Dhampir Arcane - Recruiting

I'm an avid roleplayer on several forums and instant messengers. I'm a bit of a grammar nazi, and will RP mostly anything.

If you want to know what I accept and what I don't, just ask (but be specific, I can't think of all my 'Do's and Don'ts' at once) and I'll tell. Recently though, I've been wanting to do something fantasy-ish, something epic like a once great roleplay I did years ago on Gaia Online.

And what would this epic one you did on Gaia be like?

My memory of it is hazy on details since it occurred several years ago, but I remember the basic plot points.

It takes place in the kingdom called Dhampir Arcane (named for the half-vampires who founded it), where humans, dragons, vampires (they aren't truly vampires in this case, but are a kind of superhuman race), werewolves, etc. all live in the same place in a sense of harmony. The royal family is made up of vampires or vampire-human hybrids for generations. The vampire general Kaze takes over the throne of her beloved queen after said queen succumbed to an illness affecting only their vampire-esque race. Kaze meets a human named Emmott prior to the queen's death.

Kaze is first kidnapped by her former master Reinhardt, and Emmot, along with Maria, Kaze's shapeshifter maid, and Spicer, Emmott's cat, go to rescue her. Emmott is turned into a vampire during the rescue when he ingests Kaze's blood by accident. Reinhardt gets away.
Over the course of months, Emmott and Kaze fall in love. The queen of the castle also dies due to illness at this time.

Maria accidentally turns Emmott's cat Spicer into a human. At first he's angry with her for changing him, but eventually the two become friends since they are around each other frequently. Around this time, Emmott and Kaze give birth to a son named Vincent.

Things take a quieter turn as summer rolls around, and Spicer and Emmott are in charge of the Midsummer Ball to be held in the castle. The intent of the ball is really to reunite Kaze with her twin daughters, who she had with Reinhardt, but was forbidden to see after she ran away from him. During the course of the ball, Maria admits to Spicer that she has feelings for him, and he decides to give her a chance as his lover.

After the summer ends, dragons in a neighboring kingdom begin waging war against Dhampir Arcane due to people from the country killing the dragons' offspring. The leaders of the dragon country won't accept peace negotiations, so war is inevitable. Emmott and Spicer go off to war, with the latter realizing he never actually told Maria he felt love for her. Aboard the ship, the character Anberan, a lurid wyvern rider, is introduced as part of Emmott's squad. He is a rather lurid and battle-loving type, and is quick to express his love of shedding enemy blood. Though outside of battle, the boy is nice enough as a person.

The war goes on with both sides losing men until the very end, where the three most powerful dragons, the Blue General, the Red General, and the black dragon Queen Malicia herself, joining the fray. After successfully holding off the three forces at a mountain plateau, Emmott's battered soldiers face off against the Queen dragon's black dragon troops. Spicer is wounded and Anberan tries to fly him to safety, but a soldier's stray arrow strikes Spicer's helmet, knocking him off the wyvern and making him plunge to almost certain death on the jagged rocks below. Emmott witnesses this and mortally wounds the dragon queen. Seeing his example, his tired soldiers manage to get up the morale to slaughter the remaining black dragons. After the battle, the battered troops leave the scene, and Anberan apologizes to Emmott, telling him he tried to save his friend as best he could (he actually did try, but his wyvern couldn't catch Spicer). As the others leave, Anberan delivers the deathblow to Queen Malicia, who calls him a traitor. He simply replies "I love you too, Mother." before leaving with the others.

Meanwhile, Kaze learns that Maria is several months pregnant with her and Spicer's child. When Emmott returns from war, they tell him this, and he expresses his sorrow to Maria. When she learns that Spicer is dead, she is so overcome with grief that she can barely retain her sanity. She does hold on, though, until the birth of her daughter Diana.

Unbeknown to everyone, Spicer is indeed alive, if terribly wounded. The residents of a small village take him in and nurse him to health, and give him the name Dafydd. After healing from his wounds, Spicer begins the long trek back to Dhampir Arcane.

Just before he arrives back, though, Maria disappears. Kaze and Emmott search relentlessly for her, but cannot find her. When Spicer arrives back, he is at odds with how to react, even though everyone is happy to see him alive. He meets his daughter, and is overjoyed upon seeing her, but resolves that he cannot truly be happy about her birth until Maria is there to celebrate their child with him.

Finally, they catch a break when one of Reinhardt's wives, Safie, arrives at the castle. She states that Maria is with her husband, and he's made her into pretty much a mindless slave in order to use her shapeshifting abilities for his own advantage. Hearing this, Kaze, Emmott, Spicer, and Anberan all follow Safie to Reinhardt's abode to rescue Maria.

Unfortunately, my roleplaying partner and I didn't get far enough to do the final battle before our interests went elsewhere outside of Gaia. The ending would have had Reinhardt killed, his wives released to their own lives, Kaze's daughters would return to her care, and Maria would be taken back. Anberan would leave them at that point to travel the world in search of more soldier work since he cannot bear to be away from the battlefield too long. The epilogue would have Diana and Vincent as young children playing while Kaze remarked how troubling being a Queen is.

A sequel was planned for it as well, and it involved Kaze succumbing to the same vampire-specific disease that killed her earlier queen. She doesn't die, but she is still incredibly ill and cannot rule efficiently. A much older Diana and Vincent travel to the kingdom of dragons, where a new, more benevolent dragon king is in charge, in order to find a cure for the disease and save Kaze and the rest of her kind from dying from it in the future.

There was also a side story I had wanted to do with it involving Maria's sister Tetra, who is also a shapeshifter. Her story was basically her traveling the world until she runs into a dark elf named Ryldaxle. Ryldaxle is a fugitive from his home, a large underground dark elf city, who escaped to the surface because his family was all but destroyed. Tetra offers him the chance to travel with her so he can become used to the world above. At first he is abrasive to her, but eventually the two become friends over their travels.

What I was planning was a kind of reboot of the series, only with different characters replacing the original cast and different scenarios. Basically, I suppose it was something with similar settings but with different plots and people.

So, if you have any ideas to add to it, I'd be happy to hear them. It's easier to make a roleplay and carry it through if both parties contribute ideas and such.

Seems this has opened up and probably for the better.

Have a few questions for you on your shapeshifter race; would they be able to take the form of animals? If so I might have a rather fun loving and off balance character to add to the mix.

Shapeshifters can become any animal they choose, but they naturally have to have seen the animal before, whether in person or by use of illustration, first.

Two shifters is okay as long as we get more people of differing races later on.
