"Ehhh... more like unconscious." Sydney said with a sigh.

"I... kinda snapped on him. Ended up kicking him quite hard." she told him.

"I know I shouldn't have, but... " She trailed off, not sure what else to say.

He blinked a couple of times, before looking to Sydney.

"Mercy..." he said to her.

"What on earth did he do to deserve that?" he asked.

Sydney sighed before relaying what had transpired before she had kicked her son hard enough to knock him unconscious. She didn't spare anything, even her statement of how Vincent was the one man she loved.

"... And that's what pissed Jaden off. The fact that I referred to you as the only one..." She told him.

"As far as I'm concerned, Isaac is dead. It'd be better if he was, than if he was a deadbeat dad that took off, anyway."

Vincent sighed silently after she explained the situation, and how she felt about Isaac.

"Sydney..." he said, patting the side of the bed.

"Come lay down... please?"

Sydney looked up at him, since she'd looked away through her little spiel, tear tracks evident on her face.

"I... " She started before sighing slightly and making her way over and laying next to him.

Once she was laying next to him, he held her close and rubbed her back gently.

"Sydney... I know it's rough for you." he told her.

"But don't worry, if nothing else, I'll always be here for you."

She was silent as he rubbed her back for a few minutes before she sighed.

"Vincent, stop. You're not in the best of shape. Just rest, alright?" She asked.

"Or go home and rest. Whether it's here or there, I don't care. You just need to let your blood replenish."

He smiled at her softly.

"Oh, Sydney. You never change." he told her, before kissing her on her forehead.

"And that's why I love you." he whispered.

"For now, you are correct, I should get some rest. Will you and Jaden be okay though?" he then asked.

"I will be." She told him honestly.

"At least Physically.... I don't know. I may have driven another rift between Jaden and I."

"All right then, Sydney." he replied, as he held her close.

"And don't worry... I'm sure things will be fine." he added.

-4 hours later-

Vincent had left, on Sydney's insistence, and she was now laying beside her son, when he stirred, finally.

'Ugn... wha?" he asked as he looked around.

"What happened? Is Vincent okay?" he asked further, noticing the man was not there.

Sydney didn't answer him, or anything, at first. It took a few seconds before she did, since she'd ended up almost asleep herself.

"Hmm? oh, yeah. I kicked him out. Sent him home so that he could get some rest." She told Jaden honestly.

"Look, Jaden, I'm sorry."

Jaden looked to her, and sighed, before shaking his head.

"No, it's my fault." he said.

"I egged you on about something you were clearly distraught about, but it was just because I was confident that you could save him. And I was right." he explained with a small smile.

"And besides... your relationship with dad really isn't my business, as I don't know him... well... at all." he added.

"I... Alright, before this turns into another 'I'm to blame, no I'm to blame' spiel, let's just say that both of us could have shown more maturity." Sydney said with a sigh.

"And no... you wouldn't know him. He vanished when you were only a couple of months old." She told him honestly.

"I'll... I'll tell you about him another time, if you so wish to know." She added.

He nodded and smirked.

"Sounds like a fair deal to me." he replied, before exhaling a bit.

"I'll ask... but for now, I'll keep quiet on it." he told her.

"For now... I'll just say this... I love you Mom." he added.

Sydney was silent, stunned that he actually said it. That had been the first time that he'd actually spoke those words to her. Then again, she'd never outright said it to him, either.

Without thinking about it, she just hugged him.

"I love you too Jaden, I always have." She said quietly.
