Clarence's back was aching, and his knee throbbed with every step, but he felt more alive than he had in years. The heat and humidity made him sweat buckets, but it also made him feel more energetic. He veritably skipped down the hill until he found the river.

The airplane had landed in the river and was half submerged, creating a spray of water that crashed against the metal tube with surprising volume.

"So," he said quietly, rubbing his gnarled hands together. "Food and shelter. Twenty bucks says this river has fish, and a cave within walking distance. Eh?"

Harlan, as a scout, was scouting. She quickly disappeared into the thick forestry, losing sight of the captain but still keeping the woman in hearing distance. Admittedly, hearing distance for Harlan and hearing distance for other people were two very different distances. Still, she kept close. There were signs of movement recently; leaves moving restlessly, a change in the river's noise, and the smell of...

Harlan's head turned as she heard words in a language she didn't speak, farther along the slope, then footsteps much closer, then a rustle as someone dove into the bushes. Silently, she snuck toward the bush, and spotted Metalshade, also eyeing it.

Quick as a snake, Harlan reached into the bush and grabbed the person hiding. She pulled, yanking the young man out of the shrubbery, and held him firmly by the back of the neck.

"Atlantean," Harlan noted, taking in the clothing and gear. No off-islander would have that sort of thing. It was also plain that he was not a member of the guard; far too young. Most of the time, when caught outside the city walls, a kid was given a slap on the wrist or a scare, but under current circumstances, Harlan wondered if Metalshade would think something more severe was called for.

Tavie had just stuffed everything back into his bag and shuffled along silently with the rest of their group, unsure of what to say. He'd considered offering the pain medication that had been in his bag, in case anyone needed it, but he didn't want to interrupt and make them stop more than they had to. If anyone really needed it, they'd say something, right? Everyone seemed to be in one piece and relatively okay, at least.

When they reached the river, Zytavion tried not to react to what Clarence, who seemed to be practically frolicking like a little kid in the not-so-wonderful-feeling wilderness, had said about the fish. He'd never liked fish, although he wasn't actually allergic. But this was a survival situation, and now was not the time to be picky. But at least things seemed to be relatively abundant here, not like they'd crashed into the middle of the ocean with nothing but fish and salt water or anything.

Wait...He thought he'd heard something in a bush nearby, and froze. "Atlantean." Okay whatever that was it most definitely was a person speaking, and it most definitely wasn't English. Backing slowly toward the group (and away from the sounds) he murmured just loud enough to hear, "Uh, I don't think we're alone, folks."

((Time to get the two parties together, don't ya think?))

Tamsin tried to follow the two guards closely, but she could tell she was lagging a bit. It wasn't often she went traipsing through the woods, after all. When they came to a stop at the bush and pulled out the younger Atlantean boy, she scowled at him but didn't say anything. Had the idiot not seen the announcement posts specifically saying NOT to go into the woods?

Pulling out a small screen she'd had tucked into one of her pockets, she began scanning the woods with a thermal detector. After turning almost a full circle, she paused. The screen showed a group of several people standing not too far off, next to the river. Reaching out toward Nyx, she flapped her hand slightly to get her attention before gesturing in the direction the screen was showing. "What now? Do I just walk up and say something?" She asked quietly, suddenly very nervous. She'd never actually done this before for real, just in practice with no threat of people freaking out or attacking or something.

Nyx glared through her goggles at the boy. Though you couldn't really see it. "You will be dealt with later and quite harshly I might add young man. For now there are more pressing matters which you will make yourself useful for." She said hoping her tone had given just the right amount of exasperation at the current outcome. The last thing they needed was someone that couldn't be useful if they needed him to be.

She noticed Tamsin trying to get her attention and looked in the direction she pointed nodding when her own goggles displayed the group of people. "We don't want to scare them so walking up and just saying hello is a bit unorthodox. However we should let our presence be known." Nyx said after a few seconds of thought to the question asked of her.

Daniela began to nod in response to Clarence when the younger kid spoke. She frowned, looking around. "What makes you say that?" She hadn't heard or seen anything.

She glanced around, hoping that this cave Clarence was hoping for was nearby, but she saw nothing. Maybe they could use the remnants of the plane as shelter if it was a wild animal...

Wayke yelped as he was pulled from his stupid hiding place, his eyes widening in fear when he saw two intimidating guards and admittedly, one guard who looked like she more belonged in a library or something. Still, she was scowling at him pretty angrily.

"I-I'm sorry, I just...I had a day off," he stammered lamely. He knew it likely made no sense to the guards, and was no excuse but it was the only thing he could think of to say.

He heard the guards talking about "them" and wondered if it was the people he'd heard earlier. Now that he thought about it, why had he thought it was the guards? It wasn't a language he could identify, although it sounded slightly familiar.

"Who are you looking for?" he blurted out before he could stop himself.
