Two years have passed since Arachne was killed. Two years since the apparent end of Arachnophobia. Two years since Maka and Soul, along with their friends, infiltrated the base in order to put an end to the madness.
And things are just beginning.
New students are constantly filing into DWMA, making friends and developing partnerships, creating their own stories. Join the school, cause chaos from afar, pick a side. The fight is only just starting.

These are dark times. It has been about two years since the Demon God, Kishin Asura, managed to escape from his prison hell beneath DWMA, the Technical School for Meisters and Demon Weapons. The spread of Asura's released "Madness" has been slowly increasing with every passing day, despite the school's best efforts to curb its progress. Everyone is sure that it has almost veiled the planet in a bloody haze by now, covering it in a swirling red cloud of strife and nightmares, much to the delight of Arachnophobia's and the other Witch Covens.

The many small skirmishes between DWMA and Arachnophobia have now finally erupted into an all-out war that spans the far corners of the globe, despite the death of their leader Arachne at the hands of Medusa the Snake Witch. It would not be unreasonable to assume that Medusa has taken control of her late sister's group for her own ends. As for her involvement with the escape of Kishin Asura... that is still much of a mystery.

Not only that, but the other Witch Covens and lesser evils have either allied with Arachnophobia or taken advantage of the chaos to stir their own desires. The appearance of Kishin Eggs have seen a nearly 300% increase since Asura's escape and the outbreak of the war, and the numbers show that the rate is only growing. If this keeps up for much longer, then fear for the safety for the mortal cities of the world...

However... All is not yet lost.

To combat this new and greater threats, Lord Death has been hard at work strengthening DWMA's combat and intelligence-gathering capabilities, as well as reuniting with old allies and seeking out new ones.

Within the last year, there has been unprecedented surge in student enrollment at DWMA from all over the globe. Many of them are now starting to show signs of having awesome potential, while many of the older and experienced students are becoming prodigies in their own right. With the right teaching, training, and partners... they may become a force to rival even that of Arachnophobia within a short time.

Death was also fortunate enough to welcome a total of 13 Deathscythes and Deathscythe Meisters over the last two years. An astoundingly high number from other eras. With the recent betrayal of Justin Law, the Demon Guillotine and Deathscythe, and all the trouble he caused with poor BJ's murder.... Well, we shall need all the fresh talent we can get very soon.

In addition, this year also marks the return of some of DWMA oldest and staunchest of allies throughout history.

The Knights of the Pentacle. A family of noble born Witch Hunters dating back all the way back to Great Britain's Middle Ages. The only thing greater than their bravery and dedication is their hatred for the evils perpetrated by Witches.

The Illuminati. An ancient shadow organization of European alchemists, scientists, and magicians. They have been responsible for some of humanity's greatest and most insightful discoveries, and their supreme belief in Reason and Order have unraveled many of history's great mysteries.

The Kaku'reta Kao. A sect of Buddhist monks composed of some of the most powerful holy men and women in all of Japan. They are very secretive and often appear mysterious to outsiders, but their holy strength and knowledge in the ways of combating the Witch's Dark Arts is unrivaled by even DWMA.

It is very fortunate that DWMA has found the strength to keep fighting and endure the war for this long, but now it is also time to figure out Arachnophobia's and Medusa's true plan. And put a stop to them once and for all.

MAIN CHARACTER TYPES

Weapons: In a nutshell, Weapon-Type characters are humans who are born with the bizarre ability to transform into a weapon or other item of power. This can be anything from swords, guns, knives, axes, spears.... or even just a flute with the ability to create sonic disturbances when played. The sky is the limit when deciding on what your character can turn into. But with a few exceptions... One character may only turn into one weapon. Meaning that a single person may not turn into a set of two gauntlets, two guns, two swords, etc. If you really really want to have a character with a double weapon form like that, then you have to PM a mod and we'll discuss until we can come up a reasonable solution that won't turn the SE Universe on its ear.

Weapon-Type characters also have the ability to enter "Hybrid State", meaning that certain aspects of their Weapon Form can appear in their human form. Soul Eater Evans, for example, can turn his arm into a blade to attack with. However, a Hybrid Form is always much weaker than their complete Weapon Form. A weapon, after all, is meant to be wielded, so it'll be impossible for them to access 100% of their power and abilities through their Hybrid Form.

Weapons and Meisters team up at DWMA to battle Kishin Eggs (Corrupted Humans) and Witches, and they gain power by absorbing the Souls of the foes they defeat. Or the Weapons do, anyway. In order to become a Death Scythe, and thus usable by the Grim Reaper himself, a Weapon must first absorb the souls of 99 Kishin Eggs and then 1 Witch's Soul. IN THAT ORDER. If you absorb a Witch's soul without first absorbing the souls of 99 Kishin Eggs, then you're souls will be confiscated and you'll have to start over.

