~Cherish Hinakuluiau~
Description: Typically seen in a large wide-brimmed hat and a sundress, "Wet Witch" as bullies call her is a frail girl characterized by her timid nature and her short physical stature. She is about a head below average height, but her large hats typically make it more prominent. She has pale skin and cyan eyes. She is fairly easy to spot in a crowd, as under her hat it is always raining. How much and how hard it is raining depends entirely on her mood and how much she is paying attention to it. She considers herself unpopular because of her physically small stature and her quiet nature.

Abilities Description: Cherish's powers are entirely based on her manipulation and control over standing water. Because this is a supernatural ability she was born with, her strength is defined entirely by her focus and how much pain she is in.

Minor Power: Cherish can breathe life into a free standing body of water to make an elemental of living water under her control. The strength of the elemental is based on how much water is physically in the elemental (Jacuzzi Elemental > Glass of Water Elemental). The more water she is controlling, the harder it is to maintain control over her elemental(s), and she typically has difficulty commanding more than two at a time. Making an elemental from moving water is much more time consuming than standing water (standing water is essentially instantaneous), as she has to still a portion of the water with her own focus. If she loses control over her elementals, their power remains for a few hours or so after she loses control over it, in which it is rogue and blind to friend or foe.

Major Power: If Cherish is in a fight-or-flight situation or is worked up enough, she can release a torrent of her own energy in the form of a water-based cataclysm (usually a maelstrom, tsunami, typhoon, hailstorm, or frigid fog). She's only able to unleash this torrent of water energy if there is enough water to make it nearby (because of this, she typically makes fog, because it requires the least amount of water). Doing so also puts so much strain on her body that she will typically fall unconscious or lose any control over her powers for a few hours.

Note: Although both of her abilities are powerful, her balance comes from her frail nature and the drawbacks of her powers. If she ever gets in an actual fight, after she loses control she is essentially dead weight. She is unable to control more than three elementals of any size, and the largest single elemental she can control requires the water of a Jacuzzi.

Additional Note: She is inspired by Hinakuluiau, the Hawaiian goddess of rain.

Well, here's a character. Guess that's a good place to start. Need to go write down the other ides I had about possible plot(s)...

~ Bastien Nightseed ~
Description: Bastien measures close to 6 feet, and he has yet to develop a substansial amount of muscular mass. His skin is of a pale beige shade, visibly not having seen the sun very often. His eyes are of a deep blue shade and he has messy dark brown hair, usually kept in a small braid behind his head. He tends to wear comfortable clothes, preferring the more natural colors, mostly browns and dark greens. Bastien is calm and quiet, and, while not being totally anti-social, he feels better when there are not too many people around. Due to that, he can mostly be seen alone, often writing in a small notebook he keeps with him at all time or studying something he just discovered.

Abilities Description: Bastien's abilities reside mostly in a well-developed sense of observation and good knowledge of people's reactions. He also has minimal training in fighting, survival skills and various other helpful subjects. Oh, and yeah, some power over shadows, as his name suggests.

Minor Power: Bastien has learned to manipulate people into doing what he wants them to do. This isn't really a magical or telepathic ability, but simply the result of his observations and deductions, quickly understanding how people are feeling, what can be troubling them, etc., and normally finding the right sentence to put them on his side. This work around 90% or the time, but when it fails, it can have dramatic consequences. ((The chances of succeeding also diminishes if what he is asking is very demanding. Like, a random info that doesn't seem important = 90%, giving him a small item (ex:food) = 75%, killing someone or other very violent action = 10%.))

Major Power: Like most members of his clan, Bastien has some powers over shadows. He isn't as good at controlling them as others, in fact he is really bad at it, but when he is in danger, or when something manages to disturb him enough, he can manage to create a sphere of darkness around him (generally about 2 meters in diameter). No light can penetrate the sphere, which makes everyone inside blind (including Bastien). Having been trained since his young age to use all his senses to fight, he can generally manage to get out of it in better shape than his opponents.

