i typically do it to songs that i dont like to whatever im thinking about at the time. i hear songs i dont like often at work, trying to come up with other lyrics on the spot is how i enjoy them. it could be about anything, from penis jokes to boiling water. i never remember what i say lol. sometimes i do it to songs that i do like though.

our cat knocked down a jar i temporarily have some bamboo in a few times to drink its water, what a jerk. she messed up some of the leaves. she usually asks us for stuff. and she only drinks one time out of her water, princess. i made a song about it to the tune of carmen:
ayame ayame
doesnt have her water,
knocking plants down cos she wants to wet her pout
it's annoying, purposely destroying everything
water on the ground,
leaves are ripped, soggy socks
she says nya nya nya nowawa

you guys should try it sometime! it can be fun.

You mean filking? I'm not much good at it myself. I do enjoy much of what Weird Al Yank makes though. He is very old school but it used to be considered an honor to have him corrupt one of your songs. I'd suggest looking him up and giving him a listen.

This one is good - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hEcjgJSqSRU

no, it has nothing to do with science fiction. weird al makes parodies, i guess what i do is closer to parodies but some of the songs i'm not mocking, whereas im simply singing about the task i'm currently doing.

Does mishearing the lyrics count? XD

My uncle's better with parodies than I am.
I can't make stuff rhyme to save my life, which is why most songs/making parodies of never tends to work well for me...

*giggle* Mum once rewrote 'Kids in America' until it was about my county of Lincolnshire, England. Chorus goes:
We're the kids in Lincolnshire! (Ooh, arh!)
We're the kids in Lincolnshire! (Ooh, arh!)
Everybody lives for the Tulip Parade!

It's quite ridiculous. And much later, she rewrote the Blues Brothers 'Soul Man' to 'Crow Man'. Because my Dad, for several months, ended up followed by crows wherever he went. He'd leave the house and there'd be crows on every aerial and on the playground opposite us. He'd leave his work to go home via car and every car would have a pigeon on it...except hi. His would have a crow. He's the crow man!

There's actually a word for misheard lyrics, words, and phrases. It's called 'mondegreen'.

I've done this a lot, but it's hard to recall any of them 'cos it's more a spur of the moment thing depending on what I'm doing, rather than something I plan to remember...

Like earlier, I can just about remember singing something when I couldn't find the sieve.
Coffee and TV is the original but mine went;

I cannot find my bloody sieve,
It's hiiiiddeeeen,
Either that or I'm going blind,
And it's right in frooont of meee~

It's not where it should be,
It's annoooyiiing,
I wished I lived all on my own,
So I knew where my shit waaaas,

And I could have my damn fooood~

Genius... Obviously... Neutral

kimi, no :P i fail at rhyming on the spot too. i dont think it has to, though it's more fun to try to.

kathira, lol crow man! your mother has a cute sense of re-righting lyrics, so it seems. one time there was a whole murder of crows, roughly 20 birds outside my dads house, all over the front lawn but not on the neighbors lawn. theres no fence dividing the two. i told my little brother to look and they all left, it was awkward, i felt like a crazy lady who sees things.

pikmin, maybe we should carry around a recorder :P i forget the words i say three minutes after i say them lol. i think i've made some clever ones though. i have a hunch, if i could record them and listen to them a few days later, they might actually turn out to be lame lol.

though i'm not familiar with the original, i think what youve posted is clever Happy

lol thanks :3 I just love music so I sing a lot, and I've always loved words (probably a bit weird) so I enjoy messing around with them all~
I'm fairly sure I made a song about Pepsi once but I don't remember it :c

What does the Cox say?

Big Brown eyes,
Hipster rims,
Chasing Girls,
And filling holes.
Q, Q, Q
In Your Face,
Suddenly you’re all dead.

And I'll be the only one to understand that mess. Weeeee

Actually that one sounds pretty straight forward. I'm just not sure if that is a good or bad thing yet Sweat

Of course fickle did say in her first post that kind of song was acceptable.

Well, I just made this for my Werewolves game...

Reika the rednosed werewolf!
Had some very bloody claws!
And if you ever saw her!
You would have to lock your doors!

All of the other villagers!
Ran around and screamed in fear!
They kept away from Reika!
And hoped she'd only eat their deer!

Then one dark and dreary night
Reika came to say
'Villagers, you are so tasty!
You didn't lock your doors tonight!'

Reika the rednosed werewolf!
Stuffed herself with so much food!
There's no more villagers!
To taunt and starve poor Reika!

My dad and I do that all the time. Usually involving childish jokes and/or scary imagery into it, even if it's a lullaby. Oh and I had a friend that did a really neat take on On Top of Old Smokey with me once.

"On top of old Smokey~
All covered with blood~
I lost my true lover-
Because he just wouldn't stop poking me! >:O"

At primary school (elementary), we used to sing another version (long post is long):

On top of spaghetti,
all covered in cheese,
I lost my poor meatball
when somebody sneezed.

It rolled off the table,
and onto the floor,
and then my poor meatball
rolled out of the door.

It rolled into the garden,
and under a bush.
By then my poor meatball
was nothing but mush.

The mush was as tasty
as tasty could be,
and early next summer
turned into a tree.

The tree was all covered
in beautiful moss.
It grew lovely meatballs
in tomato sauce.

So if you have spaghetti,
all covered in cheese,
hold on to your meatball,
and don't ever sneeze!

I don't even know all the original lyrics; I learnt this one first!
