insect & beetles.
MY. FUCKING. GOD.
I can't stand them... ; n ;
And larva...It's going to eat me...even though I know it wont...
My worst nightmare is the Botfly from Africa or where ever that fucker is from. I'd rather have a tape worm in my gut, thanks.

My other two are heights and falling, which is going to be interesting (and painful) when I finally fly in an air plain.

Any insect that is capable of giving a nasty sting, spiders and riding any type of vehicle that suddenly goes really fast.

The first two are self-explanatory. The third one developed very recently after I was riding a public van going home. The driver wasn't looking at the road well enough, and ran over an infant. I remember hearing a ton of screams around and wailing, but none of them came from the child who got hit. I remembered getting dizzy when the driver was told to back up, and you could feel the body and tiny bones being crushed underneath the van.

The rest of the passengers and I rushed out, and I remember seeing a ton of blood on the road. There was so much.. I was to afraid to see the state of the child, because the men who tried to help the kid out would always grimace and the others tried to look away as much as possible. The state of the child was probably like road-kill. I walked the rest of the way home, and threw up.

Now I'm afraid of crossing the street without having someone hold my hand like a child. Riding a vehicle that goes past 80 mph now makes me grip my seat in panic. What if we hit another kid? What if WE get hit by a truck that didn't notice us zooming by?

Yeah.. I'm really hoping I can just overcome this one real soon.

D: That...is really really sad. QQ

I just wanna hug you... Sad

Also, my phobia is losing any of my 5 primary senses (though I've come to terms that I can lose my sense of smell and be okay)

Another phobia is death. But that is a long story with no solid basis.

Losing my sense of smell would be fine with me as well, oddly.
But theres no way I could lose my sense of touch & site and be ok.
I'm an artist, so site is a no brainier as to why.
However, tactile touch is VERY important for an artist.

Like,

blindness, couldn't see people, or art. I like art QQ
touch, can't feel things. I really don't want to find out how you'd live like that.
deaf? Fuck, there goes using the phone, talking, music...

taste was one that was sort of like smell, but after not being able to eat for 9 weeks, I realize how much you miss taste...

So I deemed those 4 senses sacred, and I thank God that I still have them, and have always had them. Bouncy Heart

I don't think I could handle losing any of my senses... but definitely not touch. It's so important... and it's also really dangerous to lose, too.

Yeah, for real....

Though I really feel bad about people who are deaf or blind. They are missing it, so I pity them. But they live alright with it, not missing what they didn't have, so I also feel bad myself for having these senses. It's like an "I'm spoiled" kind of feeling.

Pretty much if there was a real deaf person reading this, they'd just hear me being afraid of what's normal to them, and that I'm just being whiny. Or I am remind them of what they don't have. Either way that works, I'd feel bad.

So with this phobia of losing senses comes a great sense of intrigue and guilt.

I have arachnophobia, sometimes just a picture of a spider is enough to make me uncomfortable. The sight of a real spider sort of makes me "shut down" I can't move, my mind goes blank and I'm absolutely paralyzed with fear. I can rationalize that they're overall harmless but that doesn't help, I still have terrible nightmares about them and the idea of one crawling around in my room is enough to keep me awake at night. I'm thinking of seeing a specialist about it to find a way to control my phobia but I have to have the time and money first.

I'm also afraid of heights but not quite as badly and it doesn't really give me any issues.

I have a small fear of needles{Trypanophobia}, though I can usually overcome it, and a fear of heights{Acrophobia}, though that can be overcome at times too, usually if I'm having fun in the situation, or if I'm being distracted.

My biggest one though is Sedatephobia. A fear of silence. There always has to be some noise, like music or the TV, or I'll start to panic. It's the same in a group of friends, or a classroom. If everyone falls silence, I have to cause some type of noise, like backing up my chair to make that shrill squeaking noise or tapping my feet.
Going along with that, I also have Autophobia. The fear of being alone. Which is made even worse due to my bad social skills.

I don't know when or why the last two came along though the Sedatephobia seriously hurt my grades, due to iPods not being allowed, and everyone having to be quiet.

I'm all right with needles, have always said jokingly that I love vaccinations with friends. But of course if its an oversized long needle or a needle having to go into my eye that would be a whole different story.

I also have something like autophobia I don't mind being alone sometimes if need be and I'd also like to be left alone sometimes but I just hate to do things by myself. For example walking down a hall or something of the sort alone, I am more self conscious while with another person I am fine.

I'm also great with quiet I prefer it to noise most of the time, maybe because here people are really loud in my classes, I find it really hard to concentrate with noise and find my self very distracted when constant jabber is happening all around and I despise snoring with a passion.

I have a fear for certain insects especially cockroaches, centipedes, moths, those creepy butterflies with the eye looking wings(only those), big spiders when they are moving, anything that crunches when killed(that just creeps me out, I'm too scared to kill them) there might still be more as my experiences increase. Most things are fine with me as long as they're tiny and I know that they won't cause harm to me. I'm also not to the extreme of being very scared of being in the same room with one it's just kind of a thing that if I see one I have a jump scare and if it comes closer than a few meters to me I will leap on something to gain altitude so they can't reach me or run/quickly walk away depending if there are people around.

I have a friend who once saw a small spider on her bag, tried to get away from it then started to cry from the stress that seeing the spider induced. That really shocked me but also made me realise how different people are and how their comforts vary. The irony of the moment was that we were talking about systematic desensitization and during the previous week our psychology teacher had encouraged us to try it for ourselves.

Have any of you ever heard of or tried systematic desensitization or flooding to get rid of a fear?

(I know I haven't read most of the replies on this thread but I think most of you might have done something similar to systematic desensitization without knowing. Transcendence is a good example of the technique and working it into your everyday life as she is slowly getting exposed to needles and becoming more comfortable with them as you get more exposed. Or maybe it was closer to flooding depending if you were thrown into a room with needles and told that you had to work with them all in one go.)

referring to a post about a butterfly phobia very early on in the thread, I have to say that they are indeed the devil's own creatures, ughhhhh.

However, I also have a severe (but getting better, could't have been much worse) phobia of needles, to the point where I'd pass out and have seizures if I had to have a blood test or anything, to the point where they wouldn't do it.

I'm also terrified of the dark, and I still sleep with the light on at 21 years old... Embarrassed

Phobias are odd little things, aren't they?

I'm older than you are, Amaris and I CAN NOT fall asleep without some form of light on. Sweat It's not so much that I'm afraid of the dark as it is that I can't get comfortable unless I know I can see everything going on in a place...if that makes any sense at all....

My phobia?

Crowds, like literally a phobia here. I'm a generally calm person, you put me in the center of a crowd.......It comes in phases. First I start to feel faint and dizzy, next I either faint or I vomit. The I get violent or I cry.

I have a minor fear/phobia of fog and crowds. Fog, though, might be from when I was younger. Watching my step father place the silent hill game for the ps2. It scared the hell out of me. I couldn't even look outside when it was foggy, let alone go outside without getting terrified. Now, it just seems to flare up my anxiety. It's not as bad as it used to be, but, still, it isn't in the slightest bit fun. :c
