Was wondering how to increase my skills such as theft, and mining?

The only skill that can be increased is forge as everything else has been disabled(though I plan on releasing more skills in the future), and you must repair weapons to be able to upgrade it.

Was theft disabled for the same reason as charm?(People could steal from the temple of gold with a high enough theft skill level?)

No, it was remove because a glitch that can be abused was discovered.
