What's your music genre?

I myself cannot plant it down to one.. but looking at the music I like, I guess I'd have to break it down as such.

I have a hard time categorizing my taste. It's not so much a legitimate genre that I like as a series of qualities. I look for a high level of complexity and originality in everything I listen to. I also am a sucker for good instrumentation, and I have a few favorite instruments, namely banjo and violin. So needless to say, I love folk and bluegrass. I also listen to a good deal of experimental, blues rock, and post-hardcore.

I'm another who varies in music taste, but my preferences tend to stem towards world music more. I listen to a lot of Japanese and Italian things, and have been known to listen to some Russian too.

In general, though, I can usually find at least one thing I like by almost any band. I'm mostly fond of rock, pop, r&b and jazz though (and, again, world music). I think the only music type I'm not excessively interested in at all is rap.

My favorite genres are rock, alternative, symphonic metal, and indie.

Symphonic metal is awesome, isn't it? I don't tend to hear people mention it, but it's super neat! <3

Rock! Grunge, alternative, and hard rock. Especially bands like Nirvana and ACDC. Some metal, like Metallica and Disturbed. Just to name a few well known bands.
But I like artists whose music I can sing with, too. So, really mellow, acoustic sounding songs. A less favorite, but good example being Jason Mraz's I Won't Give Up... Not the best, but it works...
I like a wide range of music, though. Just about anything that isn't rap or too country-ish.
Most of the music today kinda sucks, unfortunately /: I really prefer the older stuff. Can't go wrong with Steven Tyler, Kurt Cobain, Trent Reznor, Robert Plant, and, of course, Freddie Mercury... in my opinion.

I like a lot of things, but I have to say my favorite types are dance pop, techno, k-pop, j-pop, j-rock, mainly upbeat stuff I like some rap too, but it depends on the rapper. Also indie stuff is great, and it seems like the lesser-known they are, the better they are. xD

My favorite genre has always been alternative rock. Though I like rock, post-rock and indie has recently invaded my playlist.

Depending on my mood I listen to certain things more. Right now I'm on a Celtic binge.

I also have a weakness for terrible pop music. You know - boy bands, dance club soundtracks, most things that are played on the radio. It's kind of a guilty pleasure.

I will usually listen to anything depending on my mood. I can't tolerate any rap or country though.

I like a wide range of things I guess.

I like mostly Heavy Metal/Power Metal/Pagan Metal/Hard Rock.
But then I like Disney soundtracks and some movie soundtracks, game soundtracks, classical.

Occasionally techno and dance, I really have to be in the mood for that though...

I also like a little rap I guess. Mostly Eminem.

I dislike Indie and 99% of Pop.

My personal favourite genres are folk, pop, and rock. I really like pretty much anything acoustic, too.
