You guys have some pretty interesting phobias.

I got over discomfort with public speaking in college, and needles 3 years ago when I had surgery. (Getting IV's all the time kinda helps XP).

The only thing I'd avoid out of discomfort (not necessarily a phobia) is Styrofoam. Even holding the stuff makes me wince, it feels weird. Even if it's not doing it's squeaky weird thing, I CAN FEEL IT WITH MY HAND. Guh Duh

As for a real fear. I'd have to say death. Most people ignore it, come to terms with it, or just don't wanna die but aren't necessarily "scared" of it. When I was younger, I'd try to imagine dying right as I went to bed X_x
Since I'm not exactly the most faithful person in my family, it basically ended in my, trying to imagine not existing. Like, a void, like trying to deconstruct myself. Imagining if I didn't exist, from my perspective. It's hard to grasp to say the least.

Took me a few years to adapt to that, but by my late teens I pretty much figured out how to tune that train of thought out. The fear is still there, I just don't ponder over it like I used to.

I have a food phobia which has developed over the years.

Basically I have a really really crap gag reflex, a lot of different textures or smells or even sights (I have a lot of birds, cleaning them out... bleh) make me feel sick, and sometimes even be sick.

So over the years my brain has decided all of these things are evil for making me sick, especially on the food side of things.. Trying anything new actually scares me and most of the time I just wont do it anymore. It means my diet is really limited, but the worst thing for me is when people just call me fussy. I am NOT fussy, if I could change how I am I definitely would, I'd love to try more food.. Especially mums food, it looks and smells awesome but I still can't eat it.

Only other fear I've had is the dark... Or to be more precise, the orange streetlights you get on at night. Almost every nightmare I had as a child was outside, in the dark, with those creepy orange lights just barely illuminating things.... I had a lot of nightmares as a kid.

I'm nowhere near as bad now, but I still don't trust those orange lights..

I did use to think about death far too much, especially as I don't have a modicum of religion in me so as far as I'm concerned when you're dead you're just... dead.. No offence meant to anyone religious... I'm not as bad now but that's probably because of the anti-depressants <<;

I have a few minor fears, but the only major phobia is the fear of heights, or more specifically, being in a precarious position. I can stand on the first few steps of a ladder, but not on one of the top three steps. I can look out the window of a plane, but not over the handrail of a first-storey platform.

Other than that, I'm slightly perturbed by a lot of things; open spaces, creepy plants, crowds... but I have no problem with spiders, snakes, or clowns. And since I'm photosensitive, I love the dark.

I also love the dark, but I'm also kinda scared of spiders. *shudder* But I also fear socialising in real life, because I've been hurt before and don't want it to ever happen again. I'm also afraid of death; when I was being bullied at primary school, I considered suicide but ultimately decided not to out of fear of the pain of actually killing myself.
