Just throwing my two cents in. If I am not mistaken, the battle portion of this site is based off of the Dungeons & Rabbits modification for the PHPBB forum software. I've used the battle system on a site before, and so am pretty familiar with the coding behind it. The coding can be extremely confusing, though. It took me months to really get the hang of it the first time around!
The only complaint I have is the broken images; like somebody else mentioned before, a regen option isn't always available in commercial games like final fantasy. You only regain health like that when you use a save sphere for many games, and this isn't really any different; you have to visit the temple to regain health. Not that big of a difference.
And while it can be hard to make images, there are plenty of members around the site who are good with computer images; perhaps a contest is in order? Maybe the person to make the best monster image for a specific type of monster gets awarded a certain amount of silver, or gold, or even copper? Or maybe they get a rare item - maybe even an old event item that is no longer available in the shops?

Indeed, ADR is not only confusing it is very old and not up to par with what "could be", sadly. So you say you have experience with ADR? Does that include programming for it? I'm not all too experienced with programming in general, but I know enough to patch a few things up here and there. xP
And yes, we've just recently gotten most of the monster images fixed up thanks to Killerkitty. Making sure everything is fixed and well polished is something we're trying really hard for, but more work still needs to be done.
Thanks again to everyone who has posted feedback in here. It's all being taken into consideration, and we're trying very hard to get things going! If there's any more you'd like to say, we will gladly listen to it. |
It's been a while since I've used the ADR system; like you mentioned, it's a fairly old one. However, if I had a chance to glance at it again I'm sure it wouldn't take me very long to refresh my memory. I'm fairly well versed in PHP programming in general, so learning the system was a bit easier for me than for, say, somebody with little to no background in the programming language.
Back when I was considering creating a forum a lot liek Midorea I really got into the system extensively; I lost all my hard work - and the script - when I couldn't pay for the hosting bill any more, though
Even just thinking about it for a moment now, I'm remembering a lot of the little bits and pieces that gave me trouble back when I was learning the system. Luckily, a lot of the problems somebody new to the system would end up having I have already gotten past. If you need any help with some of the coding, let me know. I'd be more than happy to lend a hand .gif)
