| Hey Effers! ^^
Err... alright, let's see what I can't whip up...
The woods were quiet, the uncharacteristic respite of the wilderness easing the young mage as he sat down to rest. His body was spent, his breath haggard, as the taxing resolve he had just exhibited drained him completely.
Looking downwards to the ground, the crimson-haired mage slowly gazed the still corpse of a bear, its ferocity very real a few short seconds ago. He knew that, had he made a single error, he would've been the one on the ground, not the massive animal.
His eyes slowly drifted back down to himself, as he noticed his now tattered robes stained with the grit of his encounter. "This is the last place a new graduate mage should be..." His tone was somber, but still steady, and he reached into his satchel, searching for a flask of water to calm his nerves.

| Hey Mav. ^^
How do I compete?
With an awesome character of course!
Tithe flitted about, going to investigate large noises she had heard nearby that sounded like a very very angry bear. Silvery, jewelry dragonfly wings buzzed behind her, white-streak black hair tied back loosely with a silken spider web.
Her eyes were determined, although they looked eerie, only being one color. A deep, dark blackness. Matchstick limbs that seemed too jointed and gangly to be anything but Fae were held close to her sides, her tiny fingers looking like incredibly small snails curled up in her fists.
With skin a pale green color, she looked nightmarish, large pointed ears and a thin face making it even more so.
She finally reached where she heard the noises, and looking around, saw a human.
A human? Here? She got closer. "Hello!" she said, her small voice barely audible.

| The odd voice distracted the young mage from his drink, and he cautiously looked around for the source. These woods weren't exactly known for their hospitality, and the source of the voice could've been anything. However, his eyes soon focused on the minute figure standing in front of him, and he relaxed his body slightly.
Of course, that was only for a moment. If his studies had taught him anything, it was that anything of magical nature could be harmful... and the Fae were definitely of magical nature. With hesitance in his voice, the young mage slowly responded.
"Um... Hi?"

| She sat down on his leg, looking up at him.
"Tithe Spiderflaw. Nice to meet you." she said with a sharp-toothed smile.
She then looked at the bear, and then at him, and then the bear again. When she looked up, she looked slightly confused.
"Did you kill that bear all by yourself? And, I'm not like, upset or anything. He was grumpy. But, I'm impressed. Most people wouldn't be able to take on the meanest, most rabid bear in a two mile radius and live."

| Though the young man was still a bit disorientated, he knew his mind was still intact. Which, unfortunately, meant that he was now face to face with a slightly eccentric Fae that he could hardly follow. Still, he tried his best, and after a few seconds, was able to piece together her speech.
"Erm... Nice to meet you Tithe. I'm Gale R'venawl." He almost made an effort to shake her hands, before he realized that the small fairy could hardly accomplish such a task. Instead, he tilted his head slightly in greeting, before speaking again.
"I don't think he was rabid... but thanks for the complement...?"

| "Wonderful to meet you, Gale." Tithe said, slowing her speech down after seeing he couldn't quite understand her.
"He was quite rabid. Has been for a year. I can't remember how many times he's swatted me right out of a tree for no reason. He was fine up until he got in a fight with a large wolf. Downright gentlemanly, as a bear can somehow be. Anyways..." She said, reflectively. "The forest has changed....it never was this bad. Never in all my years."
She looked up. "What brought you out here, Gale?"

| The Fae's words, while rapid and barely understandable, still made some sense. Though he was relatively isolated in the Magic Academy, he had heard some news about this forest, as well as in other parts of the world. Starting a few years back, much of the area deemed the "Wilderness" was once just a beautiful and expansive world. Of course, as he witnessed a few moments ago, such was no longer the case.
"Yeah..." The mage could do little but agree, trailing off slightly before snapping his attention back to answer her question. "Oh, I was out here gathering herbs. One of the shops were in short supply, and with the rise in incidents, they hired the Mage's guild to help out."

| "Oh, so your a mage, are you?" she asked after listenging to him quietly. She clapped her hands together. "Herbs? Really? Thats one of my specialities. That and some of the worlds most magical items. But more on that later.
She looked up at Gale. "Want any assistance?"

| Gale answered the small sprite, though his reaction was hardly the enthusiastic and proud exclamation one would expect. "Yes, I am, though I've only just joined last week." After all, it was hard to feel pride when one had barely done anything.
He turned back to Tithe, smiling lightly at her offer. "No, it's fine. I've already gathered as much as I need to. Thank you for the offer, though." As he finished this sentence, though the young man furrowed his eyebrows. Something was bothering him, and he spoke his concerns. "Out of curiosity... What happened here? I mean, something must be wrong; you're the first Fae I've encountered during the two days I've been here."

| "We....don't know." She told him after a moment of thought. "A lot of the fea's have been disappearing, or turning up dead. And it's very hard to kill a fea, so alot of us have been staying more near to the center of power instead of leaving to try and perserve ourselves."
She sighed. "I would have stayed too, but the things I need are so hard to get where there are no people."

| He grew more concerned at Tithe's words, as he knew full well that fairies were very... stubborn. "Disappearing? What do you mean?"
His mind slightly wandered, though, as he took in her next statement. "What things do you need?" The mage was slowly growing less cautious of the small sprite. Perhaps it was because of her demeanor, or maybe her willingness to talk about sensitive issues, but he found himself starting to trust the young Fae.
That, and she didn't outright attack him, which was drastically different from everything else he had met in the forest so far.

| "Poof, gone! Never to be seen again. Just, disappeared." Tithe responded sadly, pulling her small knees up and tucking her chin into them.
Tithe was more outgoing than most fea's, actually talking to a human. Usually, her race tried to avoid any creature bigger than them, which was almost everything and everyone.
"A lot of things. I take scraps of cloth, change from couches. Ever think you put something down and suddenly can't find it? That's me. Some people think rats do it. So the affectionate term between Fae's is Pack Rats. I also sometimes take hair when people sleep. You humans have wonderful shades for that."

|
| He heard the solemn tone on the Fae's voice, and were it not for the fact that he was much bigger than he, Gale might've patted her on her shoulder. As it stands, though, he had no real way to comfort her.
"So you're the reason why I lost one of projects and had to redo it?" He said, half jokingly, trying to cheer the small Fae up.

| Her mouth twitched slightly. "Actully......yes. A green stone attached to a bunch of wires, about the size of a fingernail? With a stack of notes and things nearby? That was me and my best friend Scorch." She took a deep breath, sobbing slightly. "He was one of the first to go."

|
| That backfired spectacularly... The mage slowly leaned down, as he gently ran his index finger along the Fae's back, mindful of her small size. "I'm sorry... I didn't mean to bring that up..." Gale sighed softly, as he could hardly even begin to imagine what Tithe felt at this moment.
"Let's... try to talk about something else... Are you hungry?" The young man slowly reached into his pouch, as he took out a piece of bread preserved in a layer of pure magic. Slowly dissipating the field, he then tore off a small piece, offering it to the young Fae.
