The name of it should tell you the point - In one year, you shoot to read 50 books. Start any time you like and finish the challenge 12 months later! You can read anything from textbooks to graphic novels to biographies to science fiction. If you think of it as a book, and you read it, you can add it to your challenge list.

The point of this post is to provide a place to discuss the challenge. Feel free to post your cumulative reading lists so that you can keep track of what number you are on. Feel free to ask for or offer advice on finishing the challenge. Or just bitch and moan about how you don't think you'll ever make it.

.: Rules :.

Bouncy Heart As always, follow all Midorea Rules

Bouncy Heart If you wish to post your list, you may only post it once. That post must then be edited with all of your future updates. If I find that you've been posting your list multiple times, all of them will be deleted.

Bouncy Heart Although it isn't necessary to post a continuous list, I highly suggest it (as opposed to posting your books one by one as time goes by). Not only will it help you keep track of everything, but everyone else will then be able to easily look at what you've been reading. And after all, getting good recommendations is half the fun.

Bouncy Heart Do not criticize one another's reading lists. Not everyone has the same tastes. If you dislike a novel listed by another user, you may ask them what they liked about the writing but you may not insult their pick.

Bouncy Heart No plot spoilers. If you're about to give away any information that wouldn't normally be found on the back cover of the book, check yourself and don't post it.

Bouncy Heart I'm really sorry, but I will not be including manga. I found out most people read them and at a fast rate, so I'm not including it in the list.

Bouncy Heart I'm adding a 'Question of the Week' challenge. Users will try to answer the question and the one with the best answer will receive 20 in silver. Prizes will increase soon!!!

Bouncy Heart I have the right to change any rules here...

Aw, I wish that I had more time. :< I'm pretty swamped with event/contest planning, babysitting, and a summer reading assignment. And working if I get the job that I'm applying for. Fufufufu...

I may take this on whenever things cool down though. XD But who knows when that'll be, considering my schedule for next year. *sigh*

Awwh... poor Chu!

Really, my favorite books are anything that isn't real. I like fantasy, sci-fi, and supernatural. In fact, I've dedicated my summer to finding all of the Redwall books and reading them again. I haven't read Martin the warrior in... oh, five years or so. It's practically a new book!

And the question of the week:

I'm fond of print books for a number of reasons. First off, the format for reading an e-book is so expensive! I'd rather spend seven dollars than two hundred to buy the device, and THEN seven dollars. Just... no. The second, and in my mind most important, reason is that one device looks nowhere near as awesome as an old-school shelf-spanning library. Yeah, the e-book device is much easier and can hold libraries of books on it, but I WANT MY ROLLING LADDER! I want the ability to dramatically sweep my hand as I say "Welcome to my private library." and leave onlookers in awe.
So... yeah. I'm fond of the print medium.

Question of the Week:

I prefer print. Books are my life. When I get money, it usually goes towards books. I can't imagine having them as e-books -- it just wouldn't be the same. I want my own private library and I agree with Key about the rolling ladder. Ever since I was a little girl I have wanted my own library with a rolling ladder. I personally own more books then my entire family combined. I love it when people walk into my little closet room and see all of my books. I especially love it when the comment on the number.
If I had all of these on e-book:
1. It would be really cluttered with all of the titles (plus I have different versions of some books which wouldn't be available as an e-book D: )
2. There would be no beautiful cover art for me to oggle at.
3. It would not be half as impressive as a room full of books.

Sorry...Long answer. In short: I prefer print.

My favorite genre would be what Keyla posted. I love anything that can only be found in my dreams. There are some days where I have had too much of reality and sometimes, to cool myself down, I would reach out for one of my fantasy-type books.

To tell you the truth, I haven't officially gotten into reading until 6th Grade. The years before were just a blur. I liked to play games. A LOT. That is, until I held the first fantasy book in my hands. Well, it has been long, so I don't really remember what it is. Confused

Bedknobs and Broomsticks... Oh, how I loved that movie!
I'd like a library just like the one in Beauty and the Beast... Oh Mai