Meisters: Meisters (also known as Technicians and Smiths) team up with their Weapon partners to do battle. And while they may be powerful on their own, their powers are magnified when wielding a true Weapon.

Meisters tend to be ranked with stars. The basic DWMA student starts out with One Star. They possess some degree of skill, but their powers aren't amazing or unheard of before. As they complete missions and train, their star ranking may then increase, and they'll unlock hidden potential that was previously hidden from them.

For the most part, Meisters tend to have one of two primary abilities. The first is the ability to sense and see the souls of others and discern their power levels. This is called Soul Perception. This is a handy ability that allows the Meister to know exactly how strong their opponent, and even get a brief flash of insight into who their opponent is as a person on the deepest of levels. Of course, that only comes after a lot of training and such. And in addition to all of that, Soul Perception can also be used to block and/or negate an opponent's soul-based attack such as Soul Purge. This is done by viewing the frequency of the target's soul wavelength and then harmonizing your own soul wavelength with it so that they both match (more or less).

Their second ability is to utilize their Soul Wavelength as a form to attack. This is technique can have many names, but the most common is Soul Purge. This is usually done by channeling the energy from a Soul Wavelength into a limb and then striking with it, thereby greatly increasing the power behind it and adding some interesting effects that can be unlocked later. Of course, this is still nothing compared to when a Weapon is in your hands and your Soul Wavelength is magnified because of it. Not everyone can use this skill, but with enough time and effort it can be a truly effective tool.

Witches: Witches are relatively easy to spot - when not hidden with Soul Protect and not in disguise, their souls are MASSIVE...and their appearance is just as obvious. They all center upon a token animal, whatever that may be, and tend to have physical features that reflect it - some very obvious, some less so. Their spellcasting chants reflect their animal as well - Medusa, a snake witch, for instance, chants "Snake, snake, cobra, cobra...." Most can take the form of their animal also.

Witches tend to want to cause chaos, but as with anyone, there are exceptions to this rule. Some of them just go about their own business, studying magic in their safe havens. There are plenty of kinds of magic...the possibilities are endless.

~RULES~

BEHAVE- Don't start things. Just don't. Even if you mean well, keep any arguments or snide remarks OFF of the forum. Don't throw a fit if you don't get your way and don't insult others. We're here to have fun, not to start stuff.

OOC FIGHTING- This goes along with behaving. Don't start crap on the forum. If you have a problem with someone don't start something with them. Settle it over PM, but not in a public area.

ACTIVITY- Keep yourself and your characters active. We don't enforce that you post once a day, but more than two times a week is definitely good. Canon characters need to be as active as possible.

LITERATE ROLEPLAY- This should go without saying, but this should be a LITERATE roleplay. Really. We can't stress this enough. We're not expecting you to have super-phenomenal writing/posting skills, but we going to expect the bare basics from you. That means correct spelling and grammar, posting in the third-person perspective, and having at least two to three paragraphs of content in a post before you hit the submit button.

~ROLEPLAY RULES~

CANONS- Canon characters are the characters from the series. If you want to rp a Canon character, please make sure that the one you want to try out for is available first. Then make sure you can be active with them.

OC CHARACTERS- Your own characters. Fan characters. Characters you wouldn't normally see in the series. These are, basically, the opposite of Canon characters, but they are just as important. OC's make up the majority of the character base for most any rp. OCs can be witches, meisters, weapons, golem enchanters, and kishin eggs.

    * NON-HUMAN STUDENT/TEACHER CHARACTERS: We are currently no longer accepting non-human DWMA students and teachers. There were never supposed to be very many of them present in the roleplay in the first place. Anyone who wishes to play a character who is not human cannot also be a student attending DWMA or a teacher who is employed there. It shall remain this way until further notice.

    * Insanity in Student/Human Characters: It seems nowadays that everyone and their mothers are making Soul Eater OC's that are afflicted by in Insanity somehow. That's all well and good, but if you're planning on making them into a student or a teacher at DWMA, then you're going to be running into a lot of issues real quick. One of the main purposes for DWMA's existence is to combat the spread of Insanity, so it doesn't make sense for it to start accepting every psycho that walks through the door. There have been a few rare exceptions (mainly Dr. Franken Stein and a very small number of OC's on here), but the keyword to remember is rare And we're seeing so much of it now that its becoming anything but that.

    * WEAPON FORMS- Weapon forms have to be ONE form, that means your character cannot transform into TWO pistols, TWO swords, or anything of the sort. The only way that is even remotely acceptable is if there's a chain/wire/something connecting the two weapons together, like how a chain connects Tsubaki's two scythes together in her Kusarigama form.