Note: Bastien is a young member of a clan, the Nightseed. The members of that clan all have some power over shadows, and they are trained from a young age to become potent spies and assassins. Once they have completed their training (around 16 human years), they are sent into the big bad world to live on their own, using what the clan taught them to their advantages, just like a tree releases his seeds into nature. The members then have very little contacts with each other. They all wear a mark of their clan (small black moon crescent inside an ornamented circle) on the inside of their right ankles, and can be asked to come back home if the clan needs them.

Okay. Sounds great. I've just finished a quick read-through of the Encyclopedia, the Monstrous Academy RP and some of the OOC, so I feel (sort-of) informed. And my character... needs a name. I'll get back soon on that.

And... Maeve, the character I was planning has a few abilities that overlap just a bit with Bastien. I'm going to post the original profile, and just let me know if you want me to change it or take that bit out. We cool?

~Jayden Silver ~

Description: Jay, as he prefers to be called, is 17 years old and of average height and build. His skin is the color of dark caramel, though his hair is silver and his eyes startling blue. He keeps his wavy hair cut a little too long, so he always has fly-aways forming messy points around his face. He has thin, silver tattoos curling about the left side of his face and mouth. They stop at his collarbone.
Jay keeps a white cockatoo, Ciel, as a companion. She can always be found on his person, usually on his shoulder or chest. She is very sensitive to both emotions and magic, and she has a beautiful voice.
Jay usually wears jeans in gray, black, or dark purple. He always wears turtle necks, even when the weather is warm, because it makes it easier for Ciel to grip without hurting him.
Jay also keeps a small wooden flute in his pocket or attached to his belt.

Abilities Description: Jayden is the youngest current Silvertongue. His magic is that of speech and song, which explains his affinity towards birds.

Minor Power: Jay naturally has some control over sound, sound waves, and the way they move through the air. He can, for example, augment sounds to make them especially loud, or muffle sounds to silence. He can even, upon occasion, amplify specific frequencies to cause shockwaves (like a sonic boom) or temporary deafness. All of these, however, require both concentration and some energy expenditure, much less so if Jay uses his own voice, flute, or Ciel's song.

Major Power: As a Silvertongue, Jayden can perform songs, chants, and other types of magical speech to influence the world around him. To do this, Jay channels ambient magical energy directly through himself, and uses his song to shape the energy for a precise effect.
Specifically, he can manipulate objects, and sometimes even people. This is heavily dependent on the natural properties and magical affinity of the object or person. For example, things with a high magical propensity and no free will (trees, precious stones, books) are much more easily and reliably manipulated than, say, people, which are chancy at best. Although it is theoretically possible to control the natural elements (fire, water, earth, air), it's a very dangerous proposition as they are both incredibly powerful and unpredictable.
Jayden's powers are entirely based on his ability to channel magical energy, therefore they are limited completely by his strength and skill. ((AKA, his powers have great potential, but I won't abuse them.)) Jay hasn't had much training, so he tires quickly; if he overexerts himself, he ends up with a headache, a froggy throat, and a ringing in his ears.

Notes: Jay is friendly, but not terribly outgoing. He spends a lot of time practicing his flute and he really likes spending time in the gardens, singing to the plants. Jay loves listening to the rhythm of rainfall, but he goes a little haywire during thunderstorms (due to the rush of sound-energy with high magical potential.)
Because he is adept at manipulating sound, Jayden has very good balance.

Oh, and one more little extra:

The Silvertongue clan is dying out. Many of the most powerful Singers find they are unable to bear children, and the powers of the younger members become weaker, more diluted, as each generation passes. Jaden is the youngest Silvertongue by almost 30 years, and there are whispers that he may be the last.

...okay, maybe just //one// more...

It is said that if a Silvertongue becomes very powerful, it becomes possible for them to summon even gods. There are no tales of such a Spellsinger within the last four hundred years, but the legends are still passed down, generation by generation.

Hm, well, our characters have some similarities, but considering they don't really come from the same reasons, it's not really a problem I guess (wouldn't really be a problem anyway ).
I mean, both of them could be doing completely different things with their skills, it just happen that manipulating stuff is more useful, so it's logical that more than one person tries to do it.

I haven't seen many musical/magical characters ((then again, I haven't seen much recently since I didn't do anything)), but I love the idea of having some in our nice little world.
