out of his daze, he settled into his bay window and nodded. “Right. A client. Um, when and where?”

As the man gave him an address, name, and time, Wyatt had to bite back a gasp. That was one of the richest neighborhoods in London! He ran a hand through his hair and over his uncut beard nervously. Would he look to ragged for this meeting? A shower was clearly in order. “And Wyatt,” the man said, slicing through Wyatt’s thoughts like a hot knife through butter, “dress nice.” The man laughed sharply and hung up, leaving Wyatt with a dead line and pounding heart.

After a quick shower, in which he shaved, washed his hair, and made sure he was squeaky all over, he found himself standing in front of his closet, panicking slightly. “Nothing nice. He said dress nice, but I have nothing nice!” He pulled out an old sweater, one he swore he would never wear again because it clashed with his skin tone, and threw it on over a pair of black slacks. He checked himself in a mirror. Still-wet hair, trimmed beard, mismatching clothes… It was the best he was ever going to look.

He headed out of his apartment and hailed a cab. The ride was long and bouncy, making Wyatt glad he hadn’t eaten before leaving. He probably would’ve barfed if he had. As he tumbled out of the cab, he handed over some money to the driver—the last of his money, he was sad to realize—and headed into the building.

The woman working on the ground floor buzzed him in when he said he had “an appointment with Mr. Graham.” She looked down her nose at him as he passed; he was clearly way out of his league. He rode the fancy elevator up to Mr. Graham’s floor and found his room. Before he knocked, he made sure everything was in order. He straightened his sweater, ran a hand through his hair to get it shagging just right, and plastered as genuine of a fake smile on his face as he could, then raised a fist to let it land on the door a few times, signalling his arrival.

Genres you prefer: Adventure, fantasy, modern fiction, historical fiction, romance, sci-fi, steampunk, basically whatever?
Romantic y/n?: Yes, but not focusing on it.

Any plot ideas you'd like to focus on for the RP: I've got some ideas here.

The thread has been updated.

Also, I've added a "anything" category to the genres' list. So, if you don't mind playing anything, you can choose that.