BALANCE- very character needs balance, from the youngest student to the oldest witch. No character can get away with 5 super strong strengths and 2 little weaknesses. There has to be a good balance between the two. Every strength has a weakness to counter it and make things even. Black Star, for instance, is a great fighter, but his hyper and egotistical personality, as well as his lack of book smarts, makes up for that. Tsubaki has multiple weapon forms, but she's shy and even a tad bit withdrawn. Maka is....well Maka. See? Balance.

Even Excaibur has a balance! He's very strong, but his over all personality is extremely annoying.

Everything needs to be taken into account when coming up with strengths and weaknesses. Personality, history, attacks. Everything that makes up your character can be part of strengths and weaknesses.

In your character profile you need at least 4 weaknesses, and three of those need to be a weakness that can effect a battle. Stamina, endurance, physical strength, we have a thread about this that you can find here. If you can't think of three battle weaknesses then your character isn't balanced.

TYPES- There are a multitude of different types of characters you can rp here. Meisters and weapons are the main group, however witches and Kishin Eggs also make up a good portion. We do allow golem engineers, too. However, if you want a werewolf character, they cannot be a student at DWMA. Keep in mind when you want to create a witch that they aren't rped a lot, as the places they can be rped and who they can rp with is severely limited. The same goes for Kishin Eggs.

SOUL WAVELENGTH- Soul Wavelength attacks aren't a necessity for every character, and even then, they need to be balanced out attacks with strengths and weaknesses listed. As well, keep the Soul Eater universe in mind. Off the top of my head, only four weapons can use any sort of elemental attacks and that's only when in weapon form and lightning and fire based. Your wavelength attack cannot cause earthquakes, storms, or a giant meteor to fall from the sky. A simple variation of the Soul Purge or Soul Perception are always welcomed, but in moderation.

PARTNERS- PLEASE do NOT make a meister and weapon team by yourself. This takes all the fun out of rping and getting to know people. The entire idea behind making a character is to interact and meet new people, and what better way then to force people to have to talk to people to get teams made? You can get a partner for your character through rping or even by asking and planning out a team before creating a character.

GODMODDING- Making your character all powerful, able to withstand everything, unable to die, Speedy Gonzalez on steroids! This is a big major NO. No one wants to rp with someone that is already so powerful and 'amazing' that they cannot be beat. The entire point of starting out at a low strength level if to build up and expand your character. Everyone dies eventually, and when you're a teenager fighting for your life against a near-demon, you're going to get injured and possibly killed.

POWER PLAYING- This, my rp loving friends, is acting out someone else's character. Whether it's by actions, an attack landing, their thoughts, whatever. It's not allowed. The rper of the character decides what happens to their character, not you.

It was the first day of school at the DWMA. The purple haired female walked up the stairs to the front door of the academy. She took a quick glance around and noticed that she was the only one around. She tilted her head slightly and let out a soft sigh. Was this going to be a slow school year? Was it because she was there...? She brushed a loose strand of hair behind her ear and took a seat on the steps, putting down the bag she carried with a few books and notebooks for her to take notes. She pulled a pair of leather gloves from the side of her belt and slid them onto her hands.
"Seriously...It's the first day of school and I'm the only one here....? I suppose I am a little early but still....And now I'm talking to myself...."

She raised her hand up and pulled the sunglasses down that rested on her head. The sun was shining too brightly for her and she didn't like bright lights much...She pulled her legs in close and hugged her knees close to her. She figured that since it was so early, the doors would be locked...She never tried but she was pretty sure. She closed her eyes as she sit curled up on the steps leading to the main entrance.
"Wonder how long I'll have to sit here..."

Mel sighed as she walked towards the academy. She was the first of her family to recieve schooling like this, and she really hoped that she'd take to it well. As was expected, she was extremely nervous about her first day. How long would it take for her to find a partner? Would she even find someone compatable. She sighed. "I really have to stop worrying about all of this." She thought to herself as she made her way to the front steps. "I'll find a partner here."

There was already one person sitting on the steps, most likely waiting for the doors to be unlocked. This other girl was of course much taller than Mel, but then again, so was everyone. She was already afraid of people making fun of her height like they did back home. Well, if they did, she could easily beat any one of them, most likely. But then again, these were other weapons, and probably much tougher than any of the kids back home.

She sat down near, and a step above, the other girl waiting. "So..." she said, trying to strike up a conversation. "Are you new here too?"

Emiko opened her eyes as she heard the female's voice. She smiled and straightened out her legs, lifting her sun glasses up again to her head. She nods slowly and leans down against the step.
"Yep, I'm new here...Just waiting for the doors to open... I came so early, I was excited to start... I have no clue what's in store here but it seems exciting...But now I'm not even sure if I'd even find a weapon...well, partner."

