| Ok so I work in Bath and Body Works as seasonal. This is my first ever retail job. Well the other day I had asked this lady if she needed any help finding anything. She said no but she had a question..so I was like alright. She then asks me "Whats the difference between bubble bath and shower gel?" I was kinda caught off guard but replied, "You take a bubble bath with the bubble bath and you can wash all over with the shower gel." Because I honestly didn't know if thats what she meant or meaning price. She then replies, "Well, I know that." and then says "ok" and walks off. I was still in that daze of confusion and did she really just ask me that type of thing.
Have you ever had one of these moments?

| I work in retail too, and I have to answer stuff like that all the time.
Though when its external hard drives and portable hard drives, explaining the difference is important, but often more confusing than it should be for the customer. and I've had managers explain it wrongly.

| I work in fast food; people ask me stupid questions (yes, contrary to popular belief, I think they do, indeed exist.) all the time. I just have to shake my head and answer to the best of my ability. Now, for the most part, I can tollerate inane questioning and misunderstandings pretty well, as more-or-less an inherint part of the job. What I cannot stand, however, is when customers come by with some kind of an attitude and acting like I MUST be stupid because I work at a fast food place; thst just...makes me slightly homicidal. (Ok, not quit. But still....)

| Welcome to retail...and the top ten reasons I hated the last job I had. The part that killed me was I couldn't sass back an answer to a blatantly dumb questions.
I have had some questions that totally have stopped me and made me do a double take. More often then not they where over the phone as people always assume that you know instinctively what they are talking about and thus start rambling the moment you pick up. Either that there is an awkward pause as they try and figure out where they called.

| I used to work in a zoo, as well as volunteer at a wildlife sanctuary. I could not believe the stupidity of some of the guests. Some things, were fairly reasonable questions, if you've never had a childrens colored encyclopedia. Others made me just want to kill someone because they were beyond retarded. And yet, I got asked them all the bloody time!
"Oh! It's so cute! Where can I get one?" Are you serious? I just told you they don't make good pets.
"Does that make a good pet?" I just told you it could rip your arm off and beat you to death with it just because you looked at it funny. What do you think?
"Where do ligers/tigons come from?" They're a man made abomination of nature. They come from nowhere and should not exist.
"So, where do you give out the guns?" We're not that kind of place. ..... Security? (The guy thought that we were a trophy/cage hunting facility.)
I wasn't alowed to be snarky, rude, or insulting in my replies. So a lot of anger had a tendency to acumulate during an average day.

I used to work fast food and I totally agree with you there~
It really bothered me when they wanted me to fix things that were totally beyond my control too.
As for what this woman asked you, wow...on the one hand it makes me want to say really...but on the other as a consumer...I can sort of see why she may have asked you. I mean really is there some sort of difference in the products composition that makes one better than the other? Does one create a better lather than the other....maybe that's what she was getting at, and just couldn't get it into the proper words...[/color]

| Ah retail, isn't it wonderful?
Unless I'm going go be homeless I refuse to work in retail again. The people are rude to you, most of the questions that they ask you are stupid, and the management is a bunch of jerks.
Same with restaurants, don't work there either.
This is why I want to just have a nice office job where I do paperwork all day long.

| Well, I did use to work in retail in a fashion store, and one thing about me is that... I hate fashion. It just seems too much like a flock of sheep, all going out to wear the same thing some half-baked celebrity did.
So I'm in the store, tidying up all the shelves etc, and someone comes up to me and goes "What bag would go with these shoes, and do these shoes go with this jacket??" ...
I had no idea, so I picked one out that was the same colour as the shoes, and had some gold shiny bits on.
And she actually bought it..
I don't have that job any more anyway (was a christmas temp job) and I agree on not wanting to go into retail... It's really not suited to someone like me, being around people that much.
So stressy x.x
(Not that it matters what job I want now anyway, with England the way it is)

| I worked in fast food for my first job too. I was surprised but it was the best job experience. I've had other jobs but that's the job I compare all of my others after it to. It's kind of sad/funny if you think about it... xD;;;
Anyways, I don't think I was ever asked a dumb question but I have been treated poorly by people in all the jobs I've worked at. People think that they can be mean to you because they think you're never going to see them again or something. It's odd how many times you see that person who was mean to you again working such places though. =\
I don't like it when they think they're better than you just because you're working at a place that they think is lesser than them. If it's so low class then why do they bother going to such a place, you know what I mean...?
Whenever I go to the grocery store or fast food places or any retail places I'm always kind and courtesy I feel bad for people that have to work at all hours of the night or during the weekend I know what it's like so I don't give them any trouble. I just wish that some people would walk in others' shoes some times.

| I know your pain. D:
Fast food has been my job for the last four years, and sometimes, you just have to stare at people.
My biggest pet peeve is when they talk down to you, though. Hey, just because I work fast food, it doesn't mean I'm an idiot. There's just legitimately no other place for me to apply to work around here. My town's in between two of the biggest college cities, and is a big bus route...so it's always tough getting a job.
I think the best ones is when people ask for a cheeseburger with no cheese after staring at the value menu for 5 minutes. Hamburgers are RIGHT ABOVE THEM on the menu.

| HAHAHAHHA, I KNOW RIGHT!? xDDDD; Sometimes, I swear!
I just remembered something else that people asked me a lot when I was working at the grocery store. Old men usually would ask me this, "What's wrong with your face?" Yeah, I know real nice huh? And I always have to tell them, "My face has always looked like this..." with an irritated tone. =___=;;
I have had a red face for all my life and people usually old people ask me what's up with my face. I remember this had also happened when I was in 4th grade before too. A teacher stopped me in the hall way when I was going outside to wait for my bus if I felt ok and if I had gotten sunburned. -___________-;;;;;; And I had to explain as a child that that was just how my face was. It was a really annoying thing and it still is. =\
I don't like wearing makeup, so I guess if I covered it up then people wouldn't ask me about it so much. However, I can also get away with looking a lot younger than I actually am because of my face. Most people tend to think that I'm still in high school when in reality I'm 25. XDDDD;
(Sorry I felt like that got a little off topic-ish..?)
