Oh no no, it's fine.
I'd have to dig again, but there's no one specific that comes to mind. I haven't browsed dA in over a year and a half.

With the site getting more and more busy, I wouldn't be surprised if it either got a little better, or a more common occurrence.

Oh I see fair enough. My problem is that I would like to see some new stuff but I don't know what to search really, and anything I do search doesn't really come up with anything overly original...I guess that's just dA's main flaw.

I don't have a problem with DA but I have heard that they were not really helpful if you wanted to advice on work. I looked around the some good art community sites and came across paperdemon.com. That is a good site for advice. You maybe not get it on all your all but they are friendly and helpful. I also have a website b/c I needed one to graduate. So its got my sketches and school work on it. Unfortunately its one of those free sites since i don't know coding.

@applejuice81 that's cool I might try paperdemon.com. Also I know what you mean about coding I used freewebs, but then kind of forgot about it XD

Paperdemon is definitely a nice site. I trying to learn CSS or coding but its all confusing doing it by yourself. I may have to take a class from it.

I did have a look at paperdemon and although I found the search a lil' confusing it does seem like a really good site. What's art theft like on that site, like how often does it happen, or is it the same as everywhere?

I really wish I could make my own website. I think if I did I would seriously only use DA to upload teasers. But alas I have no coding knowledge and i refuse to just use some premade crappy layout from some place online.

I personally like www.wix.com . They're a free flash website maker, and you don't have to use any code. Also, you can make your own layout with the builder, so you don't have to use any cheaply made template. I'm using it for my website now.

I don't mind dA. I have one, and I post all of my art there. I've met some really great people there, and a lot of them are super talented. And after all, nobody said it was supposed to be a formal art site. It's just supposed to be an art community, where you could post your art and meet new people. Sure it's gotten big, but that obviously means that it's a decent site. I understand where you all are coming from, but like. I don't know how to word this. Okay, someone mentioned that they've only seen one truly good painter or something? I've found many many professional photographers and painters on there. dA is simply a way to save money on website costs. I would love to have my own website, but I know for a fact that I would get absolutely no hits. Just because of dA and the fact that it's right there, where everyone could see your work, and comment without having to actually find your webpage.
I will agree that dA has some of the worst policies. Like the whole tracing issues that a lot of people have been trying to get banned; they basically said that it was okay, because it was a 'learning tool'.

yeah I completely understand what you are saying, but I'm not sure about saving money, like you need a subscription to get decent crit right now. It is a very good idea to have the feature but I don't agree with the fact that you have to pay for it. The only reason I am there is to improve, but I can't afford a subscription, to get crit, you can't even click the encourage advance crit in your comments any more. I also realise what you are saying about owning your own site, but the upside of having your own site, I think is that you have complete control, which dA understandably will never have.
Thank you for the contribution to the discussion. Smile

I understand what you mean, but you don't NEED a sub to get crit. You could just ask for it. ^^ I have a sub, I won't lie, but I've never used the crit feature. I just simply ask for it. I agree about the site thing, though.

yeah I always ask for crit but tbh you are more likely to gain it with the new feature, that's mostly what annoys me. XD

About the art theft on paperdemon, I don't know. I have not really heard anything about it. I still fairly new to paperdemon.