She laces her fingers together and twirls her thumbs around each other, giving off the shy impression. She wasn't really. She was just bored.
"You're new too, hmm? It's nice to meet ya, my name is Emiko... I'm a Meistor. Sorry, I was never good at making friends so...I don't even know what I'm saying, haha"

She looks back down and scratches the back of her head lightly. Her eyes slowly close again and she crosses her legs. She wore leggings under her skirt but was still a little conscious about certain things.

Momiji looked up at the DWMA, and sighed.

"This place is a drag." he said quietly. Momiji hated everything, Mainly because Everything has a bad side to it, and whats the point liking somthing if it turns out to be bad. Momiji stepped up to the door and noticed two girl talking to each other. They seemed nice, but there was probably something bad about them too.

"Hey am I early or what?" He asked bluntly. He honestly didn't care, but he just didn't feel like being left out of a conversation. One of his pet Peves

Emiko looked up at the male and arched an eyebrow. She rose her hand and gave a light wave. She uncrossed her legs and leaned forward.
"Yea...We're early but the doors shou-"

Before she could finish, the doors behind her opened slowly. She stood slowly and brushed her skirt down, straightening it. No one was behind the door, they just opened. She laced her fingers together and rose them over her head, stretching and took a step up to the top step then looks back to the male and female.
"Guess we can go in..."

She looks at the male and smiled warmly,
"My name is Emiko, by the way...And you two are the first two I've met here so far...I'm a Meistor!"

"Yep, you're early!" Mel answered the young man that just walked up to her and Emiko. He seemed to have a real chip on his shoulder, and she wasn't quite sure if she liked him quite yet. Emiko, though, would hopefully make a great friend. She would give them both a chance before making assumptions, though. In her absentminded thoughts, Mel looked over at the large doors.

"Hey... did anyone here actually try opening the door? Maybe we could wait around inside..."

As she was about to finish her sentence, the doors creaaked open. "Well, how convenient!" She remarked, walking in with the other two. As she heard Emiko mention that she was a meister, she grinned a bit. "I'm a weapon, a battle axe to be precise."

"No, actually...I didn't try to open them but they opened by themselves which is just awesome! Haha."
As she talked, she walked in with the female, blinking as she heard she was a weapon!
"An axe!? Awesome, haha. Battle Axes are really cool. And I get the feeling that you will find a strong Meistor to partner with."
She wasn't going to get her hopes up, she had not had a friend for a while now, let alone a partner.
As she walked through the doors, she looks down the long hallway and sighs softly.
"Ugh...long hallways...This academy is gonna give me a work out isn't it...?"

Emiko knew she sounded lazy...but after walking up all those steps to get into the academy, she has to walk down long halls? Something she'd have to get used to. She lightly scratched the back of her head and pulls her hair tie out, letting her long purple hair fall down along her shoulders. Her hair out like this, reached down to her elbows with her arms to her side. She slid the hair tie around her wrist like a bracelet and then brushed her hair back behind her shoulders. She wasn't really too concerned with the male. If he wanted to stay outside, she wasn't going to bother him...

Momili watched the doors opened and looked at the girl claiming she was an Axe. Momiji followed them down a long hallway. There was already something bad with this school. It had a long hallway.

"My name is Momiji." He said, trying his best to be polite. "I'm a Broad sword." He said, flexing his figures.

Mel looked down the long hallway and smirked. "Raceyatotheend!" She shouted as she made a mad dash down. She already had a feeling that nobody would take her up on the race, but that didn't matter. Such a long, straight, line deserved to be ran down while nobody was cluttering them. She needed a good run to get the nervous-ness out of her system. Already she had met two people that had seemed nice enough, and Emi was confident that she would find a partner that would be strong enough.

One of her best friends had the ability to be a weapon meister, but when her and Mel tried to work together, Mel was too heavy for her friend to even lift. And that was what happened with everyone. Despite her small size as a person, her size as a weapon was enormous due to training. She would have to find a new way to train now that she didn't have her parent's weight room. But that would be her worries for later. Right now, she had to run to the end of the hallway.

Emi smiled to the male and let out a soft chuckle, "It's nice to meet you Momiji!" She turned her attention back to Mel and grins a bit, quickly breaking into a run behind her, quickly gaining speed and catching up to her, now running beside her. Determination now in her expression to reach the end before her. She was now a little concerned about the male. A broad sword? Her ideal weapon. So far, she had not met any meistor since she has been here. Mel seemed nice enough but Emiko lacked the strength to lift up a heavy battle axe.
She glanced over at Mel as they raced down the hall. She took a quick glance over her shoulder to Momiji to see if he followed but then quickly turned ahead again to avoid running into anything. As they neared the end of the hall, Emiko tried running faster than she knew she was capable of running, taking steady breaths so she wouldn't get too tired out. "I'm SO gonna win!" She says, laughing a bit.
