I've just recently gotten into collecting and reading Fantasy/adventure novels and I was wondering if anyone had some books to recommend?

Books so far:
Tolkien:
The Silmarillion
The hobbit
The lord of the rings

Warcraft: The last Guardian
The wayfarers redemption <-- Wonder book/series
The name of the wind

And I have 2 other books on hold at the usedbook store.

I mainly read Fantasy/adventure so nothing romantic or boring like that.
(For me anyways)

Have you read anything by RA Salvatore yet? He's a classic!

Nope, I haven't. I'll look them up..
I've been limiting my book collection to used novels under 5 bucks..
I'm poor, so I can't afford new hardbacks.

You can most likely get 'em used for cheap.

He wrote all the stories about Drizzt Do'Urden, the famous dark elf ranger that almost every dark elf character is a clone of.

Yeah I see this...I've actually heard of him..

I saw a few of his Path of darkness books..the first and last one I believe..
I was really blind going into that bookstore.
Its a small one right down the block from my house and they have a very nice selection of books in the back area..I was on my knees looking for the book I've been looking for (Enchanter by Sara Douglass) but I just grabbed the one I knew of, the silmarillion.

When it came to Salvatore, I was actually more fond of his Cleric Quintet as opposed to his Drizzt novels, so look for them to start

I enjoyed both Cleric Quintet and Drizzt, although it was a long time ago. I'd need to re-read them sometime Hai

Anyway, if you like those kind of books, pretty much everything else in the Forgotten Realms collection is similar (basically all taking place in the same world, but around different characters and by different authors). I don't consider most of them to be uber-good, but they are a nice read.

Yeah I was looking at the Forgotten Realm stuff..

I got a Mercedes Lackey book; Take a Thief!
Alot of her books seem really good so I'm probably gonna start reading her.

I found the three Drizzt books, I want them too..

I would recommend Terry Brooks and his Shannara series. They're pretty good. Also, I figure you could check out Jane Lindskold's books. I really liked her Firekeeper series. Her Thirteen Orphans books are looking good, though I haven't had the time to get her latest one.

Aww okay!
I'll add them on the list I have.

I got a few more books by Mercedes Lackey. She has a series calles The last herald mage...the main character is actually homosexual and its really neat.. The book is very sad though...its almost a romantic tragedy instead of a fantasy/adventure novel. x.x;

If you're looking for something a little more laidback and groovey, I would definitely recommend Terry Pratchett's Discworld series. You can start at the beginning, like some people do, or you can start somewhere in the middle if those books suit you better/are more available.

I personally recommend Guards! Guards! or Going Postal. Both are absolutely astounding (and funny to boot).

Also, if you haven't been scared off by all the talk about its religious implications, The Golden Compass and its sequels are breathtaking books.

How about Eragon? There's a tiny bit of romance, but not much at all. Or Maximum Ride? But, that gets pretty dang romancey after the first three books... Or! The Tomorrow Code! Mega awesome book!

Seconding Terry Pratchett. If you like parody, that is. Though he does get more serious in his later books.

TERRY PRATCHETT ALL THE WAY <3 The man is amazing, even though his books are pretty much satirical in nature.

Hm...I've delved more deeply into his YA series than the entire main series, so I'm not sure which book to suggest to you, though...I'll go poke my uncle; he's practically the LoreKeeper of that series...

As for others, I don't think there's any I can recommend at the moment unless you're also looking for some hardcore romance (though there is actually plot, le gasp! That, and its more supernatural than fantasy...).
